Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

On the way back from the hospital, Ji Chuan kept thinking about what kind of shock it must have been that left such a shadow on Yan Huan’s heart for so many years.

What exactly did she go through when she was kidnapped?

If he had the chance, he must figure it out and find the root cause.

............

Yan Huan lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep, as if something in her mind was about to break through.

Tonight Jason asked her many questions, and she answered them all very straightforwardly.

However, thinking back on those seemingly certain answers, she now felt somewhat uncertain about them.

There was always something swaying in her head, but she couldn’t remember what exactly was swaying.

Half-asleep, Yan Huan fell asleep.

This night, her dreams were chaotic once again.

Still, it was a hazy day, with the same somewhat familiar house, and a blood-red meandering river.

How terrifying!

When the sun rose, Yan Huan was awakened by a knock on the door. She opened her eyes with a heaviness in her chest and before she could speak, she was hit by a bout of heavy breathing.

”What’s wrong?” Feng Yuzhi rushed in, seeing Yan Huan gasping violently, she was shocked and quickly rummaged through Yan Huan’s room for the medicine.

”No need. No need...” Yan Huan clutched her chest, gasped for a bit, and gradually calmed down, ”Mom, you don’t need to worry, my illness in Nancheng is not a big problem. It’s not life-threatening!”

”What’s going on? I’m so worried! Didn’t Ji Chuan say he would help find a way to treat you? Is there any progress there?” Feng Yuzhi sat down and asked.

”Yes. I’m already receiving treatment.” Yan Huan didn’t want to say too much to her mother Feng Yuzhi. Being watched by her mother every day was very stressful, ”This isn’t something that can be solved overnight, so Mom, don’t worry. If there’s progress, I’ll let you know.”

”Oh.” Feng Yuzhi sighed deeply and took Yan Huan into her arms, ”Huanhuan, you’ve really suffered a lot! Having such an illness must be hard, right? Mom is really sorry! I couldn’t give you a healthy body, it’s all my fault!”

”Mom! Don’t be like this, okay?” Yan Huan felt sad seeing her mother cry, ”What does it have to do with you? It’s got nothing to do with you! Besides, Ji Chuan said my illness can definitely be cured! It’s not congenital, it’s something that happened later! Don’t be sad anymore!”

”Good child.” Feng Yuzhi knew Yan Huan was trying to comfort her, and she didn’t want her daughter to feel sad either, so she wiped away her tears and said, ”Alright. Let’s not talk about this anymore, why not take a leave these two days? Don’t go to the base, go to the hospital to see Ji Chuan.”

”Not go to the base? Why not?” Yan Huan said while changing clothes, ”Ji Chuan, like everyone, has work to do. He has patients that need his treatment too. I can’t keep bothering him at the hospital, right?”

”Ji Chuan called early this morning. He said for you to go. He’s on vacation these days and wants to spend more time with you during this time.”

In the past, Yan Huan would have refused without even thinking.

But today she agreed happily: ”Okay!”

Feng Yuzhi was surprised: ”Oh, why are you so agreeable today?”

Yan Huan rolled her eyes at her: ”Usually, when I’m not agreeable, you say something. Today I agreed happily, and you still say something. Can I speak or not?”
