Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”You like him! But he doesn’t like you!” Shen Qiqi’s father was both heartbroken and angry, ”You’ve been so stubborn since you were a child!”

”No! He used to like me. Otherwise, why would he be so good to me? He played with me, fought with the boys who bullied me, carried me home when I was tired, and saved a portion of delicious food for me!” With every word Shen Qiqi said, she felt a stabbing pain in her heart, as if a knife was carving out her heart.

”He sees you as a younger sister!”

”I don’t want to be his sister! I want to be his bride!”

”Qiqi, why are you so stubborn? He has feelings for that Yan Huan, and they’re probably getting married soon! My dear, don’t be foolish, okay?”

”Married...” When Shen Qiqi heard that word, her mind went blank. Her hand shook, and the phone slipped from her grasp with a thud.

”Qiqi... Qiqi...”

Shen Qiqi’s father’s call continued, but she was deaf to it, sitting blankly on the floor, staring dazedly ahead.

Bang bang bang~

There was a knock on the door, followed by Cheng Yue’s voice: ”Qiqi, are you inside? Come out, your head is still bleeding, hurry out and treat your wound!”

A glimmer of light appeared in Shen Qiqi’s blank eyes: ”Cheng Yue, if you’re willing to marry me, I’ll come out and treat the wound!”

”Qiqi! Why are you so childish? Marriage requires mutual love! The person in my heart is Yan Huan, and although you’re very cute, I’ve always seen you as a sister! How could I fall in love with my own sister? Please, stop this nonsense, okay? You’re really putting me in a difficult position!” Cheng Yue shouted as he knocked on the door.

A difficult position!

Her love for Cheng Yue had actually become a burden to him!

If one day he got married, what would she do?

Would she really become a bitter woman, crying every day, watching him be happy?

Shen Qiqi felt she couldn’t bear it!

To avoid future pain, it would be better to end it now.

In a moment of despair, Shen Qiqi got up from the floor and opened the dormitory drawer, where she found a fruit knife.

The thin blade was cold and foreboding, chilling to the core just by looking at it.

Shen Qiqi placed the blade on her wrist, closed her eyes, and with a firm press, sharp pain followed as warm fluid surged out.

”Cheng Yue, goodbye!” she whispered to herself, released her grip, and the knife clattered loudly to the floor.

Cheng Yue heard a clattering sound from inside the room and suddenly felt a pang in his heart. He shouted loudly, ”Qiqi! What are you doing in there?”

”Qiqi! Speak to me!”

”Qiqi! Qiqi! Why aren’t you responding?”

Listening to Cheng Yue’s increasingly urgent calls, Shen Qiqi felt a wave of warmth in her heart.

Her Cheng Yue still cared about her!

The voice at her ears gradually drifted away, her consciousness began to blur, and Shen Qiqi felt her eyelids grow heavy and tired, until she couldn’t hear anything anymore.

............

The conversation between Yan Huan and Cheng Yue was halfway done when Cheng Yue ran off with Shen Qiqi.

She waited in place for a long time, but Cheng Yue never returned.

”Are you going to keep waiting?” Ji Chuan came over and asked.

”No. It seems he won’t be coming back,” Yan Huan said, frowning. Anyone would think Cheng Yue cares about Shen Qiqi.
