Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 137: Chapter 137: An Essential Childhood Program? Su Qinghe Is Shocked

WHIZ!

BANG~

BANG, BANG BANG BANG...!!!

Hahaha...

Gu Yifan was touring Su Qinghe’s alma mater with her, reminiscing about her childhood, when suddenly the sound of firecrackers erupted nearby.

It was accompanied by the sound of children laughing and playing.

Gu Yifan and Su Qinghe turned their heads and saw a group of kids playing with firecrackers by a smelly ditch not far away.

”Hm?”

Gu Yifan paused. ’In my memory, aren’t these things only sold around the New Year?’

’It’s only June. They’re selling fireworks already?’

Watching those kids having a blast made Gu Yifan itch to join in.

Besides, it had been many years since he’d played with them, ever since the city implemented a total ban on fireworks.

”Su Hanhan, have you ever played with these?”

Gu Yifan turned his head and asked Su Qinghe casually.

”N-no.”

Su Qinghe shook her head gently.

”Huh?”

Gu Yifan froze for a second. ”No?”

He asked, a little puzzled, ”Didn’t you live in the village for a while when you were a kid? You never played with them back then?”

A shadow passed over Su Qinghe’s eyes. She shook her head again and said softly, ”When I was little, they wouldn’t play with me.”

”Er...”

Gu Yifan was taken aback. He’d almost forgotten about that.

”Hmm... Well, do you want to play?” he asked after a moment’s thought.

”Ah?”

Su Qinghe didn’t quite process that. She tilted her head, looking at Gu Yifan with a blank expression.

”The little fireworks those kids are playing with!”

”Do you want to play with them or not?”

Gu Yifan shot her a look and asked again.

”I do.”

After thinking it over seriously, Su Qinghe looked at Gu Yifan and nodded gently.

Seeing her earnest, silly expression, Gu Yifan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

”Alright!”

”Wait for me a second!”

With that, Gu Yifan turned and walked toward the group of children.

She saw him say something to the kids, and a moment later, joyous cheers erupted from their direction!

Then the whole group of children ran off in a boisterous crowd.

Su Qinghe stared at the scene, completely bewildered and confused.

Gu Yifan rubbed the tip of his nose and walked back to Su Qinghe.

”Just wait.”

Gu Yifan said lightly.

But Su Qinghe didn’t quite understand what he meant and looked puzzled.

Gu Yifan didn’t explain, so she had no choice but to swallow the words that were on the tip of her tongue.

...

「Ten minutes later.」

The group of kids who had just run off came back, carrying a cardboard box and running straight up to the two of them.

”Big Bro, we bought the stuff you wanted!”

The leader, a slightly older kid, grinned at Gu Yifan.

Gu Yifan glanced into the box, which was filled with all sorts of small fireworks. He nodded in satisfaction. ”You’re Ya Chasu, right? Nice job!”

”Hehe~”

The kid called Ya Chasu smiled shyly, then handed a wad of change to Gu Yifan. ”Big Bro, this is the money left over from buying the fireworks.”

”Hmm... No need. Take the change and split it with the others. Go buy yourselves whatever you want to eat.”

Gu Yifan said magnanimously, waving his hand.

Ya Chasu’s eyes lit up. He scratched the back of his head, a little embarrassed, and chuckled. ”Thanks, Big Bro! You’re the man!”

”Haha!”

”Alright, leave the box and go play!”

Gu Yifan said with a laugh, looking for all the world like the king of the kids.

”Okay~”

”Big Bro, Big Sis-in-law, you guys take your time and have fun!”

Ya Chasu nodded, then called to the group of kids around him, and they all left happily.

But hearing the child call her ”Big Sis-in-law” made Su Qinghe blush, and she gave Gu Yifan a strange look.

’It’s only been a few moments, and this ”Big Bully” has already become the king of the kids?’

”Hm?”

Gu Yifan noticed Su Qinghe’s odd gaze and asked, ”Su Hanhan, is there something on my face? Why are you looking at me like that?”

Su Qinghe pouted. ”N-no reason.”

”Oh!”

”Well, let’s go. I’m going to take you to relive... no, I’m going to let you experience the joys of childhood!”

”Hehehe...”

Gu Yifan said with a grin.

He then hoisted the cardboard box full of various small fireworks and gestured grandly.

...

「A few minutes later.」

「On a patch of overgrown grass outside the village.」

”Hey, Su Hanhan, see that over there?”

”There’s a fresh pile of cow dung. Go blow it up!”

Gu Yifan said, pointing into the distance.

It was noon, and the sun was vicious.

Under the scorching sun, a fresh, yellowish pile of cow dung glistened brightly. Judging by its sheen, it had most likely been deposited very recently.

”Huh???”

Su Qinghe froze. She followed Gu Yifan’s pointing finger, completely dumbfounded.

’Blow... blow up cow dung???’

Having never done such a thing, she instinctively swallowed and asked weakly, ”C-can I not do it?”

”Hm?”

Gu Yifan paused, looking at Su Qinghe in confusion. ”Why not?”

”I... I’m scared,” she said weakly, her face flushing.

”Pfft, it’s fine!”

Gu Yifan waved his hand. ”As long as you run away fast enough, the cow dung can’t catch you!”

Su Qinghe: ”...”

”Hey, how about this!”

”I’ll give you a demonstration!”

Seeing that Su Qinghe was still too scared, Gu Yifan grabbed a box of ”Monkey King” firecrackers and walked toward the pile of dung.

BANG~!

Watching that pile of cow dung explode before her very eyes, Su Qinghe was completely stunned...

”How about it? Pretty satisfying, right?”

Gu Yifan walked back to Su Qinghe, looking excited.

Su Qinghe: ”...-_-||”

This...

She gave Gu Yifan a strange look. For a moment, she actually couldn’t find a reason to argue with him!

Alright!

’Maybe... there is a tiny little bit of excitement?’

...

Gu Yifan found it rather amusing to see Su Qinghe looking so scared, yet so eager to play.

”Hey, Su Hanhan, it’s fine!”

”There’s really nothing to be afraid of. The worst that can happen is you singe your hand. These little firecrackers aren’t that powerful. It might hurt a little, but it won’t kill you!”

That rascal Gu Yifan stood to the side, goading her on. ”Besides, this is a required childhood activity! Once you do it, you’ll discover a whole new world! I guarantee you’ll fall in love with blowing up cow dung!”

Hearing Gu Yifan say this only made Su Qinghe more nervous. She just stood there, stunned, even more afraid to act.

”Come on, are you going to do it or not?”

”Stop being so fussy, you’re acting like a girl!”

Seeing her hesitate to light the fuse, Gu Yifan started getting anxious for her. Agitated, he pulled a cigarette from his pocket to calm his nerves.

But just as he was about to light it, he happened to see Su Qinghe light the ”torpedo” firecracker in her hand...
