Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 228: Chapter 227: Bombardier Beetle and Illusory Calamity

The battle wasn’t fair; Queen used three days of harassment to gauge his approximate strength, and when King and Zeraora arrived, it was not only a sneak attack but also a group fight.

But no one thought there was anything unreasonable about this; having more people is an advantage in battle. Since the Hundred Beasts Pirates could gather three officers, they had no reason to waste this advantage.

”Tankyuu Enou!”

”Savage Volt!”

Whether it was King’s flames or Zeraora’s lightning, these attacks all contained high temperatures, which were the biggest weakness of the Shroom-Shroom Fruit. The sunny effect released by King was still in effect, so Queen’s second Solar Beam followed suit.

As Queen said, Barolome’s body techniques were terrible. He did not expect Queen’s move, which always required charging, to be released continuously, nor did he anticipate King and Zeraora’s attack speed to be so fast.

The battle ended quickly; it was not a three-day and three-night epic. If it were one-on-one, Barolome could have fought both King and Zeraora for a while, but he was in a 1v3.

Even though Queen didn’t engage in close combat, his most powerful Solar Beam still hit Barolome squarely in the chest.

At that moment, his body released a large number of spores, but under the high temperature of the Solar Beam, they were incinerated instantly. Although they didn’t penetrate his body, they left significant charred marks.

Zeraora and King also inflicted fatal injuries on his body, and as they landed, Barolome’s body collapsed to the ground.

With Barolome’s death, new toxic spores stopped forming, and the existing ones gradually disappeared under King’s flames.

This is the difference between ability users; items created by their abilities do not disappear even if the user dies but continue to exist.

King threw a fireball into the sky, signaling the success of the operation. The next moment, a small boat began docking; it carried a special team equipped with flamethrowers and chemical protective suits to clear the toxic gas on the island.

”Muhahaha, my plan was indeed perfect.”

”You worthless fool, you wasted a whole three days and still have the face to say that?” Although their coordination during the battle was good, they started quarreling right after it ended.

”Enough, stop arguing. Once we finish clearing this island, we can go back. This was the final target.”

Although Zeraora was shorter than King and Queen, his words carried weight. Just as they planned to split up and take care of the remaining pirates on the island, there was a ”bang” sound beside them.

King drew his sword and swung it to the side but still got hit in the face by a bunch of stuff.

”Hey, are you okay?”

”I’m fine, but also not fine....”

The attack didn’t really affect King, but his mask was damaged by something unknown, causing his white hair to fall out and his face to be exposed once more.

Then King entered his Human-Beast Form, with the head of an Aerodactyl replacing his human face, eyes filled with killing intent. Queen already knew his identity, and Zeraora, a creature created by Arceus, seeing it didn’t matter.

Anyone else who saw his face had to die. Using Observation Haki, King quickly located where the enemy was.

”Flame Dragon Emperor!”

A fire dragon flew from his sword, opening its mouth to bite down on a tree branch nearby, knocking down a peculiar person who looked like an insect humanoid.

Looking at the still-smoking insect’s rear, King seemed to understand where the attack had just come from.

”Die.”

Given his recent attack method and ruining his mask, King had no reason to spare him.

However, the enemy was quick enough to dodge King’s swinging blade and even lifted his rear. A burst of high-temperature corrosive gas was sprayed out, the same substance that had damaged King’s mask previously.

”This guy is... a Bug-Bug Fruit, Cannon Beetle Form?”

Observing the opponent’s bizarre attack posture, Queen made some deductions. Zoan fruit types are the easiest to identify if you have enough knowledge; just by looking at their form, you can guess what fruit they are.

”Cannon Beetle?”

”It’s a type of beetle; its rear is where its venom glands are, capable of spraying high-temperature venom that vaporizes upon contact with air.” Queen wasn’t worried King wouldn’t defeat him; he even had the patience to explain to Zeraora.

Venom is basically useless against Lunarians. If it’s an ordinary Zoan, Bug-Bug Fruit is arguably among the strongest.

Insect enhancements are much stronger than beast enhancements, but the gap becomes apparent when they face Mythical Zoan types.

This Cannon Beetle user was Barolome’s deputy, not a match for King, who simply relied on insect power to hold on a bit longer.

Under usual circumstances, King might be interested in capturing him for Kaidou. Kaidou might have an interest in Bug-Bug Fruit users, but since he saw his face, there was no chance of survival.

After taking him out, King pulled another mask from his pocket. Such an important item, he would definitely carry a spare with him for emergencies. He couldn’t possibly kill everyone he met along the way.

With these two dealt with, the island entered the cleanup phase, although, due to the Shroom-Shroom Fruit, the progress was relatively slow.

...

Meanwhile, in Wano Kuni, although King and his team were not back yet, the wanted posters had already arrived.

[Flame Disaster-King, Bounty 600 million Belly]

[Plague Disaster-Queen, Bounty 570 million Belly]

[Thunderclap-Zeraora, Bounty 550 million Belly]

Another updated poster belonged to Olga. This expedition had earned her a name of her own, no longer referred to as an intern.

[Illusory Calamity-Olga, Bounty 480 million Belly]

This was the reputation she had made during this time. Most of her enemies died in false illusions, especially in large-scale battles, where her ability manipulated them into killing each other, ultimately dying in internal strife.

However, she concealed her surname Miskina, which wasn’t exposed.

”Huhuhuhu, that little girl has grown up. I still remember when she first tried to kidnap me. Thinking about it now, she really had some courage.”

”Courage? Back then, she did it just because she didn’t know anything. If she knew your reputation at that time, she’d probably hide far away.”

”Probably, but at this point, the Three Disasters’ names have also been established, and with the third Disaster now appearing, shouldn’t we start planning a celebration?”
