Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 124: Chapter 124: Gu Yifan: Su Hanhan, Wake Up, Time to Pee

Gu Yifan was utterly flummoxed by Su Qinghe’s earnest little expression.

’And she still claims she’s not a Hanhan. Who’d believe that!’

He shook his head with a sigh and decided to drop the subject.

...

「The next morning, 5:30 AM.」

”Su Hanhan, let’s tiptoe out of here. Not a sound!”

Gu Yifan whispered to Su Qinghe beside him.

”Mm-hm.”

Su Qinghe looked at Gu Yifan and nodded earnestly.

The sky was just beginning to lighten, and they were both washed up and ready to go.

The reason Gu Yifan was up so early was to avoid having his parents see them off and turning it into a sad, emotional farewell.

Alright, fine.

The main reason, actually, was that he didn’t want to listen to his mom’s nagging anymore.

He’d already listened to her go on for the entire previous evening, and he’d had enough!

”Su Hanhan, you got everything?”

Gu Yifan asked, turning his head to Su Qinghe.

”Mm-hm... Got it all.”

Su Qinghe nodded.

”Good!”

”Alright, let’s head out!”

Gu Yifan nodded and declared with a grand wave of his hand.

With that, the two of them set off, each pulling a suitcase...

Down in the underground parking garage, Gu Yifan and Su Qinghe were already in the car.

When Gu Yifan started the car right after buckling her seatbelt for her, Su Qinghe asked, a little confused, ”Um... isn’t Wang Zibo coming with us?”

”Oh, I forgot to tell you. He had something come up at the last minute, so he’s not coming anymore,”

Gu Yifan explained.

That was right.

After yesterday’s ”divorced with two kids” incident, Wang Zibo had lost all his vitality.

All he wanted now was to sleep for a few days and nights straight.

So, he had told Gu Yifan yesterday afternoon that he was backing out of the road trip. He was afraid that if he came along, being forced to watch Gu Yifan and Su Qinghe’s public displays of affection the entire way would just make him feel even more miserable.

Why did other people get to have a sweet, loving relationship, while he was stuck with this bizarre ”divorced with two kids” melodrama?

At that rate, he’d probably feel like dying!

So, it was better for him to stay behind and lick his wounds in private to avoid any further emotional damage.

However, Gu Yifan couldn’t very well tell Su Qinghe all this. After all, even though Wang Zibo usually seemed devil-may-care, the man still had his pride.

”Oh, okay.”

Seeing that Gu Yifan didn’t elaborate, Su Qinghe didn’t press the issue.

In her eyes, as long as Gu Yifan was with her, that was all that mattered. Whether Wang Zibo came or not was totally unimportant!

6:10 AM.

After grabbing a bowl of noodles each at a breakfast shop near their complex, the two set off into the morning sun.

The early morning sun wasn’t yet harsh, and as it streamed through the front windshield and fell upon their faces, it brought a pleasant warmth.

The journey from Mountain City to Minnan Zhang City was over sixteen hundred kilometers, close to seventeen hundred. Driving nonstop on the highway would take nearly a full day.

Of course, Gu Yifan had no intention of driving that long in one go. He had already booked a hotel in Tan State for the afternoon. They weren’t in any rush, and since they were passing through, how could they not sample the local Hunan cuisine!

As for how many days they’d stay, they would just play it by ear. If they had fun, they’d stay a couple of extra days. If not, they’d rest for the night and continue on to Su Qinghe’s hometown—Minnan Zhang City—the next day.

”Hanhan~”

Su Qinghe was leaning against the window, her head tilted as she curiously watched the scenery rush by. When she suddenly heard Gu Yifan call her name, she turned to look at him, puzzled.

”How about we stop and get a hotel in Tan State this afternoon? I can take you out for some of their famous food tonight, and we can hang around for a couple of days before heading to your hometown,”

Gu Yifan said, laying out his plan for Su Qinghe.

”Mm-hm.”

Su Qinghe nodded gently. ”Whatever you say.”

”Great!”

”Then it’s settled!”

Gu Yifan nodded. ”Okay... If you get sleepy, just recline your seat and take a nap. And if the AC gets too cold, there’s a blanket in the back seat you can grab.”

Su Qinghe’s heart swelled with emotion, touched by how thoughtfully he had planned everything out.

”Mm-hm, I know,”

she nodded and replied softly.

Hearing her reply, Gu Yifan didn’t say anything more. He casually turned on the car stereo, and music began to fill the cabin.

”The world in the rearview shrinks, a farewell growing more distant... You turn your back to me, yet your silhouette is still so beautiful...”

As the music played, Gu Yifan steered the car slowly toward the on-ramp for the elevated highway.

...

Time passed.

Gu Yifan had now been driving on the highway for over two hours.

He glanced to his side and discovered that the little Hanhan, Su Qinghe, had fallen asleep at some point.

Her brow was slightly furrowed, as if she were dreaming.

Sunlight dappled her face, tipping her long eyelashes with gold. Her exquisite features were flawless from any angle, making it impossible to look away.

’Good thing I’ve been seeing this face every day and have gotten used to it,’ Gu Yifan thought. ’Otherwise, there might have been a real ”safety” incident!’

Shaking his head with a small smile, he reached over to pull the blanket up higher over her before focusing back on the road.

...

An hour later, Gu Yifan slowly pulled the car into a highway rest area.

Once parked, Gu Yifan gently woke the slumbering Su Qinghe.

”Nghh~”

Su Qinghe let out a soft murmur. Her long eyelashes fluttered, and she slowly opened her eyes.

Her gaze was still hazy with sleep, but it cleared completely the moment she focused on Gu Yifan’s handsome face.

Her face flushed slightly as she whispered, ”Are... are we there?”

”Not yet!”

”We’re at a rest stop. You’ve been asleep for a few hours. Time to go potty!”

Gu Yifan said with a teasing smile.

”Huh?”

Hearing Gu Yifan use the word ”potty,” Su Qinghe’s already pink face instantly turned beet red.

She desperately averted her gaze, not daring to meet his eyes.

”Alright, alright, I’ll stop teasing you.”

”I’ll walk you to the restroom, then I’ll go get some gas. We’ll head out again after that.”

”I think we can probably reach the Tan State border around 12:30 PM. We can find a place to eat once we get there.”

Gu Yifan reached out and gently pinched her rosy cheek as he spoke with a smile.

”Mm-hm.”

Her face still beet red, Su Qinghe responded with a hum that was as quiet as a mosquito’s buzz.

’This Hanhan, as thin-skinned as ever!’

Seeing her reaction, the smile on Gu Yifan’s face grew even wider.

...

Gu Yifan glanced at the receipt in his hand. The total came to 835 yuan.

’Honestly,’ he thought, ’this thing really is a gas guzzler!’

’Good thing I’m not short on cash right now, or I’d never dare take this car on a road trip!’

After waiting a little while longer,

Su Qinghe came out of the restroom.
