Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 526: Chapter 400: First Love’s Perspective

Song Chi’s hair has grown a bit longer and is untrimmed, pressed under a duckbill cap.

”I’m so exhausted.” Zhou Yun rested her head on Song Chi’s shoulder, ”And I miss you a lot.”

Song Chi wrapped his left arm around Zhou Yun’s back, glanced around at the onlookers, smiled, and whispered, ”You’re hugging me and acting all spoiled like this, with so many people watching. I don’t mind, but you’re shy, are you sure—”

Before Song Chi could finish, Zhou Yun suddenly pulled away from his embrace like popping a cork from a bottle.

Her eyes wide, she forced a calm expression and looked at Song Chi, saying, ”You could have mentioned that sooner!”

”I didn’t have a chance to say it earlier,” Song Chi replied helplessly with a smile. ”Come on, let’s go, it’s just in time for the final rehearsal.”

Without even trying on her performance outfit, Zhou Yun went directly with Song Chi to the backstage area.

The director was overseeing the final rehearsal of another act.

After a song ended, the director gave the celebrity, who had finished performing, a thumbs up and said, ”Wait for the explosion on stage tonight.”

The celebrity, who debuted from a singing competition two years ago, cooly responded with an ’Ok’ sign, as several people crowded around him, helping him with his clothes and handing him sunglasses, forming a protective circle as if to keep others away.

The group left.

Zhou Yun and Song Chi then approached the director.

Seeing the two of them, the director’s eyes immediately lit up.

”Oh, look who’s here? Our beautiful Miss Zhou Yun has arrived!” the director exclaimed in an exaggerated welcome, ”Finally privileged to meet you in person, you are much prettier than on camera.”

Zhou Yun smiled and shook hands with the director, saying, ”Hello, Director, I’m Zhou Yun. Sorry for arriving so late due to shooting in another drama, thank you and your team for the hard work.”

The director quickly waved his hands, ”Not at all, not at all, it’s my honor to cooperate with you, I have nothing to complain about, others would be envious. The two of you look like a perfect couple, very pleasing to the eye.”

Zhou Yun thought to herself that the director was indeed very enthusiastic.

”Director, Xiao Yun is here, let’s walk through the rehearsal of the duet between the two of us,” Song Chi said.

The director immediately nodded, ”Alright, Xiao Hu!”

The director called out.

A young man with a buzz cut ran over, ”Director Zhang, did you call me?”

”Take Miss Zhou to Lift Platform Two,” the director instructed the young man named Xiao Hu, then said to Zhou Yun, ”Miss Zhou, initially we designed it so that you two would alternate lines and then sing together at the end. Yesterday, Brother Chi mentioned you will sing together from start to finish, so we modified the stage design a bit. Xiao Hu will first take you to Lift Platform Two, and when the show starts, Brother Chi will be at Lift Platform One and you at Lift Platform Two. You both will appear together from beneath the stage and start singing together. Once the lifts are stable on stage, you can begin the duet.”

The director called someone over to help them with ear monitors and other devices. After they were equipped, Xiao Hu led Zhou Yun to Lift Platform Two.

A few staffers surrounded her, communicating over walkie-talkies.

”Miss Zhou, here’s the microphone you’ll use tonight,” a young girl handed Zhou Yun a microphone.

Zhou Yun took it and asked, ”Is this turned on?”

”The microphone will be centrally controlled from behind; it will be turned on when you go on stage,” the young girl explained.

Zhou Yun nodded.

”Miss Zhou, someone will bring you here to stand by before the official show starts. At that time, I will tell you when to go on stage,” Xiao Hu flashed a bright smile at Zhou Yun, and after seeing her nod, he picked up his walkie-talkie and said, ”Director Zhang, Lift Platform Two is in position.”

”Okay.”

After a while, the musical intro started playing.

Xiao Hu picked up the walkie-talkie and said, ”Lift Platform Two is in position.”

”Received.”

Suddenly, Zhou Yun felt the ground beneath her move. She was rising.

Zhou Yun looked down in surprise.

Xiao Hu gave her a thumbs up, saying, ”Everything is normal.”

Zhou Yun slowly ascended onto the stage, compared to the messy backstage, there weren’t many people on stage now, just a few staff members confirming the final LED display settings.

Zhou Yun spotted Song Chi at another location ten meters away.

Through the in-ear monitor, the director’s voice came: ”Brother Chi, Xiao Yun, you two start with the first four lines of the duet, after singing the four lines, walk towards each other.”

Zhou Yun felt inexplicably nervous.

Even though the audience had not yet entered, and the vast venue was only filled with busy staff members.

Zhou Yun still felt nervous about the singing that was about to start.

It was time to start singing.

”I Hear Your Voice—”

”I Hear Your Voice—”

She and Song Chi started singing at the same time.

Zhou Yun laughed, feeling inexplicably embarrassed.

Song Chi also looked at her and smiled, nodding his head and continuing to sing.

Below the stage.

The director and several of his team members stood together, exchanging glances.

”I’m getting Zhou Yun’s mic feed here, the Movie Queen singing... doesn’t seem very good.”

The director was also confused.

”Later during the official performance, let’s turn down the volume on Zhou Yun’s mic a bit.” he said, ”I finally understand why Song Chi wanted them to sing the entire song together from start to finish.”

”I had heard before that Zhou Yun’s singing was average, but I didn’t know she was tone-deaf.”

”It’s probably not tone-deafness, she’s singing much better now, probably just couldn’t find the tune at first and it was all over the place.”

”But this is their first time singing together, regardless, this topic is explosive enough.”

”That’s right, they are currently the hottest celebrity couple in the country, my family is all following ’Heart Inquiry,’ they even asked me to get their autographs, I don’t know if I’ll be able to later.”

”I’ve heard that Song Chi and Zhou Yun are quite approachable, Su Yan, I advise you not to get your hopes up.”

”By the way, has Su Yan arrived? Isn’t she supposed to rehearse a trio with them later?”

”She’s been called, but hasn’t come yet, I’ll go remind her again.”

...

The director watched the performance on stage, sighed, and picked up the walkie-talkie, saying, ”Brother Chi, Xiao Yun, after you two get together, hold hands, it looks a bit awkward from down here.”

Zhou Yun on stage suddenly stumbled, her face inexplicably blushing.

She turned her head to look at Song Chi.

Song Chi, with an easy grace, lifted his hand towards her.

Zhou Yun handed her hand over, embarrassingly turned her head away, unable to meet Song Chi’s eyes, and smiled with pursed lips.

”These two... why do they hold hands like a couple of high school sweethearts on their first date?”

The girl standing next to the director was stunned.
