Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 229: Chapter 228: Smeargle and Tattoos

Charlotte Katakuri, Charlotte Cracker, ”Phoenix” Marco, ”Diamond” Jozu, the cadres of various Great Pirate Gangs have all gained fame during this period. Young people in their twenties have started to make their mark on the stage of The Sea.

Moreover, many of them made their names by stepping on the remnants of the Golden Lion. If you want to make a name for yourself on The Sea, the simplest and most effective method is to challenge an old-timer and take him down.

As long as you can defeat this opponent, a pirate can instantly transform from an unknown into someone world-renowned. But of course, you must be prepared to pay the price for challenging these veterans.

Crocodile and Moriah paid a huge price for this.

The Wanted Posters aren’t just limited to these, some Captains of the Affiliated Pirate Group, as well as small cadres like Elizabeth, Mandfeish, have also appeared on the posters. Judging by the photos, those photographers must have been quite busy lately.

Except for a few individuals whose photos look bad, most people’s photos were taken rather handsomely, some even making eye contact with the camera, giving this organization a more mysterious aura.

Kaidou plans to throw a banquet when the cadres return. Although the Hundred Beasts Pirate Gang suffered casualties in this operation, he’s not here to play house. The actions of the living won’t stop because of them.

Even though the comrades on a ship mourn, they won’t stay immersed in it.

Meanwhile, Yamato was looking at those Wanted Posters with a thoughtful expression.

”What’s up, is there something you’re interested in?”

”Foster father, look at these people’s tattoos...They look so cool.”

Tattoo culture is very popular among pirates. It’s already common practice to tattoo one’s pirate gang flag on their body. Many pirates featured on the Wanted Posters have such tattoos, like the huge design on Marco’s chest.

Even though they are Wanted Posters, those photographers somehow turned it into a talent show, sparking Yamato’s interest in those tattoos.

”You want to get a tattoo too?”

”Can I?”

”Where do you want to get it?”

”On the arm, I guess.”

”Alright, then let’s break your arm.”

Reality and what Yamato thought were vastly different. She seemed to hear something terrifying from Arceus, which didn’t align with common sense. Normally, something like that would only be said by Kaidou.

”Fos... Foster father, what did you just say.... I think I might have heard wrong.”

”You didn’t hear wrong. Girls shouldn’t get tattoos. Wherever you get it, I’ll break it.”

”But they all have tattoos; even father has his entire arm covered...”

”They are them, and you are you. You are not the same.”

”Oh...”

Yamato’s tattoo plans were declared bankrupt before even starting. However, seeing her disappointed look, Arceus came up with a compromise.

”Getting a tattoo is out of the question, but you can draw them on in the future.”

”But drawing them doesn’t look the same at all.”

”I didn’t mean for you to draw it, Smeargle.” As he spoke, a special dog appeared before Yamato.

This was a dog with an entirely white body, coffee-colored eye circles and ears, standing on two legs.

However, its tail was very long, almost taller than its body, and it was currently holding it in its hand; the tip of the tail was a paintbrush.

Note: This Smeargle is female.

This was the alternative tattoo artist Arceus prepared for Yamato. Smeargle uses a special liquid secreted from the tip of its tail as its painting medium.

The color of the paint changes with Smeargle’s mood, but it’s generally controllable. It has a hat-like body structure on its head, adding an artistic flair.

Wild Smeargle uses the paint on its tail to mark its territory. In addition to painting like humans, they also have unique marks of the Smeargle species, with over 5000 different shapes.

Because the paint is secreted from its tail, drawing on the body differs greatly from usual paint, as it’s waterproof and hard to fade, and Smeargle has its own way to erase it, so there’s no worry about future regrets.

”Decide on what you want and communicate with it, but if you dare go for a real one, my words still stand.”

With the Power of the Evergreen, Yamato had no trouble communicating with Pokemon, accurately conveying her intentions.

”Got it, foster father, but could you maybe ask dad to stop playing tennis?”

”About that, don’t worry. He’s had enough of tennis and plans to switch you to volleyball.”

The training that should be done will definitely not stop, and the current training isn’t even the toughest. According to Kaidou’s plan, the foundation of physique training has already been laid, and these times are just for basic training now.

In two years, when Haki training starts, getting hit will be unavoidable, as taking hits is an inevitable part of Haki training.

At least tennis and volleyball are still soft; it won’t necessarily be the case then.

...

”Phew, is that guy a mad dog? Chasing after us relentlessly as soon as we met.”

Meanwhile, with Olga, her ship was undergoing major repairs. The Navy crew she encountered was a bit over-matched for her, and since the Navy is the largest force at sea, their large warships are faster than the average pirate ship.

If Elizabeth hadn’t damaged their rudder underwater, Olga and her crew would’ve had a hard time escaping.

”Boss, that’s one of the newly risen monsters in the Navy these years, a guy named Sakazuki, I think.”

Sakazuki, Borsalino, Kuzan, these three have also been frequently featured in the newspapers lately. The Navy is using this method to reassure the member countries, proving its military strength.

”But it’s still the old lady’s ability that’s troublesome; boss’s illusions were all seen through.”

”Don’t underestimate her. That woman, along with Sengoku and Garp, led an era of the Navy. Who would’ve thought we’d run into those two? It’s thanks to boss’s ability that we got away.”

Queen was at most difficult to deal with, but Olga was truly unlucky, running into Tsuru, who was on a mission with Sakazuki.

”Whatever, let’s fix the ship and prepare to return to Wano Kuni. Just when things elsewhere have also wrapped up.”

At the end of 1499, Olga and King, along with others, returned to Wano Kuni. The remaining territories of the Golden Lion have been divided, settling the landscape of the New World for now, preventing large-scale conflicts in the short term.

Only some newcomers entering the New World may stir up some trouble.

In Wano Kuni, the return celebrations and the New Year festival coincided, adapting to local customs, as pirate groups wouldn’t miss such celebrations, making Ghost Island livelier than Wano Kuni itself.

Special cannons were transformed into ceremonial cannons, and numerous fireworks adorned the sky above Ghost Island...
