Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 217: Chapter 216: The Great Pirate Era Begins!

A seemingly ordinary Navy Base in the South Sea, the garrison inside was on high alert against the man before them. After all, he was the legendary Pirate King, a notorious criminal as reported by the World Government.

Although he was shackled, even a slight movement from him would make the guards nervous.

They didn’t know that this ordinary cell could never hold him; if he wished, he could leave at any moment.

”Don’t be so tense, young men, how about a little chat?”

Despite having guns pointed at him, Roger was utterly nonchalant, even joking with the guards.

These days had dragged on for some time, but today, with the arrival of a dog-headed warship, everyone at the South Sea Base finally breathed a sigh of relief.

”Vice Admiral Garp.”

”Vice Admiral Garp.”

”Oh, Garp, so you’ve come, as expected?”

Garp’s arrival seemed to be within Roger’s expectations, as he was the Navy who had pursued him for decades.

”Roger... you bastard....”

Although Garp always wanted to capture Roger, Roger’s surrender was far beyond his expectations.

And so, a year after Roger became the Pirate King, another event that shook The Sea occurred: Pirate King Gol D. Roger was captured. Of course, the newspapers continued to use Roger’s pseudonym and reported his surrender as a capture.

Following a World Government meeting, to intimidate the increasing number of pirates on the sea, they decided to execute him in the East Sea, Roger’s hometown, with the final location being Log Town.

The News Bird dispatched the story of Roger’s imminent execution to all parts of the world, prompting countless young people to set sail for Log Town, all eager to see what the Pirate King looked like.

Most of Roger’s crew also saw this news and understood that their captain had ultimately chosen that path.

Many pirates sighed deeply in response, while some laughed heartily, for Roger had made many enemies on The Sea.

However, there were exceptions among the enemies. At the Golden Lion’s base, the Golden Lion furiously knocked away things in front of him.

”Impossible! He’s the man who defeated me, how could he be captured by the Navy!”

Saying this, ignoring his subordinates’ attempts to stop him, he set off alone for the Navy Headquarters.

.....

Navy Headquarters - Marinfanto

The rain was pouring from the sky as the Golden Lion floated alone outside the Navy Headquarters. In his hands, giant warships seemed like toys, and below his feet, the bodies of Navy soldiers had piled up into a small mountain.

”Hand over Roger! How could you incompetents possibly capture Roger!”

”Roger has already been captured; he will be executed in the peaceful East Sea,” Sengoku said, loosening his tie, his skin gradually turning golden, suppressing his fury.

”The weakest East Sea? You’re insulting him! If you want to kill him, then hand him over. Only I have the right to kill him!”

The battle among Sengoku, Garp, and the Golden Lion lasted for a long time. It destroyed about half the towns near Marinfanto before the two finally subdued the enraged Golden Lion and imprisoned him in the Undersea Prison Impel Down.

.....

On Ghost Island, Asie was directing several pirates.

”A bit higher! A bit to the left! No, too far, move back a little! There, that’s it, hold it steady!” Several pirates fixed the antenna in nearly the right spot.

This is a signal amplifier intended to receive the broadcast signal from Log Town. To intimidate other pirates, it’s a live broadcast that will cover the world. However, the signal in Wano Kuni isn’t good, so an extra antenna was necessary.

Roger’s execution could be considered a monumental event in The Sea, but recently there have been many issues in Wano Kuni, and reaching the East Sea from here is unrealistic, especially since no Great Pirate intends to venture to Log Town.

Though unsaid, to prevent unexpected incidents, Log Town’s defense must undoubtedly be impenetrable, and watching the broadcast is the best option.

...

Time moved to October, and on the first day of October, Roger’s execution day arrived.

Roger’s steps became somewhat heavy, not from shackles or any torture but because his illness had gradually reached its limit.

As he ascended the execution platform, the weather turned gloomy, and rain began to fall from the sky.

Among the crowd watching below the execution platform were future prominent figures.

Dracule Mihawk

Donquixote Doflamingo

Crocodile

Moonlight Moriah

Monkey D. Dragon

Shanks, Buggy, Smoker, and countless others who would be swept away by the tide of the era gathered here, and on Ghost Island, Arceus was also watching the broadcast.

”What’s this? Are you interested in Roger?”

”No, not interest, just witnessing the dawn of an era.”

”An era? You sound like those prophetic folks, speaking so mysteriously.” Kaidou found Arceus’s words increasingly incomprehensible, given that he had been waiting there ever since the time came, even bringing youngsters like Yamato along.

The executioner had raised the long knife, and the classic query echoed through the image transmission radio snail.

”Hey, Pirate King, where have you hidden all your treasures?”

”Want my treasure? If you want it, I’ll let you have it. Go look for it! I left everything in one place, at the end of the Grand Line, Laugh Tale!”

In attempting to quash the tumultuous sea, the World Government never anticipated Roger’s final words would be this.

The long knife fell, marking the end of Gol D. Roger’s life, and at that moment, the downpour came. In front of the square, some wept loudly, while others laughed out loud.

The same day, pirate ships began setting sail all over the world, and countless individuals rushed into the Grand Line, targeting the Grand Treasure Roger mentioned, beginning their journeys.

The Great Pirate Era had arrived!

”Wugorogoro, is this what you wanted to witness? Quite a final statement, a refreshing death, The Sea will be thrown into chaos now.

Queen! Tell everyone on the other islands to stay alert, those reckless folks are coming again.”

Not just Kaidou, but pirates with territories in the New World almost all realized what the future would be like.

In the Tottland Sea Region, Perospero tripled the personnel escorting fruits, as he couldn’t bear another headstrong fool.

On the Moby Dick, Whitebeard also dispatched his captains to protect the safety of their territory.

Meanwhile, the World Government didn’t rest. They began hunting people associated with Roger, although oddly, instead of focusing on fighters, they intensified their investigation of pregnant women...
