The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 123: Chapter 123 Weakness is the Greatest Original Sin_1

”Brian James is dead?”

In the presidential suite of the top-tier Dragon Cauldron Hotel in Polgel, a handsome young man with his upper body bare leaned casually on the sofa. Beside him sat a beautiful woman dressed in a transparent gauze dress, feeding him grapes she had peeled.

In the center of the living room stood an ordinary-looking middle-aged man with black-framed glasses, calmly reporting, ”Yes, dead along with him is his son, Shepard James.”

The beautiful woman had a graceful figure, and the spring light under her transparent dress was faintly visible, incredibly tempting, but the middle-aged man seemed not to see her at all, his expression as placid as a still well.

A look of surprise crossed the young man’s face, ”Cut the grass and eliminate the roots? Interesting, who killed them?”

The middle-aged man answered, ”The James family publicly claimed that the father and son died from accidentally falling off a cliff while mountain climbing to watch the moon at midnight. This is clearly an excuse, because two days before this, Brian James had been urgently hospitalised, suspected of being injured by a master’s special technique. After the death of Brian James and his son, Shepard James’s master, Malcolm Gross from the Yutien Sect, also appeared. According to witnesses, Malcolm Gross had one arm hanging, likely his left arm had been broken.”

The young man caught the grape fed by the woman with his mouth, and spoke lightly, ”State the conclusion.”

The middle-aged man answered calmly, ”The murderer is unknown. The Yutien Sect has stepped in to suppress the truth about the James family father and son’s death. I surmise there must be a Cultivator secretly helping Shirley Miller. The Yutien Sect knows the identity of the killer, but for some reason, they chose to cover it up.”

”Cultivator?”

The young man chuckled disdainfully, ”I originally thought Brian James had some skills, that dealing with Shirley Miller would be as easy as reaching for something in his pocket. I didn’t expect him to screw up. It looks like my cousin has some abilities, managing to get a Cultivator to work for her. Being pretty really does have its uses.”

The middle-aged man asked, ”What do we do next, Young Master Yu?”

The young man laughed, ”Based on the agreement, it’s not convenient for me to deal with Shirley Miller personally, or else it’s easy to be criticised by other members of the family. Since there’s a Cultivator secretly helping her, it’s a bit difficult for ordinary people to deal with her. Well then, make a trip to the Woolery Family, let them make a move. Just tell them if they can destroy the Miller Group and ruin Shirley Miller, consider it a favor Oscar Miller owes them, and I’ll do one thing for them.”

The middle-aged man nodded, ”Understood!”

After the middle-aged man left, Oscar Miller lay down on the woman’s thigh and smiled, ”Looks like we’ll have to stay a bit longer.”

The woman smiled faintly, ”Think of it as a trip, since you don’t like staying with the family anyway.”

Oscar Miller pinched the woman’s cheek, ”You understand me. There are too many rules and too many old folks at home, it’s suffocating. From this standpoint, I can relate to the choice my uncle, whom I’ve rarely seen, made. What a pity he’s too weak. He doesn’t understand, in the world of Cultivators, weakness is the greatest sin!”

...

”How exactly did you manage it?”

Carson Flores was playing games in his office when he received Shirley Miller’s message.

Carson Flores, ”I saved a kid’s life, the grandfather was quite powerful, helped me get a word in with Minister Zayd.”

The statement from Carson Flores was true; without Leonard Reid’s intervention, how could Zayd Singleton take such care of the matter, handling it so cleanly and even apologizing at the cost of losing face?

Shirley Miller, ”You mean medical treatment?”

Carson Flores, ”Yes.”

Shirley Miller, ”Was the stock purchase also arranged by him?”

Carson Flores, ”The stock purchase has nothing to do with him, wasn’t it Golden Shine Investment?”

Shirley Miller, ”Did you contact them?”

Carson Flores, ”I asked you earlier if you had the money to buy shares, and you said no, so naturally I had to seek help elsewhere. Golden Shine Investment seemed quite wealthy, and they’re a friend of your father’s. They’ve helped you before too, so I let them take advantage of this opportunity. It’s better to keep profits within the family, right?”

Shirley Miller, ”You’re saying they agreed just like that?”

Carson Flores, ”As long as they can eliminate the risk of being shut down for rectification, whoever buys these shares will make a killing. Which investor could refuse? Also, I made it a precondition for him to buy shares only to share in the dividends, not to participate in company affairs or decision-making. He supports all of your decisions, meaning from now on, in the company, your word is law, and anyone who opposes you can be fired.”

Shirley Miller, ”Selling shares might be easy for Alexis Vasquez, Rusty Schneider, and others, but how did Martin Baker agree to sell his shares?”

Carson Flores, ”Brian James had an accident a couple of days ago, died. I scared Martin Baker a bit, he got afraid, and sold his shares.”

Shirley Miller, ”Brian James is dead?”

Carson Flores, ”Yes, they say he fell down a cliff while climbing. Seems like even the heavens are helping us. If it hadn’t been for his accident, this wouldn’t have been so easy to resolve. Anyway, it’s settled now. You just focus on being the CEO; don’t worry about the rest.”

Shirley Miller, ”Okay, thanks!”

Carson Flores sighed with relief, having bluffed his way through.

Having dealt with Martin Baker and the rest of the fair-weather shareholders, the remaining two shareholders were staunch supporters of Shirley Miller. There would be no more infighting among the company’s senior management. Shirley Miller could now focus all her energy on leading the company forward.

I should be able to lie back and take it easy now, right?
