Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 529: Chapter 403: Decisive and Efficient

Meng Ran herself is a popular idol who debuted from a talent show, a great singer and dancer; events like this have always been her turf.

Zhou Yun asked, ”Have you had dinner yet?”

”I don’t eat before a performance,” Meng Ran said. ”Otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to move.”

Hearing this, Zhou Yun asked in surprise, ”Really? So you never eat before any performance?”

”Yep.” Meng Ran nodded. ”I just came to say hi, Sister Xiao Yun, go ahead with your meal, I won’t interrupt you and Brother Chi anymore, bye.”

”Bye,” Zhou Yun saw Meng Ran out.

Song Chi said, ”Eat up, the food is getting cold.”

”Coming, coming.” Zhou Yun nodded and sat back down. ”It’s been a long time since I saw Meng Ran, didn’t expect to bump into her today.”

”Her popularity has soared these past two years, I often run into her at various events,” Song Chi said. ”But rumor has it she’s quite temperamental, not easy to work with, especially her team, very difficult. I once had a show where someone suggested we could bring her in, but Wu Chengbao immediately vetoed it, saying he had dealt with Meng Ran’s team before and found them to be troublesome and hard to deal with.”

”Really? I met her when we were shooting ’Warm Little Horse’ with Shen Yao, I thought she was quite alright when I interacted with her. But it’s true that she and Liu Yuqian don’t get along well; they often have frictions.”

”Liu Yuqian is also a handful, I worked with her on a drama before, and she’s really into gossiping and stirring trouble,” Song Chi frowned upon hearing Liu Yuqian’s name. ”Even though she never directly does anything bad, her mouth runs everywhere, and eventually many of our crew had fallen out because of her chitchat.”

Zhou Yun asked in surprise: ”For real? Liu Yuqian... well, you’re not wrong, she does like to chat with everyone and gossip with me, but usually, I just listen, and she talks. I thought if I ignored her, she’d stop, but she doesn’t mind and chats with me every now and then. After the filming, we even met up in Beijing, I think she’s quite nice.”

”That’s because you’re Zhou Yun, so you’ll find you’re surrounded by nice people,” Song Chi said. ”If you weren’t Zhou Yun, but instead some unknown Jiang Yun or Chu Yun, you’d find that the number of nice faces around you would be cut in half.”

”I know.” Zhou Yun chuckled, ”Somebody was being sarcastic to me two years ago.”

Song Chi: ”You’re not talking about me, are you?”

”I didn’t say that.”

”Is it because you always speak with a hidden edge?”

”Ah? Really? Apart from you saying that, nobody else has,” Zhou Yun said. ”It must be you then.”

Song Chi gave a sidelong glance: ”Yes, my problem, it’s all my fault.”

Zhou Yun smiled and nodded, ”Finally, you’re enlightened. Here, have a drumstick.”

She gave her drumstick to Song Chi.

Song Chi smiled helplessly.

A knock on the door sounded again.

”Who is it this time?”

Song Chi’s assistant came in and said, ”Brother Chi, Sister Xiao Yun, the program team is doing a live broadcast before the evening party, and they’d like to come in a while to invite you to participate in the live event, is that okay?”

”Wasn’t this communicated to us before?” Song Chi asked.

”No.” The assistant shook his head. ”It wasn’t included in the contract.”

”Do you want to participate?” Song Chi asked Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun said, ”Since we’re here, might as well, and it’d be good for promoting ’Heart Inquiry’ too. There should be quite a few viewers in the live broadcast, right?”

”I checked, there are over ten million viewers,” said Song Chi’s assistant. ”The live broadcast is hosted by Yu Halong, and it involves him going to the backstage makeup rooms and lounges of various guests, chatting with the guests as a form of pre-show warm-up.”

”What topics will be discussed?” Song Chi asked.

”Here’s the outline given by the director team - it’s mainly about two aspects; one is sharing any happy moments that happened over the year with everyone, and the other is about surprises in tonight’s show,” the assistant said.

Zhou Yun put down her chopsticks, took a tissue, wiped her mouth clean, and nodded, ”That sounds good.”

Song Chi nodded and said, ”Then go reply to them, just say it’s okay.”

The assistant nodded and asked, ”Should we change into another outfit?”

At this moment, Song Chi and Zhou Yun were both wearing their casual clothes, one in a black long down coat, and the other in a white long down coat.

Zhou Yun said, ”I should change. I haven’t even tried my performance outfit yet, I need to hurry.”

Just as they were speaking, Zheng Xiaojue came knocking on the door.

She commanded two people to push in a mobile clothes rack.

”Sister Xiao Yun, these are clothes sent over from VX,” said Zheng Xiaojue.

There were a total of more than ten pieces of clothing on the rack, including long dresses and gender-neutral styles.

Zhou Yun took a glance at each item and picked out a wine-red jumpsuit. Its top was similar to a boob tube design, sleeveless, with a V-neck, while the bottom was a pair of wide-leg pants with a strong silhouette complemented by a gold belt at the waist, giving off a French style.

She held it up in front of herself to compare and said, ”Is this one suitable for wearing on stage?”

”It looks good, Sister Xiao Yun. Your legs are already so long and straight, very suitable for wearing this, so cool.”

Zhou Yun: ”I’ll try this on first, Song Chi, do you have a fitting room here?”

”Yes,” Song Chi pointed to a door inside and said, ”There’s a small room here, you can change inside.”

Zhou Yun went inside to change, then came out with her hands in her pockets, ”How about this?”

”Super cool,” Zheng Xiaojue’s eyes sparkled.

Zhou Yun asked Song Chi.

Song Chi nodded without hesitation, saying, ”It looks nice.”

Zhou Yun: ”Then it’s settled on this one.”

Zheng Xiaojue said, ”The makeup artists are waiting in our lounge room. Sister Xiao Yun, should we go back for makeup, or should we do it here?”

Zhou Yun said, ”Let them come over here, we’ll do it here.”

Zheng Xiaojue immediately nodded, ”Then I’ll have them come over right now.”

Zhou Yun went back to the rack and picked another more casual piece to wear for the live broadcast later.

”That’s it, just these two,” she said.

Song Chi’s assistant was gaping in awe.

Zhou Yun’s speed in picking out clothes, did it even add up to ten minutes?

Even Song Chi doesn’t choose clothes this quickly.

Is this the capriciousness of possessing top-level beauty?

No matter what she wears, she looks good, even if it’s just a bedsheet draped over her.

What shocked Song Chi’s assistant even more happened afterward.

After Zhou Yun’s makeup team arrived, they first sketched out a rough look on a tablet. Zhou Yun glanced at it and nodded.

”That’s fine,” she said.

Decided in one look.

Song Chi’s assistant swore he had never seen a female celebrity make decisions so decisively, especially being so resolute when deciding on her own styling.
