Moving On from the Tsundere, I Choose the Perfect Sweetheart

Chapter 108: Chapter 108: Han Ning’s Strange Actions, Ye Tianlong’s Lifelong Enemy

She was obviously looking forward to Gu Yifan’s arrival, but she just had to be stubborn and proud.

As expected of the tsundere Princess Ning!

’She’s so hopeless,’ Wu Xiaoyan thought, feeling a mix of exasperation and resignation.

But seeing her like this, Wu Xiaoyan decided not to say anything more.

However, their conversation happened to be overheard by He Ming, who had just sat down.

Without thinking, he blurted out, ”Hey, are you guys talking about Gu Yifan? I just ran into him in the lobby downstairs!”

”Oh?”

Hearing this, Han Ning’s heart leaped with joy and her eyes lit up, but she immediately suppressed the small thrill and said coolly, ”He Ming, you saw Gu Yifan? Then why isn’t he up here yet?”

”Oh, they’re not here for the reunion. They just happened to be coming here for dinner.”

He Ming replied casually, not thinking much of it.

Then he added, a little confused, ”Han School Beauty, you and Gu Yifan are so close. You didn’t know?”

Han Ning’s expression darkened the moment she heard him say that.

However!

He Ming wasn’t actually trying to mock her. It was just that everyone in the class knew the two of them had grown up together and were very close.

Of course!

That was all before Gu Yifan had confessed his feelings to her!

No one could have imagined that in just three short months, they would become like strangers to each other!

Suddenly, Wu Xiaoyan, who was beside her, spotted the key detail. She asked, puzzled, ”Wait, He Ming, you just said ’they’? Was there someone else with Gu Yifan?”

”Yeah, that guy Wang Zibo was with Gu Yifan too.”

”Oh, right! And Su Qinghe, the commoner school beauty from Class Five, was there too.”

He Ming blurted out without a second thought.

”Su Qinghe...”

Upon hearing that name, Wu Xiaoyan instinctively glanced over at Han Ning and saw that her best friend’s expression had indeed darkened several shades more.

For a moment, the atmosphere grew a little strange.

Seeing this, He Ming also sensed that something was off.

’Could it be... that Gu Yifan and Su Qinghe are really dating?’

He suddenly recalled the rumors that had circulated around school before the college entrance exams—about a love triangle between Gu Yifan, Su Qinghe, and Han Ning. Thinking of this, he couldn’t help but shoot another glance at Han Ning.

However!

He found it a bit strange.

’Why is Han Ning looking so grim?’

’Didn’t Gu Yifan confess to her, only to be mercilessly rejected on the spot?’

’Even if he really is with Su Qinghe now, Han Ning has no reason to be upset, right?’

’Is it one of those things where you don’t want something, but you don’t want anyone else to have it either?’

’Girls are so weird!’

At this thought, He Ming’s opinion of Han Ning dropped a few notches.

If Han Ning had been a perfect 100 in his mind before, she was probably down to a 90 now—and those 90 points were purely for her looks!

Of course!

’It’s also possible I’m overthinking it. After all, I’m not involved. Only they know what really happened between them.’

’But it doesn’t matter anyway!’

’Whatever!’

’I’m just an ordinary, broke loser. School beauties and goddesses are completely out of my league!’

’The only connection I’ll ever have with school beauties and goddesses is probably in the ”domestic” section of certain websites!’

Thinking this, He Ming immediately felt at ease.

He Ming shook his head. Just as he was getting up to pour himself a drink, Han Ning suddenly spoke. ”He Ming, can you take me to him?”

”Huh?”

He Ming’s hand froze mid-action.

Seeing Han Ning staring intently at him, he asked uncertainly, ”To Gu Yifan?”

”Yes!”

Han Ning nodded, her face impassive.

”Uh...”

He Ming was taken aback for a moment, then said, ”Um, I don’t actually know where they are now. I just ran into them in the lobby. I told them our room number, though. No idea if they’ll come over.”

”Oh, I see.”

A flicker of disappointment crossed Han Ning’s eyes, but she didn’t press He Ming.

After a moment’s thought, she turned to her best friend, Wu Xiaoyan, and said, ”Xiaoyan, I’m going to the restroom.”

With that, she got up and headed for the door.

Wu Xiaoyan froze for a second, then, as if realizing something, quickly got up and followed her.

”Hey, Xiaoning’er, wait for me! I’ll go too!”

she called out as she hurried after her.

Her voice was so loud that for a moment, everyone in the boisterous private room turned to look their way.

Seeing everyone’s questioning gazes, He Ming frowned slightly and shrugged, indicating that he didn’t know what was going on either.

At that, the others were only briefly puzzled and didn’t think much of it.

The room quickly returned to its lively chatter.

Just then, the class president, Ye Tianlong, walked over and sat down next to He Ming.

He leaned close to He Ming’s ear and whispered, ”What did you just say to Han Ning?”

He Ming paused, turning to Ye Tianlong with a frown. ”Nothing much!”

”Really?”

”I got the feeling she was a little off,”

Ye Tianlong said, sounding puzzled.

”Oh, probably because of Gu Yifan. I don’t know the details,”

He Ming replied casually.

”Gu Yifan?”

Hearing the name, Ye Tianlong couldn’t help but frown.

Ye Tianlong had always seen that guy Gu Yifan as a major rival!

He was a tiny bit more handsome (in his own opinion), and he was the childhood friend of the Han School Beauty, always sticking to her. Back then, he’d always thought that guy Gu Yifan was so damn lucky!

But after Gu Yifan suddenly lost his mind, confessed to Han Ning in front of the whole school, got mercilessly rejected, and then tried to kill himself by jumping off a building, Ye Tianlong decided he was a lost cause.

Ye Tianlong was a traditional chauvinist who believed women should be accessories to the strong!

Although he himself admired Han School Beauty, he was disgusted that a grown man like Gu Yifan would try to take his own life over a woman!

He felt Gu Yifan was no longer worthy of being his rival!

Besides, when it came to academics, he was leagues ahead of Gu Yifan!

Previously, the only boy in their class whose grades could even come close to his was Li Minghao, the Chinese representative and academic committee member.

So he had stopped paying any attention to Gu Yifan, planning to wait until after the college entrance exams to win Han School Beauty’s affection right in front of him. That would show Gu Yifan what a real man was, someone who could achieve a double victory in both love and academics!

But then!

Before the city-wide mock exams leading up to the main event, that damn Gu Yifan, lord knows what brand of Viagra he was on, had suddenly and inexplicably shot up out of nowhere!

And it wasn’t just once!

It was three times!

Gu Yifan got a perfect score on all three city-wide mock exams in a row!

Forget just himself—Gu Yifan was wiping the floor with every senior in the entire city!

This forced Ye Tianlong to start taking Gu Yifan seriously again!

He had even, from god-knows-where, found a photo of Gu Yifan, made it into a large poster, and stuck it on his bedroom wall.

From that day forward, Ye Tianlong saw him as his lifelong archenemy!
