The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 107: Chapter 107: The Prey’s Rage, the Lament of the Weak_1

”Ms. Miller, please take a seat.”

Shirley Miller sat down with a smile and looked around, feeling slightly relieved.

On the balcony of the Linjiang Restaurant, there was a spacious partition, similar to a private room, but not completely enclosed, with restaurant staff moving around.

In such a place, the incident from last time shouldn’t happen.

After some simple pleasantries, Hugo Combs ordered the meal. The wine was still red, but this time it was brought by a server who opened it and poured it for them.

While chatting about various topics and singing each other’s praises in business, the two finally got to the main topic.

”Team Leader Combs, is there still a chance to sort things out this time? As you know, so many of our employees will be affected if we halt production. If it really lasts for two months, we’ll have numerous orders we can’t fulfill and will have to pay huge penalties for breaching contracts...”

Hugo Combs didn’t answer directly but smiled instead: ”Ms. Miller, I don’t know if Samantha Tate has told you, but once upon a time, I was a suitor of hers.”

Shirley Miller felt a sinking feeling in her heart. Was it really resentment born out of unrequited love?

This matter seemed difficult to resolve.

”Samantha Tate and I are distant cousins and don’t interact much on a regular basis. She naturally wouldn’t talk about these private matters of the heart.”

Hugo Combs chuckled, his gaze fixed on Shirley Miller, with a gleam of fire in his eyes: ”Ms. Miller, let me be honest with you, River Miller is doomed this time.”

Shirley Miller was shocked: ”Why do you say that? The issues we’ve exposed aren’t that serious, right?”

Hugo Combs smiled slightly: ”Yes, they’re not serious. In fact, we don’t have to stop production, a slight rectification would be enough. But somebody has singled out River Miller, you understand.”

Shirley Miller was startled. She had thought it was Hugo Combs taking revenge on Samantha Tate, but it now seemed to be something else entirely.

Who wanted to bring down River Miller?

Shirley Miller placed a paper bag she had brought with her in front of Hugo Combs: ”Team Leader Combs, could you tell me who it is? I will surely repay you.”

Hugo Combs didn’t even look at the contents inside; he just pushed the paper bag back: ”I can’t say that. There are rules.”

Shirley Miller became somewhat anxious: ”Team Leader Combs, you have the final say in the audit team. Can’t you let this slide just this once?”

Hugo Combs smiled: ”Of course, I can.”

Something clenched in Shirley Miller’s heart, but she asked calmly, ”Please state your terms.”

The true intentions of Hugo Combs were now evident as he chuckled lightly: ”I’ve been smitten with Ms. Miller since the first time I saw you, so how about this—you become my girlfriend?”

Shirley Miller frowned: ”Team Leader Combs, you failed to pursue my cousin, and now you’re preparing to use me as a substitute?”

Hugo Combs smiled lightly: ”Ms. Miller, are you really so insecure about your charm? Tell me, which man could resist your allure?”

Carson Flores was outside with a listening device on him. Shirley Miller wasn’t panicked at all, but instead spoke more deeply and seductively: ”May I ask for clarification? Do you want me to marry you and be your wife, or are you merely viewing me as your prey, looking to conquer me?”

Hugo Combs laughed: ”I like Ms. Miller’s frankness. Then I’ll be clear as well. I’ll give you two days to think it over. I’ll be waiting at my place the night after tomorrow. If you come and become my woman, the production suspension notice will never appear, but if you don’t show up, then the next day, the notice will be on your desk.”

Having said this, the content was sufficient—Shirley Miller could no longer hide the anger in her heart: ”Hugo Combs, this is an abuse of power, retaliation. You’re trying to humiliate me to get back at my cousin. How despicable!”

Hugo Combs wasn’t angry. In the presence of a hunter who held absolute power, what could the prey’s anger achieve?

It was nothing more than the lament of the weak, unable to change any facts.

”Ms. Miller, spend one night with me, and I’ll solve this issue for you and reveal the identity of the person behind the scenes. After that, we’ll have nothing to do with each other. If you’re not willing, then just watch River Miller crumble to pieces!”

Hugo Combs answered indifferently: ”It’s a transaction. You can choose to accept or refuse. The choice is in your hands.”

”In your dreams!”

Shirley Miller stood up with cold indignation: ”Even if River Miller falls to ashes, I won’t let you succeed!”

Hugo Combs let out a leisurely smile: ”That’s fine. After all, I lose nothing. But your father... I’m afraid he won’t rest in peace even in death, knowing that the company he built with his own hands was brought down by his own daughter. It must be very upsetting for him.”

Shirley Miller’s face turned red with anger, and she threw the red wine from her glass at him.

”Shameless!”

Hugo Combs’ expression turned cold: ”The night after tomorrow, I’ll be waiting for you—don’t be late. Ms. Miller, please.”

Shirley Miller turned and left furiously. Hugo Combs pulled out some napkins and began wiping the wine off his body, his eyes burning with intensity.

He had deliberately mentioned Shirley Miller’s father to provoke her, adding to her psychological burden.

Shirley Miller, struggling to keep River Miller afloat single-handedly, was doing it all because it was the only legacy left by her father, wasn’t that right?

Shirley Miller had always treated River Miller as precious as life itself. For her father’s legacy, would she submit?

Hugo Combs looked forward to it.

Giving Shirley Miller two days to consider was to coordinate with Martin Baker in acquiring other people’s shares, to fulfill Brian James’s instructions.

And about solving the problem after having been with her?

Would a man’s words to get a woman into bed ever be truthful?
