The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 146: Chapter 146 The Bed is Wide Enough for Two People_1

Shirley Miller lay in bed, her heart pounding erratically as her face flushed deeply, even her ears were thoroughly red.

She didn’t dare to look at Carson Flores, for fear of meeting his gaze.

Her hands rested on her lower abdomen, folded over one another, her whole body tense and apprehensive.

Carson Flores laughed.

Shirley Miller bit her lip, ”What are you laughing at?”

Carson Flores said with a smile, ”You’re very nervous, aren’t you?”

Shirley Miller felt a bit vexed, ”You tell me to lie down, what are you going to do?”

”Nothing, just switching places with you.”

Switch places?

Shirley Miller blinked, her look confused and somewhat stunned.

Carson Flores chuckled, flipped over, vaulted across Shirley Miller’s body, and landed on the floor, sitting on the makeshift bed.

”You sleep on the bed, I’ll sleep on the floor.”

Shirley Miller finally snapped out of her reverie. Carson Flores made such a scene just to switch places?

She had imagined so many embarrassing scenarios...

”Why suddenly switch places? Wasn’t it agreed that you would sleep on the bed and I on the floor?”

Carson Flores chuckled, ”You’re used to your bed, and it can’t be comfortable on the floor. I heard you tossing and turning last night, not sleeping well. So, it’s better if you sleep on the bed. I’ve gotten used to sleeping on hard surfaces over the years. Sleeping on the floor is no problem for me.”

Actually, Carson Flores had wanted to switch places with Shirley Miller quite some time ago. Having a grown man sleeping on the bed while a woman slept on the floor felt somewhat inappropriate, he felt slightly embarrassed. However, due to the awkwardness between them, he hadn’t brought it up before. Now that the topic came up, he took the chance to switch places and teased Shirley Miller a bit on the side.

Shirley Miller felt a warm sensation inside. She hadn’t expected Carson Flores to be so considerate and gentlemanly. She had almost misjudged him.

Shirley Miller felt grateful toward Carson Flores, and at the same time, she felt a touch of embarrassment.

She had suggested being a pretend couple and asked Carson Flores to go along with her act, which was quite presumptuous. Now making him sleep on the floor seemed even more so.

Shirley Miller hesitated, then, as if possessed, she blurted out, ”Why don’t you sleep on the bed too?”

Carson Flores was momentarily startled, his eyes showing surprise.

Had he heard wrong?

Was she inviting him to sleep on the bed?

After Shirley Miller said that, her face, just beginning to calm down, flushed red once again.

My god, how did she say that out loud?

Seeing Carson Flores’s surprised gaze fixed on her, Shirley Miller hastily explained with a guilty conscience, ”The floor is always a bit uncomfortable to sleep on. Since you’ve agreed to help me and it’s already quite a sacrifice for you, I couldn’t possibly let you sleep on the floor. The bed is wide enough for two, we can each use our own blankets...”

”Okay!”

As he watched Shirley Miller’s cheeks turn redder and her voice get quieter, displaying an embarrassed expression, Carson Flores agreed crisply.

Who would want to sleep on a hard floor when they could sleep on a soft bed?

Shirley Miller sighed in relief as Carson Flores agreed, but she also felt a bit of tension.

Her sleeping posture was always very demure; she shouldn’t toss and turn too much.

Carson Flores placed the pillows and blankets from the floor onto the bed, then laid down directly, saying with a smile, ”It’s getting late, let’s sleep. Should I turn off the light?”

”Okay!”

Shirley Miller felt quite awkward by then and hurriedly agreed. After all, the darkness of the room could help to ease her emotions.

The light went out and the room darkened.

Yet Shirley Miller had no trace of sleepiness—there was a man sleeping next to her!

Even though the bed was wide, two grown people sleeping on it would inevitably be quite close together, and so she could clearly hear Carson Flores’s breathing.

He was a gentleman. He wouldn’t do anything inappropriate.

Letting him sleep on the bed was merely a gesture of politeness and nothing more.

Shirley Miller comforted herself internally, but couldn’t help her wild thoughts, and it took a long time before she finally fell into a deep sleep.

When she woke up, Shirley Miller opened her eyes and immediately looked beside her.

There was no one there.

Carson Flores had already gotten up at some unknown time and quietly left the bedroom.

Shirley Miller breathed a sigh of relief.

That was good!

Getting up at different times was for the best; otherwise, waking up together like a married couple, staring at each other, would be so awkward.

Shirley Miller checked the time and realized it was almost ten in the morning!

Indeed, sleeping on the bed was comfortable!

She hadn’t slept that well in a long time!

After washing up, Shirley Miller went downstairs and saw Carson Flores sitting on the sofa playing with his phone, with a TV series playing.

”You’re up, there are buns in the pot.”

It was ten o’clock, so naturally, Shirley Miller was very hungry. She walked into the kitchen, took out a plate of buns and a carton of milk, and sat down at the dining table.

”Didn’t go out?”

Carson Flores said with a smile, ”I’m a stranger in Polgel, haven’t made any friends yet, so naturally, I don’t have any plans.”

Shirley Miller thought about it, Carson Flores was new to the area after all. She suggested, ”You could join some hobby groups, participate in some activities, and make some friends. Gradually you’ll have your own circle of activities.”

Carson Flores asked with a smile, ”What about you? What hobbies do you have?”

Shirley Miller, while biting into her bun, casually replied, ”I’m usually very busy. On weekends, I tend to be in the gym, go bowling, read books...”

Carson Flores commented, ”That’s a very healthy lifestyle.”

Shirley Miller hesitated, then said, ”You don’t have plans today, right? How about keeping me company for a meal?”
