Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 238: Chapter 237: To Be or Not to Be

In the distance, the silhouette of a giant was running towards them. It was Saul, who had accidentally drifted here after being chased by the Navy. First Olvia, then Robin—Saul had a very special bond with this mother and daughter.

”Enough with the hesitation, Olvia! The Buster Call has started, take Robin and escape now!”

”Saul? What are you doing here?”

”It’s a long story, and now’s not the time. If you don’t leave now, it’ll be too late!”

”Actually, it’s already too late for you to leave. The Navy has surrounded this place.”

A completely unfamiliar voice reached their ears. Clover looked at the blonde girl with confusion; he hadn’t seen her on the island before.

By now, any civilians should have boarded the evacuation ships, and none of the scholars’ children matched this person.

Robin didn’t recognize her either, but Saul did and quickly shielded Robin and Olvia behind him.

”Watch out! She’s an extremely vicious pirate!”

”Pirate? Her?”

”Ah, don’t underestimate her... She destroyed an entire island in the New World. Bounty of 480 million Belly, Phantom Disaster Olga of the Hundred Beasts Pirate Gang....”

As a Vice Admiral from the Navy Headquarters, he was familiar with those in the New World with bounties over a hundred million. Members of a Great Pirate Gang were even more notorious.

Although their bounties often received additional increments due to their captain’s reputation, their own strength far surpassed ordinary pirates.

To Saul, Olga was an extremely dangerous pirate.

”Her... 480 million?”

Olvia found it hard to believe that amount. After all, Olga looked just thirteen or fourteen years old.

And not long ago, they met on another island. Olvia thought she was just a bounty hunter, not a pirate with such a high bounty.

”Don’t slander me, that island was destroyed during a battle between other pirate crews; I just happened to benefit in the end...”

She didn’t want to explain further. She had grievances with the Navy’s intelligence department, but Saul didn’t seem to care about that.

”Why are you here?”

”Just carrying out orders. Our channels learned about the Buster Call, and that lord wishes to prevent Ohara from being destroyed. That’s why I’ve come to save you.”

With the Buster Call starting, after Spandine fled, Arceus ordered Olga to bring the people back to the Tree of Omniscience. Since they were all here, she might as well take everyone with her, which was the purpose of her visit.

Either go with him, or die in Ohara—there was no third option. These scholars were already on the World Government’s blacklist. If any were discovered, there would be a chain reaction leading to huge trouble.

Saul happened to run over from a distance, so he too was included in the scope of people to bring, given he was from the Giant Race.

”Let me remind you, among the Vice Admirals leading the troops are Kuzan and Sakazuki. You should know whether you can escape from them. The Tree of Omniscience is your only chance for survival. If you don’t want to die, come quickly.”

”Olvia... you should take Robin and go with her, okay?”

”What?”

”She’s right. I know Kuzan very well. That guy is different from ordinary Vice Admirals; he’s a real monster. And with Sakazuki as well... I’m afraid only this pirate can save you.”

”Alright, big guy, you’re coming too if you don’t trust them. You know too much, and we can’t let you leave. Plus, these scholars need you.”

To use gentle methods instead of excessive violence was Arceus’s request. However, if Saul didn’t cooperate, she had other ways to deal with it.

In response to Robin’s words, Saul ultimately followed them to the Tree of Omniscience.

”If you have any ill intentions, I won’t let you off. Don’t underestimate me—I’m a Vice Admiral from Headquarters.”

”A former Vice Admiral. Your wanted poster spread across the Four Seas a few days ago.”

”....”

...

Within the Tree of Omniscience, the sound of artillery roared outside, and the trunk was already ablaze. But when those scholars rushed inside, they found it unscathed, with a group of strangers organizing the books.

They didn’t even question who these people were but instead joined the group in organizing the books.

When Saul bent over and squeezed through the door, this was the scene he saw.

”Lord Arceus, all the scholars and that giant are now here.”

”Very good. You don’t need to stop your work, but your next choice will decide your fate! As you can see, the World Government’s Buster Call has locked onto this place. You, and the information here, are what they seek to destroy.

Without us, no one can save you, and we are pirates!”

The calm tone, amplified by his strength, resonated throughout the entire Tree of Omniscience, reaching the ears of all historians.

”We won’t interfere with your exploration of history, but we need all the information you uncover. Those willing can leave with us.

As for those unwilling, apologies, but we don’t want to draw the World Government’s attention just yet. A painless death is the only thing I can offer you.

Once the materials here are organized, we’ll leave immediately. Make your choice before that moment: survival or death.”

Although they continued organizing the books, many experienced an internal change. No one is unafraid of death, but some things are more important than life.

In the face of despair, they might risk their lives to save the materials, but with a glimmer of hope for survival, that resolute determination to die for the cause diminishes slightly.

They and the pirates now shared a commonality: they were both criminals in the eyes of the World Government, so many had already decided to leave with the Hundred Beasts.

”Sir, I have a question I’d like to ask you.”

Clover approached Arceus. Although he was curious why everyone was following Arceus’s orders, now was clearly not the time for questions.

Many here represented the legacy of history, and these young scholars were his hope. He didn’t want them to die here, but similarly, he didn’t want to incite chaos in the world.

He simply wished to explore history, not to overthrow the world.

Verbal promises might not be trustworthy, but they could at least convince some to follow.

”What?”

”Your purpose in taking away these materials and saving us scholars—are you seeking clues to the Ancient Weapons? Please tell us the answer.”

”I merely wish to learn some historical information. As for those so-called Ancient Weapons, you needn’t worry—I’m not interested in them.

Because those so-called Ancient Weapons, in my eyes, are nothing more than children’s toys. Their power is negligible compared to mine.”
