Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 246: Chapter 245: Orochi Was Nearly Driven Mad by Oden

”How much money have you taken from them, you even had to chip in with your own money, yet what are the results? Last time as well, even a slight mistake would bring a whole group of people knocking at your door!”

She flung her arm, retracting the chains, which were her usual weapon. Regardless of gender, being able to fight was essential for the rogues in Wano Kuni who wanted to make a name for themselves.

In this aspect, men had a natural advantage, so most of the rogues were male. Currently, only Ringo and her all-female gang stood out.

Musashi played a significant role here, with her iron chain proving very useful.

However, she recently found herself unemployed. Though labeled as rogues, they had their own professions, with these rogue girls undertaking the role of cemetery guardians at the Northern Cemetery.

But some time ago, the Northern Cemetery encountered a rare group of tomb raiders. Although most burial items remained, many corpses were missing, including the Sword God Ryuma’s body and the Black Blade Shusui, regarded as national treasures by Wano Kuni.

This severely damaged their reputation, nearly putting them out of work, leading to the group’s disbandment. Some returned home, while others joined Kojiro’s business association.

Some even ran to the brothel, but not to sell themselves; instead, they used their rather strong bodies to work as security.

”Are you going to be a rogue like me? You can’t continue on like this, can you?”

”Who knew Ringo would have tomb raiders... and within just half an hour, they swept through a large part of the cemetery, like it was haunted.

Still, you should stop worrying about them, a bunch of people who don’t even know how to be grateful.

You’re not young anymore, wouldn’t it be better to enjoy a peaceful retirement?”

”How can I rest easy knowing you’re not even able to feed yourself if I don’t manage this place? Do you have any plans for the future?”

”Following your idea, I might as well become a doctor.” This was what Miyamoto had always hoped for, though Musashi previously had no interest in it.

”Alright then, start learning from me.”

”No, you’re being too bullied here. A new hospital opened in Hakumai, and their nursing school is recruiting. I plan to go there, and you should come with me. I hear they’re also looking for experienced doctors.

It’s the one that saved the old man from their family earlier; you might as well come with me.”

Eventually, under Musashi’s persuasion, Miyamoto changed her mind, packed up, and headed to the hospital built by the Hundred Beasts. As a somewhat experienced doctor, she was now the most sought-after person there, needing only simple training to start working.

Meanwhile, Musashi too was touched; Chansey’s form had just hit her heart’s soft spot.

After that day, a steady stream of Wano Kuni residents came to the Hundred Beasts Pokemon Center. Affordable and efficient, it drew many people who wanted to give it a try.

Compared to the unstructured medical environment within Wano Kuni, the doctors gathered from different islands offered much more effective treatment, far superior to those so-called folk remedies.

The biggest impact of the Hundred Beasts Pokemon Center wasn’t on Wano Kuni’s ordinary people, but on Kozuki Oden.

Aside from dancing in the Flower Capital, he hardly left Kuri, only occasionally appearing in Hakumai, where Shimotsuki Yasuie’s residence was located.

He couldn’t say he contributed nothing to the residents of Kuri; for instance, he restored order there by settling the chaos, but seeing the flow of people in and out of the Hundred Beasts Pokemon Center led him to deep self-doubt.

Some even came from other villages just to seek treatment here. Though not yet many, the doctors inside had already started working normally, making the once leisurely days vanish.

In Kuri, he could see the high-yield orchards, the smiles of herdsmen and farmers, and Hakumai’s hospital freeing many from the throes of illness.

”If the Hundred Beasts were in charge...wouldn’t things be much better than how I manage them?” He wasn’t cut out for this; being a Daimyo or General was not his goal.

If not for seeing too much on his voyage with Roger and learning some secrets, he might have gone back to Whitebeard’s ship to continue being a pirate. After all, he had promised Whitebeard to return to the Moby Dick a year later.

With this doubt, he went to Shimotsuki Yasuie’s house. As someone privy to the secret, Shimotsuki Yasuie was baffled to see Kozuki Oden’s arrival.

”Lord Oden, why have you come?”

”Yasuie, do you think I’m a failure?” Kozuki Oden, drinking heavily at Yasuie’s place, was questioning his life. If it were up to him, he wasn’t sure he could achieve even this.

He could also open a hospital, but those medical devices, doctors, and those strange creatures were beyond him.

”Yasuie... hiccup~ do you think... Kaido is better suited for the General’s position than I am?”

”What nonsense are you talking about! You’re dancing to deceive Kaido, not to doubt yourself!”

Upon hearing Kozuki Oden’s words, Shimotsuki Yasuie’s eyes widened. He had been secretly gathering strength, but before the plan could begin, the commander was already wavering.

”You are the heir of the Kozuki Family, the rightful successor to the position of General. No matter what, that position should be yours! If you think those things are beneficial, you can keep them after driving Kaido out!”

However, Shimotsuki Yasuie was not eloquent. He felt unable to persuade Kozuki Oden and dispatched a confidant to the Flower Capital accordingly.

He despised Kurozumi Orochi, but he had to admit that in terms of rhetoric, Kurozumi Orochi was far superior to him. ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

Thus, he began drinking with Kozuki Oden. Sending the message to the Flower Capital and returning would take some time; Kurozumi Orochi would not arrive for a while.

After receiving Shimotsuki Yasuie’s message, another restless soul emerged in the Flower Capital.

”Fool, fool, Kozuki Oden, that fool!!!” Kurozumi Orochi’s desk suffered misfortune. To Orochi, Kozuki Oden’s thought process was incomprehensible.

Like Shimotsuki Yasuie thought, he had Oden dance to confuse Kaido, but instead, Oden danced himself into delusion.

Kurozumi Orochi roughly imagined the consequences if Kozuki Oden genuinely did that; he didn’t know if Kaido would exterminate the Kozuki family, but he was sure Kaido would grind him into dust.

”Sure enough, there is no innocent among the Kozuki Family. Oden, you’d better watch out. After you and Kaido injure each other to exhaustion, I’ll definitely kill you!”

But for now, he could only indulge in some verbal satisfaction. Given his understanding of Kozuki Oden, if he didn’t persuade him properly, that fool might really do such a thing.
