Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 140: Chapter 140: Gu Yifan: I like girls who always have toothpaste on their clothes

”Come on, Su Hanhan. How am I supposed to apply the medicine if you keep your legs clamped so tight?”

Gu Yifan said, exasperated.

”Huh?”

Su Qinghe froze for a second. Then she heard Gu Yifan continue, ”Have you forgotten your ankle isn’t healed yet? Why were you running so fast just now?!”

A moment later, she felt a warm liquid being poured onto her foot. Then, Gu Yifan’s large, gentle hands began rubbing it back and forth over her ankle.

It was a little painful and a little itchy. A tingly, numbing sensation shot through her entire body.

”Oh...”

’So he just wanted to help me with the medicine!’ Su Qinghe finally realized.

’Then what I was just... thinking...’

Su Qinghe’s face instantly turned as red as a tomato. She wished she could dig a hole and bury herself in it!

’I could just die of embarrassment!’

’BOOHOO...’

Luckily, Gu Yifan was crouched by the side of the bed and couldn’t see the look on her face, or else Su Qinghe would have wanted to die right then and there!

...

「Ten minutes later.」

”All done!”

Gu Yifan clapped his hands, then stood up. ”The swelling has gone down,” he said. ”Just try not to hop around for a while, and it should be completely healed in a couple of days!”

”Okay, okay.”

The color had returned to Su Qinghe’s face by then. She nodded obediently.

”Alright, that’s settled. Get some sleep. We’ll head straight for home first thing in the morning,”

Gu Yifan said, glancing at her.

With that, he turned and left, flicking off the main room light on his way out.

The moment Gu Yifan was gone, Su Qinghe rolled over and pulled the covers over her head.

’BOOHOO...’

...

「The next morning.」

Gu Yifan woke up early. He pulled open the curtains to find the world outside gray and overcast.

”Looks like it’s about to rain,” he muttered under his breath.

He changed his clothes, then pushed open his door to go wash up.

As soon as he opened his door, Su Qinghe opened hers from across the hall.

”Morning, Su Hanhan!”

Gu Yifan paused for a second, then smiled.

”Morn... Morning.”

Su Qinghe returned the greeting quietly.

Afterward, the two of them went to the bathroom together to wash up.

Acting like a dutiful young wife, Su Qinghe naturally took Gu Yifan’s toothbrush, squeezed toothpaste onto it, and handed it to him.

They had spent every day together for a while now, and this had become her daily routine. Both of them were already used to it.

”It looks like it’s about to rain,” Gu Yifan said, his voice muffled as he brushed his teeth. ”We should leave right after breakfast. It won’t be safe to drive if it starts pouring later.”

Su Qinghe understood him, however. She nodded lightly. ”Whatever you say.”

As they were talking, Gu Yifan suddenly noticed a dab of foamy toothpaste stuck to the eye on Su Qinghe’s Pikachu pajamas.

”Uh...”

”You’ve got toothpaste on your pajamas!”

Gu Yifan said, pointing at her chest.

”Hm?”

Su Qinghe froze. She instinctively glanced down and saw that the drop of toothpaste had landed right on...

In an instant, her face flushed crimson.

Gazing at the... ample... Pikachu, Gu Yifan suddenly remembered something from his past life. All the LSPs online used to say they loved girls who were always getting toothpaste on their clothes. They said those kinds of girls were carefree and adorably dorky...

’Today, I think I finally understand what they meant.’

’And I have to admit, I like girls like that too!’

For a moment, the atmosphere in the bathroom grew a little intimate.

”I... I’m done. I’ll go pack my things now.”

After finishing up, Su Qinghe muttered this and then fled!

Gu Yifan watched her beat a hasty retreat, a slight smile playing on his lips.

...

「June 23, 2013. Just past 11:00 PM.」

The normally dead class group chat suddenly exploded with activity, as if everyone had been shot up with adrenaline.

The reason was simple.

Because in about an hour, the college entrance exam scores were set to be released.

”Hey hey hey!”

”Hearts pounding, hands shaking!”

”Everyone, we can check our scores soon! Are you all ready?”

”Holy crap, now that you mention it, I’m suddenly getting nervous!”

”Yeah, I don’t even know if I’ll make the cutoff for a second-tier university!”

”My whole family is gathered around the computer right now!”

”I’m ready for a tag-team beatdown from my mom and dad!”

”Sigh, I’m so nervous!”

”Chill, guys. Anyone wanna party up and play a game?”

”Hey, you guys think Gu Yifan will be the top scorer this year?”

”Who knows until the scores are out!”

”It’s a safe bet it’s him!”

”I think so too!”

...

Meanwhile, in Apartment 305, Unit 3, Building 7 of Cuihu District.

Gu Yifan, his parents, and Su Qinghe were all sitting in the living room, watching TV.

That’s right!

Gu Yifan and Su Qinghe had been back in Mountain City for three or four days.

Compared to the tense excitement in the class group chat, the mood at Gu Yifan’s home was far more serene.

”Hey, Su Hanhan, peel an orange for me!”

Gu Yifan said nonchalantly to Su Qinghe, who was sitting beside him on the sofa.

”Okay, okay.”

Su Qinghe nodded, then picked up an orange from the coffee table and started to peel it.

Seeing Gu Yifan order Su Qinghe around, Chen Dongmei shot him a glare. ”Gu Yifan!” she snapped. ”You rotten kid, making Qinghe peel oranges for you again. What, did your hands fall off?!”

Then she turned to Su Qinghe and said, ”Qinghe, don’t mind him. If he wants to eat it, he can peel it himself!”

Gu Yifan: ”Uh (°_°)...”

Su Qinghe, however, froze. She glanced first at Chen Dongmei, then at Gu Yifan, and said quietly, ”Auntie, it’s alright. I don’t mind peeling it.”

Chen Dongmei: ”...”

Her expression faltered.

’This...’

’So I was the clown all along???’

She shook her head, exasperated. ”Oh, Qinghe,” she sighed. ”You’re just going to spoil him rotten!”

”Sooner or later, he’s going to be completely insufferable because of you!”

Su Qinghe’s face flushed slightly. Not daring to say a word, she lowered her head and continued peeling the orange in silence.

Seeing his mom get shot down, Gu Yifan, who was sitting on the side, couldn’t help but start snickering.

”You rotten kid, what’s so funny!”

Chen Dongmei’s eyes shot wide. ”It’s been a few days since I last hit you, hasn’t it?” she said, her face darkening. ”Are you itching for a beating?!”

”Hic...”

At her words, the smile vanished from Gu Yifan’s face.

’Sigh.’

’I really have the lowest status in this family.’

”The orange... is ready.”

Su Qinghe said quietly, handing him the peeled orange. Gu Yifan silently took it and began to eat.

When Chen Dongmei saw him feigning ignorance and ignoring her, she grew even more incensed.

But she was helpless to do anything about it!

Seeing this, Gu Jiaguo, who was sitting nearby, feared he’d get caught in the crossfire. He quickly changed the subject. ”Ahem, son,” he said, ”aren’t the college entrance exam scores out today? I ran into Han Jianzhang at the entrance to the district this morning, and he said they were being released today. You should log on to the website and double-check!”
