Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 113: Chapter 113: Ye Wanqing: To Win Gu Yifan Back, You Must Drop That Arrogant Attitude

9:30 PM.

Cuihu District, Building 19, Unit 8, Apartment 906.

Ye Wanqing looked at Han Ning, whose eyes were red and swollen from crying, and couldn’t help but furrow her brow. By now, she already knew what had happened.

After seeing Wang Zibo and Wu Xiaoyan off, she looked at her daughter, who seemed somewhat dazed. Her heart was filled with helplessness, but even more with heartache.

Sigh...

”Why did it have to come to this!”

She sighed softly and shook her head.

The two of them had been closer than anyone since they were little, but now things had come to this. It was something no one could have ever imagined.

Although she knew she couldn’t blame Gu Yifan for this, seeing her daughter so heartbroken, she couldn’t help but hold something against him.

’He’s the one who made my daughter so sad!’

’Putting the facts aside, isn’t he even a little bit at fault?!’

If Gu Yifan knew what Ye Wanqing was thinking right now, he’d probably be staggered.

Not even the Tathagata Buddha himself could take a hit like that!

...

”Don’t be sad, sweetheart. Don’t be sad anymore. It’s alright, Mom will back you up!”

Ye Wanqing said softly, hugging her daughter.

Hearing her mother’s words, the sense of grievance welled up in Han Ning’s heart all over again. She turned to her mother and said in a choked voice, ”Mom, Gu Yifan rejected me. He doesn’t want me. He really doesn’t want me...”

SOB SOB SOB...

With that, she couldn’t stop herself from crying again.

”There, there, sweetheart. Don’t be sad. My baby is so beautiful and so wonderful. If Gu Yifan rejected you, it’s his loss!”

”It’s okay. Don’t cry, don’t cry.”

Ye Wanqing continued.

”But I don’t want him to leave me!”

SOB SOB SOB...

At her mother’s comforting words, Han Ning only cried harder.

Large tears streamed endlessly from her red, swollen eyes. Her mouth was slightly agape, and she was choking on her sobs.

’This...’

’Before, Gu Yifan was always falling over himself to be good to you. You just quietly enjoyed it, and sometimes you were even a little disdainful. Now that he’s ignoring you and not treating you well anymore, you’re full of regret!’

’You don’t know what you have until it’s gone!’

Watching this unfold, Ye Wanqing was at a loss for words.

But Han Ning was her daughter. Seeing her so heartbroken, Ye Wanqing knew that the roles in their relationship had started to reverse, and her daughter was already in deep.

”Xiaoning’er, do you really not want Gu Yifan to leave you?”

Ye Wanqing asked after a moment of thought.

”Uh-huh!”

Hearing her mother’s question, Han Ning looked up at her, nodding as tears streamed down her face.

”Alright, Mom understands.”

Seeing her daughter nod, Ye Wanqing thought for a moment before deciding to ask again, just to be sure.

”But, Xiaoning’er, Mom has to ask you one more time. Think about it carefully. Do you really like Gu Yifan, or do you just not want to lose how good he is to you?”

”This is very important!”

”If you don’t actually like him, and you just enjoy his constant, meticulous care and how he’s unconditionally good to you, then I think it’s better this way. After all, it wasn’t easy for him to finally decide to let you go. If you go and disturb his life again, that would be pretty unfair.”

She said, her tone earnest and serious.

’After all, their two families have been friends for so many years. If Xiaoning’er only enjoyed Gu Yifan’s kindness and was just upset now that it was gone, then it would be truly immoral for me to teach her how to win him back only to lead him on again!’

Hearing her mother’s question, Han Ning froze for a moment. She looked at her mother, a blank expression on her face.

”Xiaoning’er, you need to ask your own heart. If you truly like him, then Mom can help you try to win him back. But if you’re just upset that he’s ignoring you and not treating you well anymore, then let it be. You two should just be regular friends. That would be better for you, for Gu Yifan, and for the both of you!”

Seeing her daughter’s lost expression, Ye Wanqing spoke again, her face serious.

Seeing her mother suddenly become so serious, Han Ning momentarily forgot to cry.

She thought carefully about her mother’s words. Her mind flashed back to all the times Gu Yifan had been good to her, how he had cared for her so meticulously. Then she thought about the past few days, about the pain and sense of grievance she’d felt ever since he started ignoring her.

After a moment of silence, she lifted her head to look at her mother. Her voice was hoarse as she sobbed, ”Mom, I like Gu Yifan...”

’Just as I thought.’

Hearing her daughter’s words, Ye Wanqing felt a wave of resignation.

’Perhaps Xiaoning’er had fallen for Gu Yifan long ago, but the dynamic of their relationship had kept her from seeing her own heart clearly.’

’Now that Gu Yifan was gone, she could finally see her own feelings!’

’But it seemed a little too late...’

”Alright, sweetie, stop crying! Crying isn’t going to solve anything. This is when you need to pull yourself together. So Gu Yifan is ignoring you? Then you take the initiative and make him pay attention to you! You know the saying, ’A man chasing a woman is like scaling a mountain, but a woman chasing a man is like passing through a layer of gauze.’ Besides, you two already have a foundation of over a decade, and that Gu Yifan kid used to be so in love with you!”

Ye Wanqing said slowly.

”B-But... Gu Yifan seems to like someone else now. He doesn’t like me anymore!”

The tears on Han Ning’s face had stopped. She sniffled, her voice full of grievance.

”Er...”

Ye Wanqing froze. She’d almost forgotten about that.

’But she didn’t really believe that Gu Yifan would fall for someone else so quickly. That girl, Su, was probably just an excuse he was using to reject Xiaoning’er. At most, they were just friends right now!’

”Hah, my silly girl. Do you really believe that Gu Yifan doesn’t like you anymore?”

”Think about it. You two have known each other for more than ten years, and he’s liked you for so long. How could he just suddenly stop liking you? When he rejected you, he didn’t say he didn’t like you, did he?”

Ye Wanqing said softly, gently wiping a tear from the corner of Han Ning’s eye.

”Hmm?”

Han Ning paused, considering her mother’s words.

’She thought about it carefully. Her mom did seem to have a point!’

”And another thing!”

”For so long, it’s always been Gu Yifan giving one-sidedly. People get tired! Plus, you broke his heart when you rejected him last time, which is why he’s being so cold and distant now!”

”So, if you really want to win him back, you have to show him your resolve. You have to let him see that you’re serious!”

Ye Wanqing said, enunciating each word, ”And the most important thing is, you have to drop that proud and aloof act of yours!”
