Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 528: Chapter 402: Prelude to the Performance

Su Yan arrived a bit late.

Song Chi and Zhou Yun were chatting and laughing with the director.

”Oh, I’m sorry for being late,” Su Yan said. ”There was a problem with the costume for tonight’s performance, and I had to make final adjustments and revisions myself. I had to make sure everything was perfect.”

The director warmly greeted Su Yan and said, ”No worries, Yanyan. Now that you’re here, let’s go over the interview segment and the lottery drawing for tonight.”

Tonight’s host is from Binhai TV, and the host for their segment is Yu Halong, who is the top host of Binhai TV.

He is very young, just over thirty, but because of his handsome appearance and solid foundation, and being a contestant from CCTV’s host competition, he is highly valued by the network.

Of course, compared to him, Song Chi and the others are almost a generation younger.

They are still younger.

”After the three of you finish performing, Halong will ask you to stay for a brief interview. The interview questions are all here,” the director said, taking out a cue card. ”Three people, three questions, one each. You can go ahead and prepare your responses. Try to keep your answers around thirty seconds.”

Su Yan glanced at her question and immediately said, ”Director, can I change my question?”

”Huh? What’s wrong?” the director asked.

”Look at this question. It asks if I have any plans to date seeing how sweet Song Chi and Zhou Yun are together. How am I supposed to answer that?” Su Yan said. ”It’s not that I’m jealous of them. We’re all here to promote ’Heart Inquiry’, and I don’t want to disclose my private life.”

Zhou Yun looked at her question: Everyone thinks you and Song Chi are very sweet together, and in the eyes of many fans, you and Song Chi are perfect. Now, let me ask Xiao Yun, what do you think are Song Chi’s top three attributes?

Looking at Song Chi’s question, it asks, what are the top three attributes of Zhou Yun.

”...”

These questions are clearly designed to satisfy the audience’s curiosity, to boost ratings and popularity.

For couple CPs, these are probably the things that people are most curious about.

Even though everyone knows that they will say nice things like responsible, kind-hearted, considerate, people still want to hear it, as long as it comes from their mouths.

This spirit of curiosity and gossip has continued from ancient times to the present.

The director wanted to persuade Su Yan, but she was very determined.

No choice, the director had to call the scriptwriter to change the question on short notice.

Finally, they changed it to a question about what work plans and wishes she hopes to achieve next year.

That’s how the interview segment was settled, followed by sending blessings.

Each of the three had to send a New Year blessing to the audience in front of the TV and the screen.

Then, it was the lottery drawing.

Their task was very simple, three rounds of drawings, each person shouted stop once, and then they would announce the lucky audience members’ mobile numbers.

That was all for their part in the event.

Originally, the director also planned to invite them to join everyone on stage for the midnight countdown during the New Year’s Eve.

But Zhou Yun and Su Yan both were in a hurry and could not stay there to countdown with everyone.

After some discussion, Song Chi would stay behind. During the midnight countdown, he would promote ’Heart Inquiry’ again, and in exchange, as a guest, Song Chi would take the stage again to countdown with everyone.

It was already half-past five, only two and a half hours left until the live broadcast of the gala.

”Alright, let’s grab something to eat first,” Song Chi took Zhou Yun’s hand. ”Did you skip lunch when you came out from the shoot?”

”I had a sandwich on the way,” Zhou Yun asked, ”What’s there to eat?”

”They prepared boxed meals,” Song Chi said. ”Will you go to my rest room?”

The production team had prepared individual rest rooms for both of them, but since they rarely meet, they obviously didn’t plan to split up.

Zhou Yun nodded, saying, ”But I haven’t tried on the costume yet, the one for tonight’s performance.”

Zheng Xiaojue took the initiative to say, ”Sister Xiao Yun, the costumes have been delivered. I’ll help you bring them to Brother Chi’s resting room later.”

On the way there, many were sneakily taking pictures of the two with their phones.

Especially the extras who would dance later.

...

At the director’s team’s side.

”Last departments, hurry up and do a final check,” Director Zhang said.

”Director, have something to eat first,” his assistant brought over a boxed meal. ”It’ll be even busier later, no time to eat.”

Director Zhang sat down next to a light box, pulled over a chair and started eating.

”I find that Zhou Yun isn’t as difficult to work with as the rumors suggest,” his assistant also sat down, eating and talking. ”She didn’t make any special requests.”

”Difficult to work with Zhou Yun isn’t about her being problematic; it’s about the rarity of working with her. Think about it, how many people want to collaborate with her, and how many public events does she attend?” Director Zhang said. ”If it wasn’t for ’Heart Inquiry’, we wouldn’t have been able to have her for the New Year’s gala. For so many years, she hasn’t sung more than two songs in a public setting.”

Thinking carefully, the assistant nodded, ”True, but her singing is really just average, maybe she’s too scared to sing.”

”Hah, with millions in appearance fees, even if you’re tone-deaf you’d dare to sing. Aren’t there plenty of cases of lip-syncing in the entertainment industry? Easily making money, who wouldn’t want that?” Director Zhang said, ”Alright, you don’t understand these things, just eat.”

”Oh.”

The assistant paused then added, ”But I really think she’s different from other female celebrities.”

”Hmm?”

”Her attitude is really down-to-earth, not the fake kind of approachable. She really doesn’t put on airs,” the assistant said. ”Completely different from another celebrity.”

”Shut your mouth, eat your meal. This isn’t the place to talk behind people’s backs.”

The assistant finally kept quiet.

...

”Knock, knock.”

Someone knocked on the door.

The door opened, revealing Meng Ran’s face at the doorway.

She smiled sweetly, saying, ”Sister Xiao Yun, so you are really here!”

”Xiao Ran.” Zhou Yun was eating, put down her chopsticks, and stood up. ”Are you looking for me?”

”I knew you were here today, so I went to your resting room earlier, but they told me you were in Brother Chi’s room,” Meng Ran’s eyes sparkled. ”May I come in?”

”Of course, come in,” Zhou Yun welcomed her with a smile. ”You’re also performing today, right?”

”Yes,” Meng Ran nodded. ”The second program.”
