Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 244: Chapter 243: Leisurely Hospital Life

In the sky, many Thousand-Year Dragons were flying back and forth around the Sky Island, where they had lived for hundreds of years.

Ultimately, due to special reasons, they decided to move, and now they have a new home. However, upon seeing the Sky Island being towed back, they still chose to revisit this old place.

”The Sky Island you wanted has been towed back, but where do you plan to place it?”

”Just connect it with vines near Ghost Island; the size of this Sky Island shouldn’t make it drift around.”

”Then you need to reinforce it properly. Before it wasn’t necessary, but now it’s different. I had to blow up part of the Island Cloud to drag it out from the Sea Cloud, and now it should weigh a lot less.”

Although it can still float in the sky, the area of this Sky Island has significantly reduced compared to before. Kaidou adjusted the altitude of the Sky Island again, ultimately letting it float at about two thousand meters in the air.

Two massive vines rose from the ground, extending from the rocky walls at the outskirts of Wano Kuni and piercing through the Island Cloud in the sky, firmly fixing it near Wano Kuni.

The scholars from Ohara were also brought to Sky Island by the Thousand-Year Dragons. For a long time in the future, they would live with the Thousand-Year Dragons, as they were the only Flying Team of the Hundred Beasts Pirates that could stably supply resources to the Sky Island.

”Did you go on this trip just for these people?”

”These are top scholars in various historical fields, and without them, you’d have to rely on that guy, Kozuki Oden, to translate those ancient texts for you.”

”That’s true, but about the Giant Race...”

”Behind him is an entire Giant Country. He has a good relationship with that mother and daughter among the scholars, and he knows quite a bit too. So I left him on Sky Island as well. If you can establish contact with the Giant Country behind him, maybe you can form a Giant Soldier Unit.”

”The warriors of the Giant Race are truly impressive. At that time, Linlin would be awfully jealous, heh heh heh...”

Charlotte Linlin’s obsession with collecting and the grudge the Giant Race holds against her is an unbreakable cycle for now. The object of affection for that not-so-tasteful Prince of the Giant Race is still just a child.

The scholars didn’t raise too many objections to this semi-restricted living condition on Sky Island. Legally, they are presumed dead now, and they don’t have much choice.

Moreover, the area of this Sky Island is about half the size of Ohara. Most of them are homebodies who spent their days in the library researching documents and accepted this translation work under the Hundred Beasts’ promise of searching for ruins for them.

However, led by Clover, the scholars made one condition: they could stay on Sky Island indefinitely, but Robin cannot. At the very least, Robin should be able to leave Sky Island like an ordinary person.

Even though she’s just a child who can at most go to Wano Kuni and Ghost Island if she leaves Sky Island, they still wanted more ordinary people in Robin’s growth environment.

Saul and Olvia agreed with this sentiment as well. This request was granted, allowing Robin to leave Sky Island with the Thousand-Year Dragons in the morning, and return after dark.

Throughout the day, whether to learn history with the scholars or do something else was entirely up to them. If she wanted, she could also train with the Hundred Beasts Pirates, as Yamato considered her a friend, and Kaidou didn’t believe a little girl could significantly impact anything.

.....

The presence of the scholars didn’t cause a commotion; most people didn’t know about their addition, but Saul, the giant, attracted more curiosity.

Meanwhile, two new buildings appeared in the Hakumai Region of Wano Kuni. One was the already completed Hundred Beasts Pokemon Center, a five-story building that, by Wano Kuni’s standards, was quite tall, with a nearby residential area for medical staff.

The other was a newly established nursing school, recruiting locals from Wano Kuni for training to fill the staffing gaps in the hospital.

During this period, doctors and nurses who moved here from Outer Island became familiar with the Pokemons, whose assistance in medical tasks surpassed that of the average person.

Currently, the Pokemon Center is quite relaxed. Two nurses are playing Old Maid with an Audino, while there is a doctor studying how to massage a Chansey.

The center is now fully staffed with medical personnel and equipped with comprehensive medical equipment. Apart from patients, it has everything.

”This really is a good place. The salary has increased significantly, yet there’s barely anything to do.”

In the consultation room, two doctors were idly chatting about their families, mainly about changes since they arrived here.

Apart from a different living environment, almost nothing changed, though the exchange of information wasn’t as smooth as before. If they wanted to read newspapers, they’d have to wait until noon when members of the Hundred Beasts Pirates delivered some on their way.

Ordinary TVs here don’t receive signals, only the central hospital TV with Rotom can receive signals from outside the sea, and to watch TV everyone in the hospital must gather together.

”What can you do, there was once someone who came here for treatment. I was organizing a skeleton model then, and he was scared off immediately.”

”He was shocked, wasn’t he? People here are very... well...”

”You’re trying to say ignorant, aren’t you?”

”That doesn’t feel quite right. But the development here is certainly backward and somewhat distorted. They’ve even built factories, yet the public’s awareness hasn’t caught up.”

”I’ve heard that the factories were only built here after the Hundred Beasts arrived. But this is nice as well, after working for so many years, taking it easy isn’t bad.”

They moved here attracted by high salaries, and even though there are no patients, the hospital continues to operate as usual. Occasionally, there are injured members of the Hundred Beasts Pirates, but most of the time they are just loafing about.

In a way, it is a dream job scenario.

”I’d advise you not to say things like that; there’s an old saying where I come from. Not sure if you’ve heard it.”

”What is it?”

”Never say you’re idle in a hospital, or you’ll soon be busy.”

”Never heard of it. What island’s rumor is that?”

Before the words fully left his mouth, the indicator light in their office turned on, accompanied by an alarm sound, signaling a patient needing their attention.

They were the emergency department, and such alarms were never a good sign.

”See what I told you...”

”Really...it’s true...Nevermind, let’s go save someone!”

The two hurriedly ran out of their office towards the emergency room. It was the first time since the hospital’s establishment that they’d encountered such a situation.

In the hospital lobby, an elderly farmer-like man was just transferred onto a stretcher by Chanseys. Despite their relatively small stature, they had strength far superior to the average human.

The adjustable stretcher bed was incredibly stable in their hands, and the unconscious person was soon wheeled into the emergency room.
