Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 115: Chapter 115: Blessed to Meet You, May I Fail Neither Time Nor You

”Walking in the rain, as the blue streetlights appear, we look at each other and embrace tightly in silence...”

As the two of them drew closer, the singing grew clearer.

Although the sound equipment was quite basic, it was easy to tell that the street performer was skilled. Her Cantonese pronunciation was also very accurate, with a hint of a Hong Kong Island accent. It was clear she had put in the effort to learn it properly.

The song drifted on the night breeze, echoing in the sky above the square and bringing an unusual warmth to the bustling night.

Many pedestrians who enjoyed music or a lively atmosphere stopped to listen, and before long, a sizable crowd had gathered.

Gu Yifan led Su Qinghe by the hand, weaving through the crowd to the very front.

Su Qinghe didn’t understand Cantonese, but she still thought it sounded beautiful.

”What’s the name of this song?”

She turned and whispered to Gu Yifan.

”Cold Rainy Night. It’s a classic old Cantonese song.”

Gu Yifan replied with a small smile.

”Oh, okay.”

Su Qinghe nodded as if she understood.

Just as they were whispering to each other, the system’s crisp, mechanical female voice rang in Gu Yifan’s mind.

DING!

”Random Quest triggered. The Host is requested to go on stage and sing an exclusive love song for the treasured girl, Su Qinghe, and astound everyone present.”

”Upon completion, you will be rewarded with one pair of tear-proof white silk stockings!”

[Note 1: The tear-proof white silk stockings are made from celestial silkworm silk. Besides being more beautiful than ordinary white stockings, they are warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Most importantly, the special material is tear-proof!]

Gu Yifan: ”...”

’He was starting to realize this damn system just loved to make a scene!’

’It always picks a time when there’s a huge crowd to pull some kind of stunt!’

And!

’White stockings...???’

’Damn it!’

’Last time it was black stockings, now it’s a pair of white ones. Is it going to be fishnets next?!’

’As expected!’

’This damn thing is no proper system!’

Gu Yifan was speechless.

But... speechless or not, he, Gu Yifan, really wanted to see what his dorky Su Qinghe would look like in white stockings!

’Besides, he already had a collector’s edition photo of her in black stockings, so shouldn’t he get a set with white stockings too?’

Hmm!

’Gu Yifan suddenly thought it might not be a bad idea to collect every style of stockings on the market, have Su Qinghe try them all on, and create a grand collector’s edition compilation.’

Meanwhile, Su Qinghe noticed Gu Yifan had suddenly gone quiet. She just assumed he was listening intently to the song and didn’t think much of it.

”Su Hanhan, do you want to hear me sing?”

Gu Yifan suddenly asked.

”Huh?”

Su Qinghe was taken aback for a moment. She turned to Gu Yifan and, seeing he didn’t look like he was joking, nodded earnestly. ”I do!”

”Alright!”

”Wait here!”

Gu Yifan said with a nod.

At that moment, the female performer happened to be finishing the last line of her song.

Seeing his chance, Gu Yifan let go of Su Qinghe’s hand and walked over. He first put a hundred-yuan bill into the guitar case, then approached the young woman. He pointed at Su Qinghe and whispered a few words in the performer’s ear. She looked stunned for a second, then smiled, nodded, and handed him the microphone and guitar.

Su Qinghe watched this unfold in a daze. ’I can’t believe he meant he would sing for me right now!’

BZZT—

Gu Yifan tested the mic, then spoke. ”First, I want to thank this young lady for lending me the stage. The next song is for someone very important in my life!”

Following Gu Yifan’s gaze, everyone in the crowd turned to look at Su Qinghe.

’So romantic!’

A flash of envy appeared in the eyes of many young women in the audience.

Feeling everyone’s eyes on her, the slightly socially awkward Su Hanhan’s face immediately turned red. She shyly lowered her head, suddenly nervous and unsure what to do.

”Alright!”

”Go for it, bro!”

”We’re rooting for you, handsome!”

CLAP CLAP CLAP...

People in the crowd shouted and clapped in encouragement.

”Haha, thank you all for the support and encouragement. I’m not a professional singer, so please don’t laugh if I’m terrible!”

Gu Yifan said with a laugh, holding the microphone.

”Hahaha...”

Hearing this, the crowd couldn’t help but laugh, finding Gu Yifan quite amusing.

”Alright!”

”No more pointless chatter, then. Let’s get started!”

Gu Yifan’s expression turned serious as he picked up the guitar and tested a chord.

TWANG~

A crisp, pleasant guitar note rang out, and Gu Yifan nodded slightly.

’This lady is a pro, alright. The guitar’s tone is tuned perfectly!’

Without any more talk, Gu Yifan’s fingers danced across the strings, and a beautiful, rhythmic melody began to fill the square.

”Hmm?”

Everyone’s eyes lit up. Although they didn’t recognize the intro, they all found the accompaniment beautiful.

While the crowd was still wondering, Gu Yifan brought the microphone to his lips and began to sing: ”The first time I saw your shy smile, it was a signal of love sent to me. In this chaotic world, the beauty of a fluttering heart...”

...

The moment Gu Yifan finished the first line, everyone’s eyes went wide.

The performer standing next to him, who had been ready to jump in and save him if he failed, was now staring at Gu Yifan in utter shock.

’You can tell a pro the moment they open their mouth!’

’Professional!’

’Definitely professional-singer level!’

’Others might not be able to tell, but she could!!!’

”Holy shit, what kind of heavenly voice is that?!”

Someone in the crowd blurted out a curse involuntarily.

”Shhh...”

”Quiet!”

The people around glared at him, signaling him to be quiet.

Meanwhile, in the crowd, Su Qinghe was also completely captivated by Gu Yifan’s singing.

’I had a feeling he’d be a good singer, but I never imagined he’d be *this* good!’

’And... he just said this song was for the most important person in his life...’

At that thought, a blush crept back onto her cheeks. She was both shy and deeply moved, a warm feeling spreading through her heart.

However, Gu Yifan was oblivious to the audience’s thoughts. He continued to sing:

”I love to kiss you gently in my arms, to quietly feel the soft tips of your hair. Your small shoulders have a great big person to lean on...”

His gentle, magnetic voice struck everyone’s heart like a bullet, making them feel as if they had suddenly returned to the sweet puppy love of their youth.

Everyone present couldn’t help but smile, their faces showing fond, doting expressions.

As the guitar’s rhythm quickened, changed key, and began to soar, Gu Yifan’s voice rose with it. The melody was at times gentle, at times soaring, like a lover whispering in one’s ear: ”Living a simple life out of a complex one, because I have you with me. How I wish I could just hold your hand like this forever.”

”Blessed to be in love with you, the rest of my life is for you. Blessed that fate arranged for us to watch the sea of flowers together,

Blessed that this dialogue of ours will never change on the long road ahead...”

The crowd was completely lost in the world of the music, unable to pull themselves away. Everyone gently closed their eyes, feeling the emotions in the lyrics, reliving the initial flutter of a beautiful first love buried deep in their hearts.

Only Su Qinghe kept her eyes fixed intently on Gu Yifan, her mind racing with unknown thoughts...
