Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 531: Chapter 405: Asking My Heart

The moment Song Chi and Zhou Yun appeared together in the live streaming room, the barrage of comments suddenly became fierce.

Gifts were being given out like crazy.

Zhou Yun and Song Chi couldn’t see what was being said in the barrage, but Yu Halong kept exclaiming in excitement, so they knew the live streaming room must be bustling.

Song Chi and Zhou Yun stayed in the lively live streaming room for fifteen minutes, then Yu Halong said, ”Okay, we can’t bother Song Chi and Zhou Yun any longer, they’re about to start getting ready. Friends, remember to tune in to the New Year’s Eve concert live broadcast starting at eight o’clock tonight. Thank you Song Chi, thank you Zhou Yun, see you later!”

”See you later!” Zhou Yun waved goodbye to Yu Halong with a smile.

After Yu Halong left, the dressing room quieted down.

Song Chi patted Zhou Yun’s shoulder, saying, ”You better get some sleep, I’m going to do my hair first, you can still sleep for another twenty minutes.”

But Zhou Yun shook her head, saying, ”I’ve been talking and laughing just now, I’m not sleepy anymore, can’t fall asleep, forget it.”

Song Chi nodded.

Zheng Xiaojue said to Zhou Yun, ”Sister Xiao Yun, let’s start with skincare then.”

”Mhm.” Zhou Yun nodded.

...

Meanwhile, in Meng Ran’s makeup room.

Meng Ran asked, ”How was the response in the live streaming barrage just now?”

”It was great, everyone is really looking forward to your performance tonight.”

The person who answered was Meng Ran’s agent, named Wan Tianlang, who was rather plump and was wearing a suit that seemed tightly stretched, almost making one worry that two of the buttons might accidentally pop off.

He said, ”Perform well. We’ve prepared for today’s show for a long time, and it will definitely win everyone’s favor.”

”Lily’s show also hired a choreographer from Korea to create a new dance, I heard that choreography alone costs five hundred thousand? Is she opening the show at the Hongcheng TV Station’s New Year’s concert?” Meng Ran asked.

Lily and Meng Ran both emerged from the same talent show, and during the competition, they were the two contestants with the highest popularity. After the group debuted, they did activities together for a year, enjoying sustained popularity. After the group disbanded, they were still ostensibly good sisters, but privately, they didn’t interact much. After all, there was no small amount of competition and friction between them, something that simple friendship couldn’t smooth over.

Wan Tianlang nodded and said, ”They really went all out this time, but our choreographer is not inferior, and you know as well, once this set comes out, it’s definitely going to blow the audience away.”

Meng Ran said, ”Has Yuehai Network decided on the singing and dancing themed variety show for next year?”

”They haven’t decided yet, but you stand a great chance of being chosen,” Wan Tianlang said. ”Right now, among the singing and dancing artists, you’re the most popular, and the show producers couldn’t be more eager to have you there.”

”Their show is a Grade S big production; don’t fool me. Even they could invite Teacher Chen Quanying, this is not a level where I can just think about joining. Ever since Teacher Chen Quanying announced, many people have been asking me about the show, wondering if I will go,” Meng Ran said. ”I’ve heard that Lily also has her eyes on this show.”

”Her? She’s going to start filming in May, she’s taken a web drama series, her schedule doesn’t even match,” Wan Tianlang said.

”Who said you can’t record a show while filming?” Meng Ran said. ”Wasn’t the lesson from last time not enough? You insisted on going for ’Warm Little Horse,’ saying it was important to take a ten-minute role in the series, causing my schedule to become inflexible, allowing her to steal a spot as a regular guest on a variety show.”

”My dear, having a cameo in ’Warm Little Horse’ is way more valuable than appearing on a show,” Wan Tianlang said. ”Popularity is tangible. Shows can be found anytime, but how often in a lifetime can you share a stage acting with Shen Yao, Zhou Yun, and Yu Sitian? With this acting experience, you’ll have an advantage a hundred times over in the film and television industry compared to Lily, who only shoots web series.”

Meng Ran actually understood this reasoning, she was just annoyed that Lily had snatched the show from her.

”By the way, when you went to see Zhou Yun, did you take a photo with her?” Wan Tianlang suddenly remembered to ask.

”No, when I was there, she was eating with Song Chi; I didn’t want to disturb them, I said a few words and quickly left.”

”You need to be more brazen; you could have taken a photo with Song Chi as well. If you post that photo on Weibo, I’m telling you, others will be green with envy,” Wan Tianlang looked at Meng Ran with a you-can-do-better look.

Meng Ran didn’t say anything. What she wanted to say was, if she had done that, she and Zhou Yun’s friendship, which was already not very close, might have come to an end.

Meng Ran had been in the industry for several years, even debuting earlier than Zhou Yun, but because Meng Ran was younger and less established, she subconsciously regarded Zhou Yun as a senior.

Having met many people, it was only Zhou Yun who Meng Ran felt was not just a friendly and easy-going person, but someone who had a clear, shining line of principles set in stone.

Meng Ran could distinctly sense what she could do that Zhou Yun would accept and what Zhou Yun wouldn’t.

But this was something she couldn’t clearly explain to Wan Tianlang, so it was better left unsaid.

Wan Tianlang said, ”Have you visited Teacher Chen Quanying yet?”

”I went there for a moment, but they said she was still at the hotel, not here yet.” Meng Ran said. ”After the performance is over, I’ll go find her again.”

Wan Tianlang nodded and said, ”Maintaining good relationships with these seniors will greatly benefit your future, don’t think it’s too much trouble, be diligent. Sometimes, just one word from them could bring a great opportunity your way.”

”Yes, I know, you repeat this to me every other day, my ears are tired of hearing it.”

...

At eight o’clock sharp, the New Year’s Eve concert officially started.

Zhou Yun had finished her makeup and was waiting to go on stage.

Zheng Xiaojue opened the live broadcast on a tablet.

The staff members of both Zhou Yun’s and Song Chi’s teams were watching the live broadcast, but Zhou Yun and Song Chi were on the other side, watching ”Heart Inquiry” together.

Because she had been filming on set, Zhou Yun had never kept up with the broadcast schedule.

The two of them each had an earphone in one ear.

Song Chi said, ”I met with Director Kang a few days ago. He said that you have a very strong chance of being nominated for the Best Supporting Actress award at the Zhongding Awards. He met with the chairman of the jury for this session, and they had high praise when discussing this series with you.”

Zhou Yun smiled, ”Liu Rusu was really a role I put a lot of effort into.”

”I hope you win the award.”

”I hope so too.” Zhou Yun said.

The time spent filming ”Heart Inquiry,” including the character of Liu Rusu, had given Zhou Yun a deep emotional connection to the series.

She had already acted in three TV dramas: ”Eighth Heartbeat,” ”Heart Inquiry,” and ”Dingfengbo.” If asked which one she hoped to win an award for, she would want it to be ”Heart Inquiry.”
