Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 505: Chapter 387: Scene 1_5

Zhou Yun has such high demands on herself; she could start off acting poorly, not getting into the role properly, or make other mistakes, all of which is fine. However, when it comes to acting, she mustn’t treat it lightly, settle for mediocrity, struggle stubbornly, or deal with it perfunctorily. Her only standard is to be harsh on herself and delve deep into the character.

...

Zhou Yun is quite satisfied with her first scene in ”Falling Leaves.”

”I’m done shooting.” Zhou Yun made a video call to Song Chi while eating.

Song Chi asked in surprise: ”Are you just having your meal now?”

”Yeah, just started eating,” Zhou Yun replied. ”Thought it’d be a quick shoot with a couple of shots according to the script, didn’t expect it to be so tough. The director’s demands are pretty high.”

Song Chi said with a smile: ”You should have Zheng Xiaojue prepare some chocolate or biscuits for you. If you can’t eat on time normally, have some in between scenes to fill your stomach, don’t wreck it.”

”Alright.”

Zheng Xiaojue, who was sitting next to Zhou Yun, leaned over and interjected: ”Don’t worry, Brother Chi, I’ll go buy some tonight.”

Zhou Yun pushed Zheng Xiaojue’s head away.

”What are you doing right now?” Zhou Yun asked.

”Looking at scripts, I haven’t found a suitable one yet,” Song Chi said.

”You’ve started your own company now and still haven’t found a suitable script?” Zhou Yun asked in surprise.

”There isn’t one I really want to act in. Some scripts are good, the company is considering whether to greenlight them,” said Song Chi. ”And, personally, I don’t really want to act in productions my company makes.”

”Heart Inquiry is really hot now, haven’t any big directors approached you for movies?” Zhou Yun asked.

”There have been some, but I’m hesitant. The scripts seem quite ordinary,” Song Chi hesitated, ”I’m not very interested.”

”Are you setting your standards too high?”

”Maybe. At my age, there actually aren’t that many roles I can choose from,” Song Chi laughed helplessly. ”I’m no longer a young heartthrob, but I’m not quite at the mature middle-aged stage either. A lot of roles I’d like to try don’t really suit me.”

”Male actors get more popular with age, while it’s the opposite for us female actors,” Zhou Yun sighed.

”Don’t sigh. The market is getting better and more diverse. The company has already greenlit two projects with female leads, both around fifty years old. The scripts are well-written, and we’re looking for the right production team,” Song Chi said. ”We are making efforts like this, and the market is also paying more attention to actresses of this age group.”

Zhou Yun: ”Mhm.”

”By the way, I’ve heard ’Life’ is getting a TV adaptation,” Song Chi suddenly revealed a somewhat shocking piece of news.

”A TV adaptation?”

”Didn’t you get the news? I thought you knew,” Song Chi said. ”New Shield has already started the project and is working on it.”

”Yao Yuanfeng has been wanting to make a sequel, but Wen Bing wasn’t interested, and I didn’t take it either. Now that he can’t make the sequel, he’s planning to do a TV adaptation?”

”After all, it’s about making money,” Song Chi said. ”Considering it from a business perspective, it’s quite normal.”

”Let him be. I haven’t received any news,” Zhou Yun pouted. ”Honestly, the film was entirely Wen Bing’s creation; without him, I can’t imagine what this drama would turn out to be. And, the male lead isn’t on screen at all; a two-hour film is manageable, but turning it into a TV series, will the audience really stick with it for so long?”

”The adaptation doesn’t have to be an exact copy of the film. It’s not impossible for the male lead to appear on screen,” Song Chi said. ”Anyway, just riding on the name will keep the attention high.”

”Alright then.”

”The Qingmu Award ceremony is in January, will you be attending?” Song Chi asked.

”I don’t know, Sister Lan hasn’t mentioned it to me, but I might not have time since ’Falling Leaves’ won’t be wrapped up by then.”

”Such a major awards ceremony, your agent would probably want you to attend. They will likely negotiate with the crew and ask for time off,” Song Chi suggested. ”Usually, they would agree.”

”It’s not necessarily the case with Xue Qin,” Zhou Yun said. ”She was on set today, expressionless the whole time. I had no idea how to deal with it, but later I figured it out. No matter what she does, I’ll just focus on my own work.”

”That’s not something you need to worry about, Zhou Lan will negotiate for you.”

”Okay then.”

”I do hope you can make it,” Song Chi added.

”Ah?”

Song Chi broke into a grin, ”I received an invitation from the organizing committee to present the award for Best Actress.”

Zhou Yun’s eyes widened with surprise: ”Really?”

”Really. So, if possible, I hope I can personally hand the trophy to you,” Song Chi said.

Zhou Yun: ”That’s so enticing.”

”Right, go ahead and eat, we’ll talk later.”

”Bye.”

”Bye.”

After hanging up the video call, Zhou Yun stretched lazily and suddenly noticed an intense gaze fixed upon her.

Zhou Yun turned to look.

Zheng Xiaojue was staring at her, saying: ”Sister Xiao Yun, you must go to the Qingmu Award ceremony.”

”Ah?”

”Brother Chi will be presenting the award to you!” Zheng Xiaojue’s face was ablaze with the fervor of a fan shipping a couple. ”If that really happens, what a classic moment! Imagine Brother Chi giving you a congratulatory kiss in front of everyone, ah—”

Zhou Yun: ”...”

Zheng Xiaojue: ”Trust me, Sister Xiao Yun, Brother Chi might really do it!”

Zhou Yun thoughtfully realized that Zheng Xiaojue’s words might indeed be true.

Song Chi seemed serious, but he was actually a prankster. In the dynamics of their relationship, he was always the more generous one, more willing to go public.

A kiss at the award ceremony?

Zhou Yun wasn’t a naïve high school student; indeed, the thought was quite stirring to her.
