The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 144: Chapter 144: Underestimated?_1

”The Woolery, Browning, and Howell families are the three old Cultivator families in Polgel, with the Woolery being the strongest, the Browning next, and our Howell family the weakest.”

At the barbecue stand, Raelynn Howell explained with a touch of embarrassment, ”I wasn’t deliberately hiding my family’s situation before; I just thought that when making friends, what’s important is bonding over shared hearts, not getting tangled up in family backgrounds. It’s quite bothersome.”

Carson Flores, holding a beer, clinked his bottle against Raelynn’s and chuckled, ”You don’t know Danny Browning?”

Raelynn Howell shook her head, ”I’m just a student and don’t get involved in family affairs on regular days. If he doesn’t reveal his family name, I really wouldn’t recognize him.”

Carson Flores looked at Raelynn Howell with a smile, pinpointing her little scheme, ”You didn’t know his identity earlier, so you didn’t hit him. Once you knew he was the son of the Browning family head, you even went up to break his other leg and deliberately announced your own name... Were you afraid he would seek revenge on me and Rebecca, so you intentionally drew his hatred?”

Raelynn Howell, her thoughts seen through, explained somewhat embarrassingly, ”I was the one who hit him before, so it’s only right that I face the consequences. If the Browning family really wants to retaliate against you, they will play dirty. Although the Howell family is far behind the Browning in terms of making money, we are still a Cultivator family and aren’t afraid of them.”

Rebecca Ward asked anxiously, ”Danny Browning was beaten so badly; he definitely won’t let this go and will surely come after you.”

Raelynn Howell waved her hand nonchalantly, ”The Browning and Howell families have been at odds both openly and in secret, not just for a year or two. This little incident doesn’t make much difference. I’ve already called my second aunt; she’ll handle it.”

Carson Flores asked curiously, ”Your second aunt, is she very formidable?”

Raelynn Howell replied with proud eyes, ”Of course, although my second aunt is a woman, she has a great talent for cultivation and is the strongest person in our Howell family. Even my great-ancestors can’t beat her.”

Carson Flores asked, ”How old is your second aunt?”

Raelynn Howell answered, ”Thirty-six. This year is her zodiac year.”

Thirty-six and she can beat the Howell family’s ancestors?

That’s indeed a bit impressive.

As the three of them were eating, Raelynn Howell’s phone rang. She answered the call and a surprised expression appeared on her face, ”Second aunt... I’m eating barbecue next to me, at the crossroad there... Okay!”

Raelynn Howell hung up the phone, looking somewhat excited, ”My second aunt is coming.”

The sound of a motorcycle engine roared down the street, and a motorcycle with an imposing design slid over and stopped beside the barbecue stand.

The rider was a tall and fashionable lady in a racing suit. She took off her helmet, shook out her wine-red hair, placed the helmet on the handlebar, and dismounted from the bike.

Carson Flores’s eyes lit up. Very cool.

”Second aunt!”

The fashionable lady came over and poked Raelynn Howell’s forehead, ”You troublemaker, I turn my back for a few days and you’re causing trouble again!”

Raelynn Howell hugged the lady’s arm and acted coquettishly, ”They started bullying my classmate first, so I hit them. It wasn’t my fault.”

The fashionable lady hummed, ”The ’hitting’ you’re talking about is breaking the Browning kid’s leg?”

Raelynn Howell chuckled, ”That kid said he would kill us, and since it’s already like this, I’d rather have a good fight first. Second aunt, let me introduce you—this is my classmate Rebecca Ward, and this is Brother Carson. He’s also very skilled.”

The fashionable lady extended her hand with a calm tone, ”Hello, Lydia Howell... Raelynn likes to stir up trouble; sorry for bothering you all.”

Carson Flores smiled and shook hands with Lydia Howell, ”Carson Flores... Although Raelynn is young, she is very responsible and loyal. This time, she was standing up for Rebecca, and after learning of Danny Browning’s identity, she took the initiative to take the matter upon herself...”

Raelynn Howell argued, ”I didn’t do that. Danny Browning wanted to drag me and Rebecca off to his private room, saying he wanted to ’play’ with us slowly. Of course, I beat him up.”

Lydia Howell’s eyes suddenly sharpened like blades, ”Did he really say that?”

Raelynn Howell affirmed righteously, ”Yes, everyone can testify.”

Lydia Howell hummed in acknowledgment, ”I’ll handle this matter. Come back with me now.”

”Ah, right now?”

Raelynn Howell was a bit reluctant, ”Second aunt, why don’t you sit down and have something to eat with us...”

Lydia Howell said indifferently, ”Danny Browning is the precious only son of the Browning family head. He’s always been treasured, and you breaking his arms and legs isn’t something the family head will take lightly. If you keep hanging around outside, who’s to say he won’t strike at you first, and then no one will be able to save you. Come back with me. Until this issue is resolved, you’re not allowed to go out alone.”

”Oh.”

Raelynn Howell naturally knew Lydia Howell meant well, and reluctantly agreed with a pout.

Lydia Howell turned to look at Carson Flores, her tone cold, ”The Howell family will take care of this, but I can’t guarantee the Browning head won’t lash out at you, so it’s better for you to hide somewhere. Whether you stay at a friend’s or go on a trip, just don’t let the Browning family find you. When things settle down, Raelynn will let you know.”

Carson Flores hesitated for a moment, then asked, ”Do you need help?”

Lydia Howell’s gaze rested on Carson Flores’s face for a moment before answering calmly, ”If the Howell family can’t handle it, your involvement won’t make a difference...”
