Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”Really?” Ji Chuan carefully observed Yan Huan’s expression, and a thought flashed across his mind. Perhaps, he had found the root of Yan Huan’s illness.

”I don’t remember. I’m not clear.” At this moment, Yan Huan’s mind was very chaotic, with more and more things flooding in.

Her originally empty mind was packed full with the onslaught of memories, and for a moment, she found it hard to bear.

”Godmother, if you’re really scared, let’s go home.” Ning Chenyang could also see that something was off with Yan Huan, so he didn’t insist on going boating. His small hands clutched her clothes, looking at her with concern.

”It’s fine. It’s fine.” Yan Huan shook her head repeatedly, ”Let’s get on the boat. This is a mental illness; don’t worry, it’s not life-threatening! Besides, I really want to go on the boat and enjoy the beautiful scenery in the middle of the lake.”

”Are you sure?” Ji Chuan confirmed once again.

”Of course.” Yan Huan replied confidently.

Ji Chuan had already queued for a long time; it wasn’t easy, and the boat tickets weren’t cheap. He couldn’t let Ji Chuan waste his time and money.

”Alright then.” Ji Chuan extended his hand, looked into Yan Huan’s eyes, and said, ”Don’t be afraid! No one can do anything to you here! I’m here, and I’ll protect you!”

”Mm.” Yan Huan nodded heavily.

In the heart of the lake, small boats were floating, most of them occupied by couples, and some by families of three.

For Ning Chenyang, it might have been his first time on a boat, and he excitedly shouted continuously on board.

Yan Huan rested her chin on her hand, quietly admiring the sunshine and willow trees not far away. The previous feelings of anxiety and fear had vanished, and she felt as if she was basking in the sunlight once again.

Ji Chuan paddled the boat with his feet, smiling as he looked at the pair.

At that moment, a sudden longing arose in his heart.

In his thirties, he also wanted a home of his own, a wife he loved, and perhaps a clever and lovely son.

”Uncle Ji, why do you keep looking at my godmother?” Ning Chenyang, having had his fun, sat down obediently, noticing that Ji Chuan’s gaze was fixed on Yan Huan, and asked with a sly smile.

”Your godmother is very beautiful. Everyone appreciates beauty, and I’m admiring something beautiful.” Ji Chuan was generous with his praise for Yan Huan.

Hearing this, Yan Huan came back to her senses, and seeing Ji Chuan’s intense gaze, her heart fluttered and her cheeks slightly flushed: ”I’m not sure if what you said is true or not, but I feel flattered.”

”Isn’t this what people often call dating?” Ning Chenyang, wise beyond his years, blinked and said something astonishing, ”Do you sneak kisses when no one is around?”

”You little rascal, who taught you such things?” Yan Huan habitually reached out to pat Ning Chenyang’s little head.

As a result, Ning Chenyang deftly dodged.

Having just dodged Yan Huan’s attack, he hadn’t settled back down when their small boat suddenly lurched, and the boat rocked violently.

Ning Chenyang hurriedly reached out to grab the boat’s edge, but missed.

His whole body lunged toward the water.

”Yangyang!” Sitting beside Ning Chenyang, Yan Huan quickly stood up to grab Chenyang, but they both lost balance and fell into the water.

Ji Chuan’s heart skipped a beat, and he quickly stood up, reaching out to rescue the two of them.

But he was a step too slow, and they both fell into the water.

”Uncle Ji, help! I can’t... I can’t swim!”
