Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 530: Chapter 404: Holding Her in His Arms

After Song Chi’s assistant left, Song Chi said to Zhou Yun, ”You just scared my assistant.”

”Scared?” Zhou Yun looked puzzled. ”How did I scare him? I didn’t even show my true form as the White Snake.”

Song Chi laughed and said, ”He said he has never seen a female celebrity who picks clothes and decides on her style as quickly as you do.”

Zhou Yun got the point, laughed loudly twice, and said, ”Things like aesthetics should be decided by the first intuition. Hesitating too much often ends with unsatisfactory results.”

Song Chi nodded and gave a thumbs up.

”Sounds logical.”

Zhou Yun glanced at the time; it was already past six ten.

”Why hasn’t the live broadcast event started?” Zhou Yun asked.

Song Chi said, ”It probably won’t start this early, there are so many performers involved.”

Zhou Yun asked, ”Who else is coming today?”

Song Chi said, ”Don’t you know? The list should have been announced online already, let me check.”

Song Chi found the list of guests for the New Year’s Eve concert released by the TV station’s official microblog.

”Wow, they even invited Teacher Chen Quanying?” Zhou Yun asked excitedly, ”I haven’t seen her in such a long time, the last time seems to be over a year or two ago.”

Song Chi said, ”She hasn’t been very active for the past two years due to some family issues, I’ve heard.”

”Ah? What happened?” Zhou Yun asked in surprise.

”They say her husband got a troublesome disease, and she has spent most of these two years taking care of him,” Song Chi explained.

”No wonder I’ve hardly heard her sing in the last couple of years, her singing is really good,” Zhou Yun said. ”When I’m filming, I still listen to her songs now and then.”

Song Chi said, ”Then let’s say hello to her later; her performance is scheduled just before the countdown, so she’s probably not here yet.”

Zhou Yun propped her head with one hand and yawned.

”I get sleepy after eating.”

Song Chi said, ”Why don’t you take a nap on the sofa?”

”The live broadcast crew will be here soon,” Zhou Yun said, yawning again. ”I’ll just soldier through until the live event is over, then I can take a quick nap. I have to fly back overnight tonight, and it will definitely be late before I can sleep.”

Song Chi sighed after hearing Zhou Yun speak.

”Next time don’t wear yourself out like this; you have to give yourself a break,” Song Chi said.

”Ah, but it’s not every day that I encounter a story that I’m so impassioned about and really want to act in. It’s strange to me; without a script and not being a big fan of this director, but with just one talk from her, a sense of mission spontaneously arose in me. I must act in this drama, not only because I really like it and am optimistic about its success but also because if I don’t take this role, it might never get the chance to be made,” Zhou Yun said.

Song Chi smiled and said, ”Many actors have had such moments.”

”Have you had them?” Zhou Yun asked.

”I have.”

”And what did you do?”

”Of course, I fulfilled my mission.”

”See, you did too.”

”Mhm, that’s why I didn’t oppose you,” Song Chi said with a smile.

Zhou Yun was startled.

Upon reflection, Zhou Yun realized that it was true. About her decision to act in ”Behind the Scenes,” Song Chi had never once said anything to discourage her.

Even Zhou Lan had objected, but Song Chi had not.

”I thought you were just supporting me unconditionally.”

”I’m not a ’mindless man.’”

”Hahaha,” Zhou Yun couldn’t help but laugh loudly, ”Mindless man? What a term, this is the first time I’m hearing it.”

”I heard it from my assistant when he was complaining that his girlfriend called him a ’mindless man,’” Song Chi looked at Zhou Yun. ”Why are you laughing so hard?”

Zhou Yun said, ”I just find the term very vivid, lively, and descriptive.”

The two chatted and laughed together.

At that moment, someone knocked on the door.

Zheng Xiaojue put down her phone and went to answer the door, ”Who is it?”

”Are Xiao Chi and Xiao Yun here?” The person speaking was Yu Halong.

Zhou Yun and Song Chi recognized it was the live broadcast crew just from the voice.

Neither of them stood up to avoid seeming too prepared.

This kind of live event, which aimed to ”reveal behind-the-scenes,” was all about creating a sense of surprise for the audience.

”Teacher Yu?” Zhou Yun peered out in delight.

The live broadcast was using a phone mounted on a Divine Artifact, held by Yu Halong.

Yu Halong said with a smile to the phone, ”Dear audience friends, the room we are in right now, can you guess which celebrity we’re going to see next?”

Yu Halong gestured to Zhou Yun and Song Chi to keep quiet.

Both of them cooperated by remaining silent.

”Wow, your ears are sharp indeed, just from that brief mention of Teacher Yu, you’ve guessed it’s Zhou Yun’s voice!”

It was obvious there were also people reporting real-time comments from the live broadcast chat to Yu Halong through his earpiece.

”Since everyone has guessed it, I won’t keep you in suspense any longer. Come on, Zhou Yun, please say hello to our live broadcast audience,” said Yu Halong.

Zhou Yun played along and walked over, first greeting with a ”Hello, Teacher Yu.”

She stood next to Yu Halong, smiling with inquisitive charm, and asked, ”Can everyone see me now?”

Yu Halong responded with a smile, ”Everyone is complimenting how beautiful the goddess looks today! They’ve said it’s been a long time since they’ve seen you at an event, and today they finally get to see the goddess fresh again.”

Zhou Yun blushed shyly, looking radiant and enchanting.

”I’ve missed everyone too, hello, I’m Zhou Yun.”

Yu Halong said, ”Xiao Yun looks truly beautiful today. Is this your outfit for the stage performance tonight?”

Zhou Yun shook her head and said, ”No, Teacher Yu, the styling is still a secret for now. Remember to watch our New Year’s Eve concert later, so you can be the first to see it. It’s a style I really like that I seldom tried before.”

”Xiao Yun’s got me excited already,” Yu Halong said, ”Friends, remember to tune in to the New Year’s Eve concert live broadcast on Binhai TV and Haiyu Net later tonight.”

Zhou Yun waved to the camera.

Yu Halong said, ”Besides Xiao Yun, there is another male celebrity here that everyone is looking forward to. Can you guess who it is? Everyone is guessing Song Chi, sigh, these live shows are getting harder. Why are you guys always so good at guessing? I can’t even keep my suspense going. Alright, no more nonsense, let’s have Song Chi come say hi.”

Then Song Chi walked into the frame.

In the era of vertical live streams, fitting both Yu Halong and Zhou Yun was already the limit. To include Song Chi, they had to push the phone even further back.

Because of this, Song Chi stood right behind Zhou Yun, wrapping an arm around her shoulders, hugging her close.

While naturally holding Zhou Yun, he smiled, waved, and said, ”Hello, I’m Song Chi.”
