Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 525: Chapter 399: Long Time No See

Evening party.

Zhou Yun almost forgot about this.

”Do you know how popular ’Heart Inquiry’ is now?” Zhou Lan said, ”The number of partners looking for you has doubled compared to usual!”

Zhou Yun looked at Zhou Lan in surprise, asking: ”Really?”

This period, she stayed in the drama crew, and even Yao Yuanfeng contacting her was because he thought she made a very wrong decision, so later Zhou Yun, in order not to let herself get distracted, stopped logging into Weibo and handed her account and password to Zhou Lan to handle the daily promotional activities for ”Heart Inquiry.”

To the outside world, Zhou Yun seemed to be posting a Weibo related to ”Heart Inquiry” every day, following the plot of ”Heart Inquiry” and promoting it, but in reality, Zhou Yun had not been checking online comments at all, whether it was regarding ”Heart Inquiry” or the drama ”Behind the Scenes.”

Whether it was well-received or not, Zhou Yun had accepted it.

But she would not let these voices affect her mood and affect her state while shooting ”Behind the Scenes.”

Xue Qin was giving it her all, Zeng Lili and You Jiang were giving it their all, and she must also give it her all.

Especially since she could only get the scripts of the scenes to be shot one or two days in advance, and after getting them, she had to have script meetings with Xue Qin, rehearse with the other actors, and also complete the regular daily shooting. Time was tight, the demands were high, Zhou Yun was really pushing herself like never before in this endeavor.

She had no distractions and no energy to pay attention to other things.

She could only make a daily phone call to Song Chi to keep in touch.

Song Chi also knew her particular situation during this period, and basically did not disturb her; sometimes he just left a message on WeChat, sent a picture of the sky, or a photo of his work, and sometimes, Zhou Yun might not reply to even a dozen consecutive messages until she was getting ready to sleep at midnight, then she would listen and reply to Song Chi with a voice message.

And now, she needed to ask the crew for leave to attend the New Year’s Eve performance.

About this matter, Zhou Lan had already discussed it with Shi Luoqi and Xue Qin.

But at the time of the communication, it was before the news of ”Falling Leaves” halting its shooting.

Xue Qin only asked one question: ”Is it absolutely necessary for you to go?”

Zhou Yun answered: ”I’ve already signed a performance contract with them, and they have already announced my participation; I can’t breach the contract now.”

Xue Qin nodded, saying: ”Alright then, you go. I’ll adjust the shooting tasks and wait for you to come back.”

”Alright, I will leave at noon on the 30th, and after recording, I will rush back overnight.” Zhou Yun promised, ”The new scripts, just have someone put them in my room, and I will read them after I come back.”

Suddenly, Xue Qin gave Zhou Yun a hug.

This surprised Zhou Yun tremendously, standing baffled and not knowing what to do as she looked at Xue Qin.

”These times have been hard,” Xue Qin said, ”I’ve never told you this before, but this time I have to say, I’m glad you’re here.”

Zhou Yun didn’t know how to describe the shock in her heart.

Truly shocked.

This action, these words, if it had been Shi Luoqi who did and said this, Zhou Yun wouldn’t have been so shocked.

What kind of person is Xue Qin? She was the one who acted so arrogantly at the beginning that Zhou Yun and Song Chi complained about her privately numerous times. Even till today, Zhou Yun just recognized and admired Xue Qin’s talent, but did not believe that Xue Qin’s temperament had improved much, nor did she feel that she and Xue Qin had become friends.

But Xue Qin’s gesture put Zhou Yun into a state of daze.

Glad you’re here?

This remark made Zhou Yun couldn’t help but wonder if Xue Qin had been possessed.

”How disgusting.” Without thinking, Zhou Yun blurted out her true feelings.

Zhou Yun was startled, somewhat embarrassed.

However, Xue Qin laughed heartily, saying, ”Alright, I won’t say it again in the future.”

...

On the evening of the 29th, Zhou Yun called Song Chi.

”I will arrive tomorrow afternoon, I don’t know if I can catch the last rehearsal; if I miss it, I’ll have to rely on you.” Zhou Yun sagte. ”I have to sing tomorrow night, but as you know, I’m really just average at singing, so please don’t assign me a solo part; I’m okay blending in with the group, but a solo would literally be a car crash trending scene.”

Song Chi laughed, saying: ”The TV station has arranged for the two of us to sing a song together, it’s not possible for everyone to sing together all the time, there is no such thing, after we finish singing one song, we still have to sing the theme song of ’Heart Inquiry’ with Su Yan.”

”Sister Lan has already sent me these two songs in advance, I’m practicing, but honestly, the practicing effect is just average, I’m really serious, Song Chi, don’t let me embarrass myself.”

”How about lip-synching then?”

”That won’t do, lip-synching is deceiving people,” Zhou Yun sagte. ”Lip-syncing still can’t be done, sigh, I told you, I really hate this kind of singing job, Sister Lan insisted, telling me it’s for promoting ’Heart Inquiry’; I really just gritted my teeth and took it on.”

Song Chi comforted her with a laugh: ”It’s okay, really, you’re not a professional singer, why force yourself to sound so good? If you sing ordinary, the audience will understand.”

”You really think so... don’t you know that every year there’s a collection of singing car crash scenes on the internet?” Zhou Yun said, ”Do you think I’ve never had such public singing commercial performances? Do you think I’ve never trusted the audience’s tolerance? No, let me tell you, never trust the audience, anything that can make them happy, there’s nothing they wouldn’t do.”

”...” Song Chi said helplessly, ”But we do sing together from начальный to end, I... I’ve honestly never seen this format before.”

”Then let’s be innovative.” Zhou Yun said, ”Oh, Song Chi, Brother Chi, Brother Song, my boyfriend, it’s time for you to step up.”

Song Chi’s breathing got noticeably heavier for a moment, ”Alright.”

He agreed.

Zhou Yun immediately cheered.

What the TV station says is now Song Chi’s problem.

”But, we can only do this on the duet love song we are singing; the lyrics for the ’Heart Inquiry’ theme song are already assigned, and there’s Su Yan, you can’t expect her to sing with us from start to finish,” Song Chi said.

Zhou Yun asked, ”Can I just quietly stand beside you, not opening my mouth? My lyrics could be sung by you guys.”

Song Chi: ”Enough, don’t be too greedy.”

”Alright, alright, I understand.”

On the noon of the 30th, Zhou Yun left the drama crew, rushing to the high-speed rail station with Zheng Xiaojue and Cao Jun, arriving at 3pm at the recording location, a local gymnasium.

At 4pm, Zhou Yun arrived on time, catching the last bit of rehearsal.

”Song Chi!” Zhou Yun encountered him in the backstage corridor, letting out a surprised squeal, and like a bird flapping its wings, she threw herself at him.

Having not seen him for a long time, she missed him dearly.
