The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 117: Chapter 117: Just You? Or Perhaps Shirley Miller?_1

Martin Baker took a step forward, blocking Carson Flores’s path.

”This matter has nothing to do with you, please leave.”

Carson Flores smiled and addressed the shareholders, such as Alexis Vasquez, ”Having one more buyer is always good for the seller; maybe Mr. Mason is willing to offer a higher price.”

The eyes of Alexis Vasquez and the rest lit up. Right, if two buyers were to bid, wouldn’t that be more advantageous for them?

”Since Mr. Mason is interested, why not have a chat together?”

”Mr. Baker, let’s talk.”

Martin Baker’s expression changed slightly, for he too was pretending to sell shares. If he forcibly chased away a potential buyer like Cody Mason, wouldn’t that clearly indicate there was something fishy between him and Thomas Roth?

Cody Mason walked into the room, glanced at the contract laid out on the table, and casually picked up a copy to read.

Thomas Roth’s face grew angrier, but since the sellers all knew the price and would tell even if Mason didn’t see it, he simply kept silent and let him look.

The current situation wasn’t about competing over price, but about competing over backing.

He had to speak to Cody Mason alone and drive him away!

Thomas Roth initially thought that Cody Mason would definitely belittle his offer and then propose a higher price, but after Mason finished reading, he fluttered the contract in his hand, chuckled, and said, ”This price is very generous indeed.”

The price is generous?

Everyone was dumbfounded.

Thomas Roth and Martin Baker quietly exchanged looks, seeing the confusion and disbelief in each other’s eyes.

What does that mean?

Was it a negotiating tactic? First lower the seller’s expectations, then raise the price a bit to make sellers think they are getting a good deal, and sell out right away?

Alexis Vasquez indignantly said, ”How can it be high when it’s less than forty percent of the price?”

Cody Mason chuckled, ”Actually, I think this price is already high. But since you’ve all discussed this price, I’m willing to take a loss and offer the same.”

Rusty Schneider unfavorably asked, ”Since you’re offering the same price, why should we sell to you?”

Alexis Vasquez joined in, ”We discussed with Thomas. If you’re offering the same price, then naturally we prefer to sell to him. Why sell to you?”

Cody Mason chuckled confidently, ”You might be willing to sell to Thomas, but he might not be willing to buy.”

Thomas Roth’s expression grew stern, ”Mr. Mason, what do you mean?”

Cody Mason smiled faintly, ”Thomas, let’s talk privately for a moment.”

Thomas Roth had anticipated this; he must fulfill Brian James’s instructions and complete the stock acquisition. How could he let Cody Mason pick the fruit?

Talking privately would be perfect to brandish the influence of Supreme Sky Corporation, intimidate the other party, and make him back down.

”Alright!”

Cody Mason and Thomas Roth left the office together, and the anxiety in Martin Baker’s heart grew.

Could something bad have happened?

Martin Baker’s gaze fell on Carson Flores, and suddenly he realized, could it be that Shirley Miller, no, Parker Miller had made a move?

Martin Baker decided to have a chat with Carson Flores.

”Carson Flores, come outside for a moment.”

Carson Flores smiled and followed Martin Baker out of the office.

After walking a distance, Martin Baker turned around and stared coldly at Carson Flores, ”Did Shirley Miller send you to cause trouble?”

Carson Flores smiled and said candidly, ”Now that it’s just us, I’ll cut to the chase. You cooperate with me to buy their shares, then sell your own shares, and I’ll overlook what happened in the past.”

Martin Baker was stunned, disbelief evident on his face, as though he couldn’t believe his ears, ”What did you say?”

Carson Flores replied with a grin, ”You and Hugo Combs are both under orders from the chairman of Supreme Sky Corporation, Brian James. Brian James instructed you two to collude internally and externally, with Hugo Combs creating pressure with a factory shutdown for rectification, and you coaxing the other shareholders into believing the company was going to fail. Then, pretending to lead the way in selling off shares, while in reality, the goal was to buy their shares to gain control, force Shirley Miller out, and take over the Miller Family’s shares.”

Martin Baker’s pupils constricted sharply, and a flash of panic crossed his eyes.

How did he know?

Martin Baker was silent for a few seconds before asking, ”What do you want to do?”

Carson Flores smiled, ”Like I said, I want your cooperation in buying their shares, and then you can sell your shares and get lost.”

Martin Baker sneered, ”What, you’ll threaten me by telling Alexis Vasquez and the others the truth? Even if you do, so what? The notice for the production stoppage and rectification will arrive soon. That is a real production halt. Unless the authorities relent, River Miller will indeed be finished, and their shares will truly become worthless. If they don’t sell now, they still can’t keep their shares!”

Carson Flores shook his head, ”Hugo Combs is about to be in trouble. The notice for production stoppage and rectification won’t be issued.”

Martin Baker stared at Carson Flores with disdain, ”Just based on you? Or perhaps Shirley Miller? If she had that ability, she wouldn’t have been helpless before. The influence of Supreme Sky Corporation, how could Shirley Miller contend with that?”

Carson Flores smiled lightly, ”I assume you haven’t been able to contact Brian James in the last two days, or if you did, you couldn’t get through?”

Martin Baker’s eyes widened in shock as he looked at Carson Flores and blurted out, ”How did you know we couldn’t reach him?”

Carson Flores smiled subtly, ”Because Brian James is already dead.”

Martin Baker’s face turned pale, his eyes filled with sheer panic.

Brian James is dead?

How did he die?

If he couldn’t get in touch himself, how did Carson Flores know?
