Arceus's Pirate Journey

Chapter 206: Chapter 205: Assassination and ID Cards

The name contains ’Dragon’, it’s blue in color, can breathe fire, and swim, so if you round it up, you can boast about yourself like this.

”Alright, work hard.”

It’s not impossible for Mandfeish’s Magikarp to evolve; he can grant Mandfeish the Light of Evolution. Whether it evolves or not will depend on how well he trains himself.

He casually painted a picture for Mandfeish, saying that if he works hard enough, a Mega Gyarados isn’t out of reach. As for what Mega Gyarados is, he explained it to Mandfeish in a simple way: fruit awakening.

This pie in the sky is real, but whether he can reach it depends on his own efforts.

However, as far as Mandfeish is concerned, he has already envisioned his bright future and single-handedly started the intense life within the Hundred Beasts Pirate crew.

”Do you guys think... has Big Brother Mandfeish gone crazy?”

A few pirates stood on deck watching Mandfeish, who was currently using four mops to clean the deck. This was originally their job, but ever since that day, Mandfeish started grabbing all the chores on the ship.

The tasks he could do, he’d do them; the ones he couldn’t, he’d learn. It seemed like he was determined to outdo everyone else.

”I don’t know. Ever since he talked with the Sacred Beast, he’s been like this.”

”Do you think there’s some reward we’re not aware of?”

As soon as this was said, everyone’s expressions changed. There was always fierce competition within the Hundred Beasts Pirate crew. As a small boss, the fact that Mandfeish suddenly acted so strangely seemed suspicious to them.

Eventually, the rumors became more and more exaggerated, spreading throughout the entire Origin.

In February 1497, the Origin returned to Wano Kuni.

After the Origin was hoisted up from the Hidden Port, a group of people carrying cleaning tools boarded the ship.

Normally, when a ship nears Wano Kuni, the crew would take a break and put their work on hold.

The people at the Hidden Port would usually haul the ship to the dock for maintenance after cleaning it, but today, as soon as they boarded, they took a tumble.

”What’s wrong with you people! Why is the deck so slippery!”

Seeing the shiny deck, the people staying in Wano Kuni couldn’t understand what these guys went through while they were away.

.....

”Sacred Beast, welcome back. Was your journey smooth?”

”Very smooth. Make a note, we’ve gained a new territory in Paradise, located above Sky Island on Gaya Island. For more details, you can ask Mandfeish or Zeraora later. Has anything happened recently?”

Arceus asked Shaina about the recent situation. He had been away from Ghost Island for nearly four months and needed to know what had transpired in Wano Kuni.

”As for development, the factories, pastures, and farms are all running smoothly, and the cotton fields in the Himi Region are flourishing. Sacred Beast, I suggest that Wano Kuni should not be planting ordinary grains.

Our overseas territories are sufficient to meet the needs of Wano Kuni, and this also means we can control the grain route of Wano Kuni, while the revenue from those cottons as cash crops would be higher.

”We’ll discuss it later based on circumstances. What else?”

This suggestion is not bad. Given Wano Kuni’s situation, if the domestic lands are largely converted to cash crops, grain would need to be imported from outside.

But since Wano Kuni practices isolationism, it essentially puts them at the mercy of the Hundred Beasts, and any tightening could incite public dissatisfaction.

Wano Kuni only has so much land, but the Hundred Beasts have more than just this territory; other islands can still be their grain producers.

However, this requires a degree, and it needs to be tried gradually.

”Kojiro’s trading company has also begun expanding externally, and with the wild boar you tamed, the people of Wano Kuni have become more accepting.

One second prize was redeemed with his bottle cap exchange, and everything else is going well. No issues with the Hundred Beasts Fruit either.”

”Any bad news?”

All these years, Shaina had the habit of reporting the good news first and saving the troublesome issues for last, and he was used to it.

Regarding no troublesome issues, that’s impossible. Shaina herself didn’t notice, but whenever this moment came, she would subconsciously scratch her head. Whenever she scratched her head while reporting news, it meant some not-so-good things had happened.

”During the previous New Year’s festival, there was an assassination attempt. The target was the grandson of the former General, Kozuki Sukiyaki, Kozuki Momonosuke.

Although the assassination ultimately failed, Lady Toki was hit in the leg by an arrow.”

”Who did it?”

”It wasn’t clear. Some eyewitnesses claimed it was done by our people, but upon investigation, that person had a solid alibi, and it should have something to do with Kurozumi Orochi.”

”He’s really up to constant mischief.”

”We also released rumors that it was the work of Kurozumi Orochi, and quite a few people were willing to believe us. At least, the reputation of the Hundred Beasts is currently much better than that of Kurozumi Orochi.

However... after that assassination attempt, the public’s reaction was considerable, and the Kozuki Family’s influence over Wano Kuni is still very deep.”

Kurozumi Orochi was a minor issue; the Hundred Beasts Pirates kept him around to let him challenge the Kozuki Family head-on.

As Shaina mentioned later, the influence of the Kozuki Family on Wano Kuni is too great, making this the most troublesome issue.

However, the solution is not difficult. The bald eagles next door have already set a precedent, or rather, they’ve already done it themselves, and Wano Kuni might end up with a position for the ’General’s Official Banner’.”

”But Sacred Beast, this matter also led to some good developments. After the assassination during the festival, Hyogoro in the Flower Capital realized the great harm the current situation in Wano Kuni could cause.

So, he and Kojiro reached a consensus, and those gang members have become much more well-behaved.”

The assassin was among the group of gang members, making Hyogoro realize that if the issue of the gang wasn’t handled well, similar incidents might happen again.

Handling these matters properly would reduce the chances of assassination greatly, even if they still wanted to try.

By the order of rotation, now that Arceus has returned, Kaidou, who has been idle for almost four months, couldn’t wait to leave Wano Kuni. The reason for leaving is to search for the whereabouts of the Plate, but as for what he actually went to do, no one knows.

Wano Kuni entered another phase of development.

During this time, Arceus introduced something to the members of the Hundred Beasts Pirates in Wano Kuni: identification cards.

These weren’t difficult to produce, whether it was the equipment for review or the embedded chips, Queen and Asie had the method to make them.

This was mainly to prevent strange people from infiltrating, like during the Ghost Island battle when, aside from the original thirty thousand, five thousand enemy combatants mixed in. On average, one in seven was an undercover spy.

The key issue was, they only had to change their outfits to blend in.

So identity cards were provided to the Hundred Beasts people; this way, even if enemies could still infiltrate, they couldn’t infiltrate in such numbers.
