The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 104: Chapter 104 They Just Want to Crush Us_1

”The situation is like this now, and the problem is very serious...”

In the office, Shirley Miller looked grave as she briefed all the shareholders and senior executives on the situation: ”The rectification notice will be issued soon.”

Suddenly, the office exploded into chaos.

”Mandatory business suspension for rectification? With no set deadline, isn’t that a death sentence?”

”Our company shouldn’t have any major issues, right? How could we be suspended like this? Were we set up by someone?”

”Exactly, even if there are some issues, they should be minor ones that can be rectified while we continue production. Why suspend operations right off the bat? This is clearly targeting us. Did we offend someone?”

Martin Baker spoke with a stern face, adding fuel to the fire: ”When I escorted Hugo Combs out, I communicated with him privately, and the problem is very serious. Once the rectification notice is issued, we will have to suspend production for rectification for two months. After two months, there will be an inspection. If it does not pass, it can be extended for another two months. If we fail the inspection three times in a row, the company will be completely blacklisted.”

Upon hearing this, everyone panicked.

”Two months of production suspension? The company will go under. What’s this about continuous inspections?”

”That’s right, this isn’t just a suspension for rectification; this is practically a death sentence!”

”We must have offended someone. Only extraordinarily vile enterprises receive such punishment. Our company follows all the standards, and even if there are problems, they couldn’t be severe enough to warrant this. We’ve been set up!”

”Ms. Miller, what on earth is going on?”

Martin Baker watched as everyone’s emotions flared up, and after letting them vent their anger for a while, he finally spoke calmly, ”Ms. Miller, this shouldn’t be the case. Clearly, there’s something fishy going on. Someone wants to bring us down. Otherwise, given that your cousin and the Head of the Inspection Team were high school classmates, with such a relationship, it couldn’t possibly be this harsh unless...”

Martin Baker left his sentence unfinished, but it gave everyone ample space for wild conjecture.

”Ms. Miller’s cousin and the Head of the Inspection Team were high school classmates?”

Martin Baker nodded: ”Yes, when the Head of the Inspection Team first saw Ms. Miller, his first question was whether she knew a certain person, saying they looked exactly alike, like twins...”

With these words from Martin Baker, everyone suddenly made the connection.

Alexis Vasquez slammed his hand on the table, his eyes sparkling with intelligence: ”Oh no, this is bad! Since Ms. Miller’s cousin looks just like her, like twins, it probably means Ms. Miller’s cousin is also very beautiful. The Head of the Inspection Team might have fallen for her, but for some reason, he failed. Therefore, from love turned to hate, he’s transferring the hatred for Ms. Miller’s cousin onto our company, settling personal scores under the guise of public authority!”

Alexis Vasquez’s theory was instantly accepted by everyone.

”It’s very likely the case. Isn’t this just a disaster out of nowhere?”

”So we’re victims of unwarranted misfortune?”

”Ms. Miller, this was originally your personal issue, but now it’s affecting the company. That’s unacceptable. You’re the helmsperson of the company, and this trouble was caused by your family member. I think you should take responsibility for resolving this issue. Otherwise, if we stop production for two months, I fear the company will directly go under.”

”Exactly, why don’t you plead with the Head of the Inspection Team? If that doesn’t work, let your cousin apologize and settle this quickly. The loss from stopping production for even a day is enormous, not to mention how many orders can’t be shipped, and the potential for massive penalties for contract breaches.”

Shirley Miller’s gaze was icy as she clenched her teeth and remained silent.

She had long understood what these shareholders were made of; she had seen their self-serving faces countless times before.

The possibilities they were discussing had indeed crossed her mind, but she had no intention of turning to Samantha Tate.

It was Samantha Tate’s right to reject someone she didn’t like. Shirley Miller had no reason to force Samantha Tate to bow to Hugo Combs over her own issues. Besides, this matter probably couldn’t be settled with a simple apology.

What Hugo Combs wanted was definitely more than just an apology.

After everyone had spoken and all eyes turned to her, Shirley Miller finally spoke coldly: ”I will handle this matter and communicate with the relevant parties. If anyone has any connections or relationships, it’s time to mobilize them. No more hiding your assets. If the company goes under, no one benefits.”

Shirley Miller stood up and left. Two shareholders who supported her followed, while the rest did not leave. A group of them remained in the meeting room, smoking fervently.

”Martin, what’s the situation now?”

”Yeah, enlighten us. Can Ms. Miller fix the situation with the Head of the Inspection Team?”

”Martin, you have many connections and a wide network. Give us the straight talk.”

Martin Baker sighed: ”It’s difficult. I’ve made discreet inquiries, and they have no intention of reconciling. They want to take us down. I’m already in contact with potential buyers to sell my shares.”

Everyone was shocked. Had the situation really deteriorated to such an extent?

Was the company’s second-largest shareholder really preparing to cash out and flee?

”Is there really no chance of recovery?”

”Isn’t Ms. Miller’s cousin a classmate of the Head of the Inspection Team? Wouldn’t her intercession be of any use?”

Martin Baker scoffed: ”Put yourself in their shoes. Would you let go with just an apology? Don’t you think they want more, like her person? Now, looking at it from another angle, would Shirley Miller or her cousin be willing? Her cousin has nothing to do with the company. Even if we consider the Miller Family, they only own 25% of the shares. You want Shirley Miller to sleep with Hugo Combs to resolve our issue, do you think she’d agree?”
