Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 365: Chapter 363: Tactical Deployment

As Gu Xi was speaking, the steel city gate appeared less than a hundred meters before the Crystal Castle.

At the same time, the skeleton shooters began retreating onto the steel city gate, preparing to launch an attack on the enemies within the castle, leveraging the height of the gate.

Even the Well Dragon King didn’t expect Gu Xi’s attack would come this close, or be executed in this manner.

He thought he would encounter means like ants swarming a city.

This suddenly turned into an attack between two city walls less than a hundred meters apart.

Is this a confrontation between two gate towers?

Yes, Gu Xi currently had no way to deploy arrow towers and moats.

However, the skeleton shooters under his command could get onto the city gates.

In this way, the height occupied by Gu Xi’s troops was different.

Gu Xi also didn’t need to hastily send troops to assault the enemy’s city walls, at the same time, he could strike the enemy on their walls.

This instantly changed the way the battle was fought.

It could be said that this left the Well Dragon King completely stunned.

He had never encountered anything like this before.

However, the Well Dragon King also reacted quickly, immediately ordering his men to counterattack Gu Xi.

Under his command, there was also an archer team, similar to fishman shooters.

Because of their relatively short arms, they wielded weapons similar to light crossbows.

Nevertheless, crossbows were far superior to bows and arrows.

Their range was also around a hundred meters.

It could be said that at the same height, the battle turned into a conflict between shooters.

The only advantage of Gu Xi’s troops was that the skeleton soldiers had a strong ability to dodge piercing attacks, so many of the incoming crossbow arrows did not hit the skeleton shooters.

On the contrary, the skeleton shooters, under the guidance of the boss, were able to accurately hit the enemy fishman crossbowmen.

As soon as the battle began, the fishmen suffered considerable casualties.

Thus, the Well Dragon King began deploying the fishmen troops onto the walls to prepare for the upcoming battle.

In the Well Dragon King’s view, as long as the opponent’s firepower suppressed them, the next step would be using weapons like horizontal planks for charge and kill.

At that time, sending people onto the walls would put the situation in their control.

But they didn’t consider that the Well Dragon King was experienced in battle, able to lead so many demon troops into daylight battles; without some capability, how could he have secured such a grand Well Dragon Palace?

With these thoughts, the Well Dragon King, who had been situated at the back of the castle, reached out and touched the large saber by his side.

This large saber was crafted from crystal and dragon horn, grown with him, and refined with rules over the years, it was a prized possession and his confidence in victory.

Though he hadn’t personally engaged in a long time, he wasn’t concerned about a decline in his combat power.

Because he had this large saber.

At that moment, Gu Xi launched his second move.

”The enemy’s invading!”

The Well Dragon King heard the sound from outside.

He laughed heartily, standing up: ”Push all the troops onto the walls, prevent any aerial assaults from the enemy. Move quickly, don’t be frightened by the appearance of a city gate, we are the defenders.”

But just as he reached the balcony, he saw an unbelievable sight: a city gate appeared within his castle, with Gu Xi’s soldiers passing through it, bypassing the Crystal Palace’s city walls, and emerging directly inside.

Because a street battle might ensue, Gu Xi didn’t arrange for the Black Spear Camp, suitable for large legion battles, to enter. Instead, he dispatched the remaining undead troops.

They were led by the undead boss, divided into combat squads, battling with their own styles.

As for what the final result would be, Gu Xi didn’t have too many expectations.

Having sent them inside the city, if they couldn’t perform well, then those undead were meant to die.

Gu Xi wouldn’t be heartbroken for them, just like how he lost a large number of ghosts this time.

When the ghosts died, Gu Xi only regretted the hard work collecting ghosts over the days and reflected on his missteps, but he didn’t resolve to retrieve all those ghosts.

The current situation was the same.

Using the gateway, Gu Xi sent the undead troops into the Well Dragon Palace, closely monitoring everything on the battlefield.

Being somewhat distant, Gu Xi couldn’t use his attack methods on the battlefield, so he opted to use his enhancement methods on it.

Skeleton Priest.

This time, Gu Xi didn’t release just one skeleton priest but a large number of them.

Not only were they present at the city wall here but where the city gate was placed in the enemy’s city too.

Under the influence of the skeleton priests, the combat power of Gu Xi’s undead troops increased once more.

Furthermore, having suddenly burst out of the city gate, charging towards various locations, their numbers exceeded the troops within the Crystal Palace, subjecting the defending troops to attacks from all directions.

Particularly those fishman crossbowmen assigned by the Well Dragon King to the city walls.

Because inside the Well Dragon Palace, they were not defended from inside the castle.

The staircase to the gate tower was built right here.

The undead under Gu Xi immediately rushed towards the staircase, aiming to attack the fishman crossbowmen.

In the eyes of these undead bosses, shooters caught by close combat troops had no combat power left.

As a large group of undead rushed towards the walls, some undead realized they couldn’t keep up with their companions. They thought for a moment, then changed their targets, starting to charge into the castle.

Some blocked fishmen soldiers rushing out from inside the castle, while others began to destroy the Crystal Palace’s structures directly.

This action filled the Well Dragon King, standing at the balcony, with fury.

”You should all die!”

The Well Dragon King shouted loudly.

In the Well Dragon King’s view, this was a slap to his face.

Since the establishment of the Well Dragon Palace, he had never faced such a situation.

This was a disgrace to the Well Dragon King.

With these thoughts, the Well Dragon King, wielding his large saber, jumped directly from the balcony, his saber sweeping horizontally, cutting at least a dozen undead nearby in half.

After killing those undead, the Well Dragon King didn’t pause, but quickly rushed towards the city gate that had fallen into his castle.

He had discerned that this gate was the key; as long as it was eliminated, preventing the continuous emergence of undead troops, his Well Dragon Palace still had a chance.

Yet the Well Dragon King never expected that the troops Gu Xi sent over this time numbered just about two thousand.

Now, with everyone in place, Gu Xi no longer needed to keep the city gate here.

Thus, with a wave of his hand, two additional city gates appeared in front of the Crystal Palace, aligned with the initial steel city gate.

Forming a platform where skeleton shooters and skeleton mages could stand, confronting the enemy head-on.
