Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 121: Chapter 121: The Love That Ended Before It Began

Sensing Gu Yifan seemed a little angry, Wang Zibo quickly said from the other end of the line, ”Don’t be like that, Brother Fan! You can’t just leave your bro hanging! I’m only telling you about this because I’m a little worried!”

”Oh? Didn’t you just say she doesn’t want anything from you? Why are you so worried now?”

Gu Yifan said mockingly.

”Er...”

Wang Zibo sounded completely embarrassed on the other end of the line.

”Wanru... she asked to meet up, and I... I don’t dare to go alone...”

He said after a moment of hesitation.

Gu Yifan: ”...”

’They’re already fucking meeting up, and he’s only telling me now?’ Gu Yifan was utterly speechless.

”You’re planning to go?”

Hearing Gu Yifan’s question, Wang Zibo hesitated before saying, ”Yeah... I want to. We’ve been talking for so long, after all. I wouldn’t be able to let it go if I don’t meet her at least once.”

Then, he added in a wheedling tone, ”Brother Fan, please come with me!”

Hearing this, Gu Yifan shook his head in resignation. ”When?”

”This afternoon at two-thirty, at Xingyue Cafe!”

Wang Zibo said hurriedly.

”Fine. Come to my place this afternoon, and I’ll go with you.”

Gu Yifan said grumpily, ”But let’s get one thing straight. I’m just going with you. I’ll wait for you outside. You handle the rest yourself!”

”Deal!”

”Brother Fan, it’s enough as long as you come with me!”

”If anything happens, I’ll text you. You can’t just leave me there!”

”Hehehe...”

Wang Zibo chuckled foolishly.

”Alright, that’s enough!”

”Damn it, you’re keeping me from my noodles!”

Gu Yifan said grumpily. Without waiting for Wang Zibo to keep rambling, he hung up the phone.

On the other end, Wang Zibo wasn’t angry that Gu Yifan had hung up on him. He just let out a silly chuckle.

Then, humming a little tune, he opened his wardrobe and started rummaging through it, determined to dress himself up nicely.

...

Meanwhile, on Gu Yifan’s end, he casually stuffed his phone back into his pocket and noticed Su Qinghe looking at him with a puzzled expression.

”Er... why are you looking at me like that?”

Gu Yifan frowned.

Su Qinghe didn’t answer, asking instead, ”Did something happen?”

”Oh, it’s just that guy Wang Zibo. He has a little situation.”

Gu Yifan didn’t explain further. After all, this business with Wang Zibo was bound to turn into some kind of joke, so he figured it was better not to say anything.

”Mm... after we finish eating, we’ll head home first. I’m going out with Wang Zibo this afternoon. You can help me pack my luggage at home, and I’ll be back later to take you to the movies.”

He added after a moment of thought.

”Oh, okay...”

Although Su Qinghe had her doubts, she didn’t press him since Gu Yifan wasn’t elaborating, and simply nodded obediently.

...

「Cuihu District, Building 7, Unit 3, Apartment 305.」

Just past one in the afternoon, Wang Zibo appeared at Gu Yifan’s doorstep.

When Gu Yifan saw Wang Zibo decked out in a suit and leather shoes, he was completely dumbfounded. ”What the hell is this getup? Aren’t you hot?”

Wang Zibo’s face flushed, and he said awkwardly, ”Ahem, I just wanted to make a good impression. I borrowed it from my dad. How is it? Do I look sharp?”

Gu Yifan shot him a look, completely speechless. ”Anyone who didn’t know better would think you sell insurance for some company!”

”You son of a bitch, all you ever do is roast me. Can’t you say something nice and praise me for once?!”

Wang Zibo grumbled with a look of resignation.

”Hey, can’t take a little criticism, can you?”

”Our teachers taught us not to lie since we were kids!”

”What can I do? I’m just that honest a person!”

Gu Yifan said lightly.

Wang Zibo: ”...”

’I don’t even want to talk anymore. I can never win an argument with Gu Yifan!’

’Back in the day, Princess Ning could still handle this guy, but now, even she’s no use!’

’I can’t win against him in an argument, and I can’t beat him in a fight. What am I supposed to do?’

’This is so frustrating!’

...

「Two-ten in the afternoon, Xingyue Cafe.」

Under Gu Yifan’s watchful gaze, Wang Zibo clutched a bouquet of freshly bought roses and walked apprehensively into the cafe.

Bored, Gu Yifan walked over to a nearby lounge chair, sat down, and started smoking while chatting on QQ with Su Qinghe, his Hanhan.

Su Qinghe was at home helping Gu Yifan pack his luggage, occasionally asking him if she should pack this shirt or those pants.

Gu Yifan didn’t find it annoying at all. He patiently told her what to pack and what to leave behind.

Su Hanhan: ”Oh, okay, I get it.”

After Su Qinghe sent that message, she went silent for a long time. ’She must be busy packing,’ Gu Yifan figured.

Gu Yifan didn’t mind. He casually put his phone back in his pocket and was just about to get up and go back to his car to enjoy the AC when he saw that damn Wang Zibo walking out of the cafe, still holding the bouquet of roses.

Seeing his deathly pale face and his dejected expression, like a rooster that had lost a fight, Gu Yifan was completely bewildered.

He pulled out his phone and checked the time. Wang Zibo had been inside for less than ten minutes in total.

Tsk~

’As expected of a man known as a quick-shooter!’

Gu Yifan shook his head slightly and walked over to him.

Just then, Wang Zibo saw Gu Yifan and forced a smile that looked worse than tears.

”Get in the car. We’ll talk there.”

Gu Yifan said with a frown.

...

”So, tell me. How was your ’seven-gold-bricks’ lady?”

Inside Gu Yifan’s G-Wagon, he cranked the AC up to full blast and turned to look at Wang Zibo, speaking lightly.

”Uh...”

Wang Zibo’s mouth hung slightly open, as if he wanted to speak but didn’t know where to begin.

Seeing his miserable state, Gu Yifan had a good idea of what had happened and didn’t rush him.

After a moment of silence, Wang Zibo looked up at Gu Yifan, his face looking like he was about to cry. ”Brother Fan, you got a smoke? Give me one.”

Gu Yifan said nothing, simply pulling his pack of Chunghwas from his pocket and handing it over.

CLICK~

INHALE...

EXHALE...

Wang Zibo took the pack, pulled out a cigarette, and lit it. He took a long, hard drag before finally speaking. ”Fuck, my first love was over before it even began!”

”Brother Fan, I should’ve listened to you and not come!” he said sullenly, taking another deep drag from his cigarette.

Gu Yifan glanced at him and said lightly, ”What exactly happened? Tell me.”

”Sigh, she really was as pretty as her photos, and she had a gentle personality, too!”

Wang Zibo said with a sigh.

”Heh~”

”That sounds pretty good, aside from her being a bit older!”

Gu Yifan took a sip of water and commented casually.

”Yeah, it was pretty good!”

Wang Zibo shot Gu Yifan a look and said, ”But!!”

”Damn it, she has two kids!!!”
