The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 191: Chapter 191 How did they suddenly become estranged?_1

”Yeah, just like that, I’ve spoken with your sister once. We both have the same enemy, so we decided to join forces to deal with the Miller family. I’m good at fighting, and she’s good at business. Since I’m planning to completely crush the Miller Family, I can’t do it alone.”

Carson Flores explained himself in a clear and straightforward manner, ”The Miller Group has acquired the Seacoast Pharmaceutical Company. I’ve heard there are quite a few troubles in the factory, so I’ll help her deal with those troubles first. That’s why your sister is transferring me. During this period, I’ll serve as her assistant, so I need to go to Seashore with her. Are you coming with me, or will you go separately and we’ll meet up in Seashore?”

Samantha Tate’s voice rose two octaves, ”Assistant? Doesn’t that mean you’ll be together all day and night?”

Carson Flores laughed and said, ”Yes, worried I might fall for your sister? How about I clarify our relationship to her?”

Samantha Tate was taken aback and hurriedly refused, ”Don’t say it, please don’t.”

Carson Flores chuckled, ”Aren’t you worried? If I tell her, you won’t have to worry anymore, right?”

Carson Flores had thought that if Samantha Tate agreed, he would explain everything to Shirley Miller. After all, their marriage had been a sham, a transaction. Although their relationship had improved a lot, it hadn’t reached the point of romance.

Now, with a sister on his left and a sister on his right, and although their relationships hadn’t gone too far, it still made him feel a bit guilty.

Samantha Tate immediately said, ”I’m not worried, just a little surprised. I trust you.”

Carson Flores laughed, ”I don’t even trust myself, yet you trust me this much?”

Samantha Tate hummed, ”You’re not the type to get flustered by beauty. I’m such a gorgeous beauty, and you can resist, what’s there for me to worry about? However, if my sister asks if you’re married, you have to say that you are.”

Carson Flores was speechless. Whether or not I’m married, your sister knows best!

”Your sister knows I’m married.”

Samantha Tate smiled and said, ”Then I have no objections. By the way, how long are you planning to stay in Seashore this time?”

Carson Flores replied, ”I don’t know. My fight against the Miller Family is also to dig out my own background. What I do next depends on the truth I find. However, it won’t be easy to completely take down the Miller Family. They have a few tough players guarding, and a direct confront would be unfeasible. So it will definitely take quite some time.”

Samantha Tate hummed, ”I can’t really help with dealing with the Miller Family, so I’ll have to find something to do for myself.”

Carson Flores asked with a smile, ”What are you planning to do?”

”I’ll join a management training course. After all, I’m the only one in my family who needs to understand some business management knowledge. And I own a store, I plan to turn it into a zipper shop too. There’s a very famous enterprise management training institution in Seashore, the lecturers are all professional experts. Since you will be busy, I’ll take this opportunity to further my education.”

Carson Flores laughed, ”You’re making me see you in a new light.”

Samantha Tate huffed, ”I’ve told you, I’m not the kind of missy who just stretches out her hand for clothes and opens her mouth for food. I study and work too.”

Carson Flores chuckled, ”Yes, yes... So are you going to go with me or not?”

Samantha Tate hesitated for a moment before politely declining, ”Being with you might give us away. Women are very sensitive. Let’s just meet in Seashore.”

”Okay!”

...

On Monday, Carson Flores received the company’s transfer order. He was moved from the sales department to serve as the president’s assistant, and Jax Gross was appointed as the new team leader of sales team eight.

Not waiting for Jax Gross’s thank-you dinner, Carson Flores packed up simply and drove his X5, taking Shirley Miller straight to Seashore.

Three hours later, they arrived at Seashore.

The hotel they had booked was not far from the Sixth Pharmaceutical Factory. Upon arriving, they checked in at the front desk and collected their room keys.

As they walked toward the elevator, Carson Flores jangled his room key and laughed, ”Now you don’t have to worry about being squeezed out of the bed by me. You can enjoy tossing and turning on the bed as much as you like.”

Shirley Miller pursed her lips, ”I guess by the time the matters with the Miller Family are sorted out, our initial agreement will also be up. By then you probably won’t go back to Polgel anymore, right?”

Carson Flores entered the elevator, scanned his card, pressed the floor button, and smiled, ”I guess that’s right. I came to Polgel to find you. Other than that, I don’t know anyone else, and since things will have been dealt with, I don’t have anyone else to return for, so naturally, I won’t go back.”

Shirley Miller didn’t speak, but her gaze betrayed a fleeting and almost imperceptible sense of loss.

”You’ve been driving for hours, you must be tired. Rest for a while, then we’ll eat, and head to the factory in the afternoon.”

”Okay!”

Shirley Miller, carrying her suitcase, entered her room and took off her high heels. She flopped onto the spacious bed feeling oddly emotional.

At home, she and Carson Flores did everything together except getting intimate – eating, living, sleeping on the same bed – it all felt so natural. But now that they were away from home, in Seashore, they suddenly seemed to be strangers. An invisible chasm seemed to have opened up between them, and even their conversations had become much more formal.

Shirley Miller rolled over on the bed a couple of times, her expression slightly blank.

This feeling... why does it feel so wrong?
