Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 230: Chapter 229: Audino and Comfey

There was also a celebration happening, but the fireworks over Ghost Island were far more splendid than those in Wano Kuni. This was because most of the fireworks craftsmen were attracted by the higher profits offered on Ghost Island, making exclusive fireworks for them.

Due to hundreds of years of isolation, the craft of making fireworks became a passed-down skill. When a large number of fireworks craftsmen were drawn to Ghost Island, naturally, there were far fewer left on the mainland of Wano Kuni.

Although the festival was the most important in Wano Kuni, it lost to Ghost Island in terms of liveliness.

Days of revelry left many pirates drunk as skunks, and a new plan was brought up.

Apart from new territories and the deceased, the returning crew had many wounded. Although the Hundred Beasts Pirates had top talent in both Western and traditional medicine, they lacked a systematic medical institution.

Plus, the Hundred Beasts Pirates had been developing in Wano Kuni for some time, and a large number of Pokemon had appeared internally. They were not Arceus; Pokemon themselves could get sick too.

Therefore, a comprehensive hospital emerged in the Hakumai Region, and there was a reason for not building it on Ghost Island.

Ghost Island was Kaidou’s territory, and currently, no one dared to cause trouble here, so the probability of incidents occurring on Ghost Island was extremely low.

A large number of Pokemon lived on the mainland of Wano Kuni, and the only safe entry point was in Hakumai. If outsiders were injured, they would first arrive there.

Moreover, the hospital itself also served a purpose in winning people’s hearts. There were top doctors on Ghost Island, but there was a lack of management, while Wano Kuni lacked doctors.

Under isolation, anything that needed learning was considered secretive. The General and Daimyo had ample medical resources, but ordinary people did not.

The medical fees of those renowned medical families were very high. They served mainly the nobility and rarely cared for common people, who could not afford their fees.

Ah Tsuru’s tea stall undertook some civilian medical responsibilities. She couldn’t be called a professional doctor, merely knowing some herbal knowledge.

However, some ailments couldn’t be solved with herbs, such as surgeries, which were science fiction in today’s Wano Kuni.

So ordinary people couldn’t afford to get sick. If they contracted a serious illness and the doctor they found was incompetent, death was common, not to mention some swindlers posing as itinerant doctors.

Even though Wano Kuni was isolated, its population exceeded millions. The connections among the six villages weren’t particularly tight, and swindlers were not uncommon.

At such times, the emergence of a medical institution was enough to change the living conditions of most people. However, it wasn’t free since free medical care was for internal members of the Hundred Beasts Pirates. It could also add an internal benefit for Kojiro’s guild.

But for ordinary citizens, charges were inevitable as affordable prices were already at the limit.

”Hmm... Lord Arceus, Kojiro has already found a place in Hakumai, but we don’t have enough manpower. Although we’ve drawn dozens of people from other territories, it’s still not enough to maintain the hospital’s operation.

Both Nightin and I have our own affairs and cannot be responsible for that hospital.”

The best surgeon on Ghost Island was still Queen, who was reporting on the hospital’s progress.

Doctors were always a scarce resource at sea. Both pirates and the Navy couldn’t avoid life-and-death combat. Even without wars, there would be various medical challenges. Excellent doctors were like a second life.

In the territory of the Hundred Beasts, doctors were naturally present, but they all needed to handle local medical affairs. Some didn’t like to work elsewhere, so only a few dozen people were transferred.

”For nurses and such, let Kojiro recruit locally from Wano Kuni. Additionally, gather some local doctors from various villages and slowly teach them. With these few dozen people as leaders, it should be about enough.”

Considering the situation in Wano Kuni, local barefoot doctors were enough to cope after some training.

”There’s another problem, Lord Sacred Beast. No one understands why the Pokemon you created get sick or how to treat them?”

Even veterinarians didn’t understand the reasons for Pokemon ailments, so currently, Pokemon illness problems could only be handled by Arceus.

It was unlikely to popularize Pokemon knowledge in a short time, so Arceus opted for another method.

”Don’t worry about this; they naturally have their doctors, and they can even help the doctors with their work.”

”Chaboo~”

”Nayaa~”

”Lucky~”

”These are the doctors’ future partners. Let those doctors get acquainted with them. Pokemon issues can be entrusted to them, and humans, of course, as well.”

Arceus had long prepared for such issues, introducing twenty of each kind, with sixty new Pokemon emerging from behind him.

”This is... Chansey beside Miss Yamato?”

Shaina recognized the Chansey, but besides it, there were many new Pokemon.

”They’re naturally suitable as doctor assistants. These are Audinos.”

”Chaboo!”

Audino, a Normal-type Pokemon, replaced Chansey and Blissey in some areas, becoming new assistants at Pokemon Centers.

Compared to resembling an egg, their image was more three-dimensional, looking like strange Beastmen with white fluffy tails.

A mix of pink and beige in color, with sea-blue eyes, and ears with wavy curves on both sides of their heads.

Their long ears are the main tool for assisting humans in medical activities.

The ends of their ears have powerful perception, which is akin to radar for them. If desired, they can hear the sound of small stones rolling two kilometers away.

They use their ears as stethoscopes, understanding others’ physical conditions and emotions through heartbeats.

Inherently kind-hearted, they’re great partners for doctors.

”Those flying ones are Comfey. Although they can’t diagnose others’ ailments like Audinos, they have their advantages.”

”Nayaa~”

Comfey, a Fairy-type Pokemon.

Comfey’s main body isn’t large, resembling a flying fruit with a flowing hairstyle. Its primary color is pale green, but they appeared somewhat uneasy.

”Where are the flowers I asked you to prepare? Bring them over.”

”Yes, you there! Bring it in!”

Queen shouted to the outside, and a group of pirates carrying flower pots came in. Early that morning, they were ordered to pick flowers. They didn’t know why but followed orders anyway.

Now, they brought back a variety of wildflowers.

”Nayaa~ Nayaa.”

Comfey joyfully flew to the flower pots to pick flowers, and soon each Comfey had a floral ring in its hands. This was their nature.
