The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 106: Chapter 106: Individual Gifts_1

”Hugo Combs?”

Leaning back in his chair, Carson Flores looked incredulous, ”Your cousin’s high school classmate?”

”Yes, he asked me out to dinner, saying it’s about discussing rectification issues, and I had to agree. I’d like to ask you to accompany me, is that okay?”

Carson Flores readily agreed, ”Sure.”

After hanging up the phone, Carson’s expression was somewhat subtle.

It seems that the world really does come full circle!

Just yesterday, I heard Hugo Combs bragging about his position as the vice leader of the inspection team, and today, he’s gone straight after the Miller Group.

Is it because of Samantha Tate’s connection?

Hugo Combs sure is petty, taking his grudge against Samantha out on Shirley Miller.

Today’s dinner seems to be a setup - who knows what kind of demands he’ll make?

Carson Flores pondered for a moment, realizing that he definitely couldn’t meet Hugo Combs in person; otherwise, not only would he give himself away, but Combs would not hesitate to make life hard for Shirley Miller.

Since Hugo Combs is a government official, using violence against him is obviously not appropriate. After all, Combs is now abusing his authority, exploiting the situation. If one wants to get out of this predicament, they must start somewhere else.

After mulling it over, Carson Flores had an idea and stood up to leave his office.

He needed to prepare something.

At the same time, Shirley Miller was sitting in her office, deep in thought, and eventually also got up and left.

Carson had saved her last time, and she hadn’t had the chance to thank him yet. Now she was about to bother him again, so she should at least show some appreciation.

Moreover, she couldn’t really go to meet Hugo Combs empty-handed tonight.

She needed to prepare something too.

...

Before leaving work, Carson Flores drove back to the company.

He had just parked his car in the underground garage when he saw a familiar white BMW X7 drive in.

Carson Flores was slightly surprised - Shirley Miller was also just returning?

Shirley parked her car, and then Carson’s phone rang.

”Are you done with your work?”

Carrying a small pouch, Carson got out of the car while answering the phone, ”It’s done.”

Shirley whispered, ”I’m waiting for you in the garage... ”

Shirley didn’t wait to hear Carson’s reply through the phone when suddenly someone knocked on her car door.

Startled, Shirley turned her head to see it was Carson Flores. She breathed a sigh of relief and hurriedly unlocked the car door.

”What are you doing here? You scared me.”

Carson sat in the back seat, smiling, ”I went out to pick up a few things and just got back.”

Shirley’s face showed a slight embarrassment, ”I also went out to buy something... here, this is for you.”

Carson was taken aback, looking at the handbag Shirley was handing over, ”What’s this?”

Shirley’s cheeks reddened slightly, ”You saved me last time, and I haven’t even thanked you yet. I’m troubling you again today, and I’m really embarrassed. This is a little token of my appreciation, please accept it.”

An open smile appeared on Carson’s face, ”Okay!”

Accepting the handbag, Carson opened the small box inside, and his eyes brightened slightly.

Inside the box was a Patek Philippe men’s watch with a black metal Compass, dignified yet elegantly grand – a new model that had just been released this year, commanding a high price.

”This is quite the hefty gift, isn’t it? This watch must be worth millions.”

Shirley pressed her lips together slightly, ”Compared to the help you’ve given me, a watch is nothing. It’s just a small gesture of my gratitude.”

Carson laughed, ”The watch is beautiful, and I really like it, thank you!”

Seeing Carson accept the gift, Shirley exhaled a sigh of relief.

Independent by nature, she didn’t like owing favors. As she said, Carson had saved her, which was saving her life; naturally, a watch couldn’t repay such a debt, but at least it showed her thanks.

”As long as you like it... Shall we head out now?”

”Hold on.”

Carson took out his own handbag and, smiling, brought out a small box, ”I also have a little gift for you.”

Shirley’s beautiful eyes widened with surprise.

A gift?

For her?

Why would he give her a present for no reason?

But Carson didn’t hand the box to her; instead, he opened it himself, revealing a pair of jade earrings inside.

”These earrings have a small device inside them that can track and eavesdrop. Wear them, and I’ll be able to hear everything you say, and it will even record. I think there might be something to gain tonight...”

Shirley’s distracted mind snapped back to reality – so, it wasn’t a real gift.

An eavesdropping device?

For some reason, Shirley felt a twinge of inexplicable disappointment.

Carson handed her the earrings, ”There’s a protuberance on the back of these earrings. Press it, and the device will start working. It will connect with an app on my phone, and I’ll be able to check your location and overhear the conversations around you. Press it again to stop it.”

Shirley inspected the earrings, feeling amazed. These weren’t something one could just buy anywhere, were they?

”Where did you get such intricate gadgets?”

Carson smiled, ”Special channels... Go ahead and wear them. We don’t want to have another incident where I’m outside unaware of what’s happening inside a soundproof room.”

”Okay!”

Shirley obediently took off her own earrings and put on the pair of jade ones, checking the mirror in the car. They matched her flawlessly.

Carson admired them, ”They look good on you, although the quality of the jade is average at best. Make do with them.”

”Thank you!”

Shirley politely thanked him, her mood unexpectedly lifted.

A gift he gave her?

Sort of, right?
