The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 121: Chapter 121 The Old Man’s Intention is Not the Wine_1

Brian James is dead?

Hugo Combs sneered, ”You must be out of your mind.”

Carson Flores said with a smile, ”You and Martin Baker were colluding, under the direction of Brian James, to acquire other people’s shares. Unfortunately, Brian James is dead, and all of this has become rootless duckweed. Just now, the shares of Martin Baker and the other shareholders have already been acquired at a low price by Kimberley Investments, which fully supports Ms. Miller. In that case, Ms. Miller should thank you.”

Hugo Combs’s face turned a shade paler because the things Carson Flores mentioned were absolutely impossible for an ordinary person to know.

Could it be true?

Is Brian James really dead?

Martin Baker has lost his backer and sold his shares, making a wedding dress for someone else, and Shirley Miller has become the biggest winner?

What’s more important is that I’m now in deep trouble. If Brian James is dead, who can save me?

The benefits I’ve received lately are enough to have me locked up for at least twenty years!

Carson Flores’s eyes narrowed slightly, his gaze suddenly became piercingly cold, his murderous intent clear, ”Brian James provoked Ms. Miller, so he died. Just a deputy head of the inspection team like you, daring to eye Ms. Miller’s assets, you must not know how to write the word ’death’!”

Being stared at by Carson Flores like this, Hugo Combs felt his heart plunging into the Abyss, his whole body ice-cold, as if falling into an ice cave.

Brian James’s death, was it because he provoked Shirley Miller?

I was actually thinking about sleeping with Shirley Miller?

As if tangible murderous intent enveloped Hugo Combs, he broke out in a cold sweat, his heart constricting, feeling the fear of wetting his pants.

He’s really going to kill me!

At this moment, Zayd Singleton had concluded the ”emergency public relations” work, took his leave of Shirley Miller, and walked out.

The moment Zayd Singleton stepped out, he saw Hugo Combs and Carson Flores standing opposite each other, his heart tightened again.

Has Hugo Combs done something foolish again?

”Hugo Combs, what are you doing!”

Zayd Singleton, anxious, chided in a low voice and quickly walked up to the two men. Turning to Carson Flores with a conciliatory smile, he asked respectfully, ”Mr. Flores, did he do something to you?”

Carson Flores’s look went from fierce to warm in an instant, as if shifting from the bitter cold of winter to a warm spring day, ”Minister Singleton, there’s no problem here. I just happened to bump into Chief Combs and decided to exchange a few words.”

Hugo Combs’s heart grew even more fearful.

A minister addresses Carson Flores as Mr. Flores?

And with a respectful tone?

Could it be that Carson Flores is the true puppeteer controlling this entire situation?

He suddenly realized that Brian James’s death might be closely linked to the man before him, especially since from Martin Baker’s information, the Miller Family couldn’t possibly have the power to kill Brian James so silently without consequences and to make Zayd Singleton bow his head.

Zayd Singleton was polite to Shirley Miller, but his attitude towards Carson Flores was of utmost respect.

Hugo Combs was completely desperate, filled with immense regret. If he could choose again, he would wish for time to rewind to the day of the alumni gathering.

Not only would he not target Carson Flores, but he would also treat Carson Flores and Samantha Tate like ancestors to be revered.

I’m completely finished.

Zayd Singleton let out a sigh of relief, turned his head, and said coldly, ”Hugo Combs, you should go back for now. Don’t leave the city and wait for the investigation.”

Hugo Combs, feeling as if he’d been granted an amnesty, didn’t even bother to wipe the cold sweat from his forehead and quickly turned to run.

Right now, it might just be the loss of a career and some time in prison, but if he caught Carson Flores’s attention again, he feared he wouldn’t even have the chance to see prison.

How formidable was Brian James, and yet didn’t he just drop dead?

After Hugo Combs left, Zayd Singleton said apologetically, ”Mr. Flores, I am truly sorry for this incident. I’ll invite you and Ms. Miller for a meal later on to apologize in person.”

Carson Flores replied with a smile, ”Minister Singleton, you’re being too formal. If truth be told, I should be the one to invite you out to express my thanks. Had you not promptly helped to correct the mistake, River Miller might indeed have had to halt production—that would have been troublesome.”

Zayd Singleton, relieved, replied with a laugh, ”Mr. Flores is a true expert, gracing us in this world. Just call me Zayd, and no matter what, let’s plan to get together later.”

Carson Flores cheerfully agreed, ”Sure, I’ll invite Ms. Miller along next time, and we can all have a meal together.”

Zayd Singleton departed satisfied, having been thoroughly scared by today’s events.

Hugo Combs not only abused his power to choke the Miller Group but also set his sights on Shirley Miller, even expecting her to sleep with him?

This damn fool, if he wanted to die, he almost dragged me down with him!

If it weren’t for others, just Carson Flores and Leonard Reid mentioning it would be enough. With one phone call from Leonard Reid, it’s likely that higher-ups in the province would start an investigation into this matter. Then, not only would Hugo Combs be finished, but I might also get implicated.

When Carson Flores called me, he mentioned in passing that Hugo Combs was acting under the directions of Brian James. When it was suggested that something had happened to Brian James in the last couple of days and he had died, my heart almost stopped beating on the spot.

The moment I saw Shirley Miller, it became even clearer to me.

Why would someone like Carson Flores, a remarkable figure, join the Miller Group as a mere sales team leader?

Obviously, his intentions lay beyond the wine!

Brian James’s death might not be as simple as it seems; otherwise, how could it be such a coincidence that he suddenly died silently during the exact days of the trouble at River Miller?

Hugo Combs even dared to lay a finger on the target that Carson Flores had his eye on. Was he so eager for death, thinking his life too long?
