Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”What’s going on?” Ji Shuanglin saw that his wife was being all mysterious.

”Look here.” Meng Qingmei pointed to the box at the living room entrance, ”Did you see it?”

”A box, huh? What’s so special about it?” Ji Shuanglin was completely puzzled, like a monk trying to understand the situation.

”When have you ever seen Ji Chuan bring two boxes home? One of them isn’t Ji Chuan’s...” Meng Qingmei walked closer and was about to set the box down when suddenly she heard a woman’s soft sigh from inside the room.

”Did our son bring a woman home?” Ji Shuanglin’s sudden excitement made his head buzz with heat, ”No way. Your son actually brought a woman home without saying a word!”

”Shh...” Meng Qingmei quickly covered Ji Shuanglin’s mouth, ”Lower your voice! You’ll scare them! Let me listen and see what’s going on?”

”What are you listening for? Just knock on the door and let our son know we’re here.”

”No way. What if it’s awkward for them? I’ll just listen in and see the situation. If it’s something, we’ll just back off, pretend we don’t know anything, and wait to see how our son introduces her later.” Meng Qingmei thought it through thoroughly.

After all, there is a girl inside.

We should consider her dignity somewhat.

”Alright! Let’s do it your way.” Ji Shuanglin felt his wife’s reasoning made sense.

Yan Huan was woken up by thirst. She got up to pour herself a glass of water from the living room. As soon as she yanked the door open, she suddenly saw an elderly woman standing at the entrance.

The woman was bent over, and Yan Huan had no idea what she was doing there.

The two women locked eyes, both taken aback and simultaneously let out a shriek.

”Ah—”

Ji Chuan, who hadn’t finished his shower, suddenly heard the scream from the living room and thought something had happened to Yan Huan. He quickly wrapped a towel around his waist and rushed out.

”Yan Huan—!”

As he rushed out, it became a scene where four people and eight eyes met, and... it was just awkward.

”Ji Chuan! You’re home?” Ji Shuanglin looked at his son, who was bare-chested, barefoot, with a towel around his waist, water dripping from his hair, utterly stunned.

”Yeah!” Ji Chuan quickly wiped the water off his face and looked at his suddenly appeared parents, ”I was taking a shower in the bathroom. Didn’t you hear?”

The bathroom was far from the bedroom Yan Huan stayed in, and it had a wooden door, not a modern glass door, so you couldn’t hear anything once the door was closed.

”No, we didn’t.” Ji Shuanglin shook his head.

”You... you guys...” Meng Qingmei looked at Ji Chuan, who had just rushed out of the shower, then at Yan Huan, who had just gotten up in her pajamas, and a knowing smile appeared on her face, ”You two...”

Yan Huan’s face instantly turned red.

There was no mistaking it now; these two were Ji Chuan’s parents.

Her first time at Ji Chuan’s house ended up like this, meeting his parents in such a scenario.

What an embarrassment!

”Uncle, Aunt...” she called out softly, feeling a bit flustered, ”You’ve misunderstood.”

”It’s not what you’re thinking.” Ji Chuan saw Yan Huan’s embarrassment and quickly said to her, ”You go inside first, and come back out when you’ve changed.”

”Okay.” Yan Huan quickly turned and closed the door.

Meng Qingmei looked at her son and smiled slightly, amusement sparkling in her eyes. She grabbed Ji Chuan’s arm and led him aside, ”Come, tell mom, what’s going on between you two?”
