Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 144: Chapter 144: Fun to Mistreat the Wife, But a Crematorium to Win Her Back?

Gu Jiaguo, who had been innocently caught in the crossfire, was now completely speechless.

His face darkened as he turned to glare at his son.

”Er...”

Gu Yifan said helplessly, ”Dad, don’t tell me you want to yell at me too?”

The corner of Gu Jiaguo’s mouth twitched. His tone was cold as he said, ”If you weren’t my son, I’d beat the hell out of you!”

Gu Yifan: ”...-_-||”

”The way you’ve handled this whole thing with Qinghe... you’re a real piece of work!”

With that, Gu Jiaguo stood up and turned to walk toward the bedroom.

As if remembering something, he suddenly stopped, looked back at Gu Yifan, and said coldly, ”I’ll remind you one last time. If you don’t handle this situation with Qinghe properly, your mother will probably never speak to you again for the rest of her life.”

Gu Yifan: ”...”

After saying his piece, Gu Jiaguo didn’t linger. He opened the bedroom door and went straight inside, leaving Gu Yifan alone and in disarray in the living room...

He glanced at his parents’ closed bedroom door, then turned to look at the door to Su Qinghe’s room, feeling helpless.

’That’s not it!’

Gu Yifan touched the tip of his nose, a bitter expression on his face. ’It’s not like I ever said I didn’t want to be with Su Qinghe, did I?’

”Sigh...”

He let out a soft sigh and once again glanced in the direction of Su Qinghe’s room.

’Hanhan must be so sad right now...’

He actually understood everything his dad had just said.

He understood the logic, but the problem was that the damn system’s favorability score still hadn’t reached 200%!

That’s right!

Ever since the system told him their favorability was at 199%, all these days had passed, and that number still hadn’t changed one bit!

Otherwise, back at the hotel on the return trip, he would have ”eaten” Su Qinghe right then and there!

Why would he have waited until now!

As for what his mom said about him still having Han Ning on his mind, that was complete nonsense!

From the moment he was reborn and decided to stop being a simp, he and Han Ning were already on two parallel lines that would never intersect again!

But looking at it from another angle, wasn’t it just as his father said? In this matter with Su Qinghe, he really wasn’t being a decent person.

Maybe it was because the aftereffects of being a simp in his past life were too severe.

’In this life, I’ve been deliberately avoiding this issue from the bottom of my heart!’

He’d been taking for granted how good Su Qinghe was to him, enjoying this ambiguous relationship.

In other words, wasn’t he just stringing Su Qinghe along, the same way Han Ning had strung him along in his past life?

’Do not do to others what you would not have them do to you.’

’Thinking about it this way, I really am a piece of work, aren’t I?’

Did he like Su Qinghe?

Gu Yifan had actually thought about this question seriously before.

The answer was yes.

It was just that he couldn’t bring himself to open his heart and completely accept Su Qinghe the way he had with Han Ning when he was a simp in his past life.

To put it another way, he had a thorn in his heart. He didn’t dare to give his all and be completely sincere again.

Sigh...

’If I have to blame something, it’s the post-simp trauma from my past life. It’s too deeply ingrained, it’s left a shadow on me!’

’Han Ning...’

’Yes!’

’It’s all Han Ning’s fault!’

’That’s right!’

’No doubt about it!’

’It’s all fucking Han Ning’s fault!’

Gu Yifan shamelessly thought to himself.

But...

...wasn’t this just a weak and pathetic way of making excuses to comfort himself?

’In this life, why should I still let Han Ning affect me?’

’Not being a simp doesn’t conflict with liking Su Qinghe, does it?’

Fuck it!

To hell with the system mission!

To hell with the favorability score!

Gu Yifan decided he was done with all of it.

System: ”...”

After thinking it through, Gu Yifan’s gaze became incredibly determined.

He stood up and slowly walked to the door of Su Qinghe’s room, then knocked.

”KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK—”

A series of not-too-heavy knocks sounded.

Su Qinghe, who was lying in bed staring blankly at the ceiling, instinctively turned her head toward the door when she heard the sound.

”Hanhan, are you asleep yet?”

At the same time, Gu Yifan’s voice came from outside the door.

Su Qinghe paused for a moment. She hesitated, then softly replied, ”N-no, not yet.”

Her voice wasn’t loud, but Gu Yifan, standing right by the door, heard it.

”Mm... I’m coming in then!”

Gu Yifan said, and without waiting for Su Qinghe to agree, he opened the door and walked right in.

Before Su Qinghe could even react, Gu Yifan appeared in front of her.

Their eyes met.

Su Qinghe’s expression was a little unnatural. Her gaze instinctively darted away, not daring to meet Gu Yifan’s.

Seeing that Su Qinghe’s eyes were still slightly red-rimmed, Gu Yifan felt a pang in his heart.

”Hanhan~”

Gu Yifan began.

”Hm?”

Su Qinghe responded in a small voice.

”Let’s talk,” Gu Yifan said softly.

”Oh, okay.”

Su Qinghe was stunned for a second, then nodded gently.

Then, Gu Yifan walked to the side of the bed and sat down.

He looked at Su Qinghe and asked, ”Do you like me?”

”Ah?”

The moment he said it, Su Qinghe’s face instantly turned red. Even the fair skin on her neck was tinged with pink, and she was overcome with shyness.

”Mhm.”

After a moment of silence, Su Qinghe didn’t dare to look at Gu Yifan and just nodded slightly.

”Okay, and do you think I like you?”

Gu Yifan asked again.

Hearing his words, Su Qinghe first glanced up at him, then averted her gaze again. She lowered her head and said in a small voice, ”I... I don’t know.”

Her tone was filled with uncertainty.

”Oh.”

Gu Yifan nodded, then suddenly said, ”Su Hanhan, let’s be together!”

”Huh?”

Su Qinghe’s eyes suddenly lit up. She lifted her head and looked at Gu Yifan in astonishment.

”Su Hanhan, I said, let’s be together. Are you willing?”

Gu Yifan said with a serious expression, looking into her eyes.

A flash of joy crossed Su Qinghe’s eyes. She first nodded, but then, as if she suddenly thought of something, she shook her head.

”Huh?”

Now it was Gu Yifan’s turn to be stunned.

’Nodding and then shaking her head, is that a yes or a no?’

He was confused for a moment.

”Su Hanhan, what’s that supposed to mean? You don’t want to be with me?”

Gu Yifan asked, perplexed.

”I... I do... but I don’t want you to regret it.”

”I don’t want you to be with me just because you feel pressured or guilty because of what your parents said.”

Su Qinghe thought for a moment before speaking in a small voice.

”Er...”

”Hanhan, don’t worry. That’s not why I’m saying this!”

”Everything I just said came from my heart. I’m serious, so you don’t have to worry about anything!”

Gu Yifan said, his tone soft and gentle as he looked at her.

After hearing Gu Yifan’s words, Su Qinghe’s eyes showed a hint of struggle, but in the end, she still gently shook her head.

...
