Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Ji Chuan was shocked by Yan Huan’s reaction; he hadn’t expected Yan Huan to show such a dependent side towards him.

Their relationship was quite subtle, neither too close nor too distant. He had always wanted to get closer to Yan Huan, but Yan Huan always maintained a stance of keeping a distance.

He understood deep inside that Yan Huan’s heart was always filled with Cheng Yue.

Her heart wavered between the two of them, which was why she seemed hot and cold, near and far.

Today was different. When Yan Huan’s hands encircled Ji Chuan’s neck, Ji Chuan could clearly feel Yan Huan’s dependence on him. This was a good thing!

For Ji Chuan, things were developing in a positive direction.

”How is it? Do you feel a bit better?” Ji Chuan asked as he carried Yan Huan to the sofa and gently put her down.

Yan Huan glanced at her injured hand, furrowed her brows, and shut her eyes tightly again. Her stomach churned violently, spasming, and the feeling of nausea came crashing over her like a tide.

”If you can’t stand the sight of the blood, you can close your eyes. I’ll help you with the wound!” Ji Chuan, being a surgeon, kept medical supplies at home.

Dealing with this small wound was a simple task for him.

Jason, who had been observing the two quietly from the side, wanted to interpret Yan Huan’s inner thoughts through her body language.

Ji Chuan quickly treated the wound, disinfecting it with alcohol, applying medication, and then sealing it with white medical tape. ”Take a look. How does it feel now?”

Only then did Yan Huan open her eyes. Once the blood was no longer visible, she gradually calmed down. ”Much better.”

”That’s good.” Ji Chuan stood up and gently patted her shoulder. ”You rest here, and leave the cooking to me.”

”You can cook?” Yan Huan looked at Ji Chuan in surprise.

”Of course, when I was studying abroad, I had to cook for myself. I’ve been single for so many years, taking care of myself all the time. Cooking isn’t a hard task for me.” Ji Chuan smiled slightly and walked towards the kitchen.

Ji Chuan tidied up the kitchen, cleaned the bloodstains Yan Huan had left, and took out two potatoes from the vegetables. After washing and peeling them, he placed them on the chopping board and began slicing them.

His white shirt sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, and his hands moved deftly as the knife made a rhythmic sound. The thin potato shreds flew off the knife.

Yan Huan stood silently behind Ji Chuan, watching this scene, her eyes revealing a hint of admiration.

”Ji Chuan, how many more skills are you hiding from me?” Yan Huan asked.

Ji Chuan glanced back at Yan Huan, standing at the kitchen door, and chuckled. ”It’s just cooking. What kind of skill is that?”

”You’re already amazing. I... I can’t do it.” Yan Huan, for the first time, felt embarrassed as a woman.

”What’s there to it?” Ji Chuan smiled, looking at her. ”Here’s a question for you to consider carefully. If you choose me, after marriage, I’ll be the one cooking. All the meals at home will be my responsibility! But if you choose Cheng Yue, you’ll probably have to do it all yourself. Just imagining that sight is...”

Yan Huan was amused by his words. ”Ji Chuan, you never miss an opportunity to promote yourself.”
