Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”Cheng Yue?” Yan Huan took the envelope suspiciously and reached out to open the letter.

”He called you last night, but Aunt Feng scolded him. So, he left you a letter. From what he said, it seems like he’s going back to Jiangning,” An Hao said.

Upon seeing the letter, Yan Huan smiled slightly, her smile somewhat bitter: ”Yes. Shen Qiqi committed suicide! Because of this, Shen Qiqi won’t be coming back again.”

”And Cheng Yue? He’s not coming back either? Your relationship...” An Hao hadn’t been paying much attention to Yan Huan’s affairs lately. Between work and family issues, she was overwhelmed, constantly worried.

”I guess there’s no hope for the future.” Yan Huan slowly folded the letter and placed it in her backpack, ”He feels Shen Qiqi died because of him! He feels responsible and obligated to help Shen Qiqi get through this painful relationship. An Hao, after breaking up with him, who will comfort my pain? Should I have also chosen suicide back then? Maybe that would have kept his heart.”

”Don’t talk nonsense,” An Hao frowned, ”The way Shen Qiqi handles things is a lot like Cheng Yu, if she can’t have what she wants, she doesn’t want to live. But she’s better than Cheng Yu, at least she didn’t use underhanded means to threaten you, right? As for Cheng Yue... I pity him. Yan Huan, you’re right, there’s really no way for you two to be together. He chose the wrong way, the more he indulges Shen Qiqi, the more she takes advantage! You should let go of this relationship! It’s been five years, it’s time to make an end.”

”You’re right.” Yan Huan felt a heavy blockage in her heart, but she couldn’t shed a single tear, ”Now that I think about it, there wasn’t really anything between Cheng Yue and me. Asking me to die for love for Cheng Yue, I might not have been able to do it! Shen Qiqi did it, she was so much a part of Cheng Yue, why should I get between the two of them? Cheng Yu back then was just as entangled with Qin Shichang, yet he managed to refuse! I think he truly loves you! As for Cheng Yue and me... perhaps I was just a youthful impulse for him, and he was my yearning for intense emotions?”

Hearing Yan Huan say this, An Hao was stunned for a moment, then a pleased smile appeared on her face: ”Congratulations on figuring it out!”

”I think it’s really time.” Yan Huan said helplessly, ”If we take a step back, we can both be free! Sometimes it’s truly frustrating, perhaps Cheng Yue and I were just not meant to be.”

”How strange. Hearing you say this, I’m not only not feeling regret for you but also feeling happy for you!” An Hao leaned closer to Yan Huan’s ear and whispered, ”Actually, if you get to know Ji Chuan better, he’s quite a nice guy!”

”Yeah!” Yan Huan lowered her head, ”He’s been very good to me too.”

”But lacking that heart-stopping feeling?” An Hao laughed, ”Is it that you don’t love Ji Chuan or you’re afraid to love?”

”...” Yan Huan laughed and said, ”Can I not answer that?”

”Of course! You don’t have to answer! Just answer in your heart. Cheng Yue is nice too, but his entanglements are too many for you!”

Yan Huan sighed and said nothing more.

At this moment, the door opened, and Ji Chuan’s handsome face appeared: ”You two have been whispering outside my door for ages, talking bad about me?”

”Of course not!” An Hao raised her eyebrows, ”I’ve been saying a basketful of nice things about you! How are you going to thank me?”
