Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2404: Chapter 2297: Come On, Let’s Fight!

As for An Hao’s son, Ji Chuan knew about it.

Compared to him taking Yan Huan home, obviously An Hao visiting her son was more important.

Since that’s the case, Ji Chuan didn’t insist any further: ”Then I’ll leave her to you to send! After seeing the little guy, give him my regards!”

”Okay.” An Hao agreed happily.

It was already May, and He Family Manor was enveloped in the fragrance of locust flowers.

These locust trees, as thick as a bowl’s edge, became a playground for the village children.

The boys turned into monkeys at this time, climbing the trees, peeling off the blooming locust flowers in handfuls, and stuffing them into their mouths, chewing hard until their mouths were filled with sweet fragrance.

Thirteen-year-old He Mu climbed up a locust tree and broke off an entire branch, throwing it down.

He Yue and Ning Chenguang squatted on the ground, busily plucking the locust flowers from the branches and putting them in a basket beside them.

This noon, they planned to make fried dough with locust flowers.

It’s a snack, where the locust flowers are coated in batter and fried in oil.

Once out of the pan, they can be cooled and eaten directly.

With one bite, the aroma of the oil and the sweet fragrance of the locust flower mixed together, it’s so delicious that you might bite your tongue.

”Yueyue, can you really eat this?” asked Ning Chenguang, who grew up in the city and was unsure.

He heard Liang Xiuzhu saying that they would fry locust flower dough for lunch and felt puzzled.

”Of course!” Yueyue laughed, her eyes curving, ”There are many ways to eat locust flowers. They can be steamed or used in dumplings, but none are as good as fried. I promise you’ll love it by this afternoon.”

”Oh!” Ning Chenguang nodded, then squatted down and earnestly began picking locust flowers.

Not far away, a group of people approached.

Leading them was a thirteen-year-old boy, tall and stout, with a round belly, and a necklace of white locust flowers strung together with string around his neck.

Following him were four or five little boys aged six or seven, along with a few girls about Ning Chenguang’s age.

They swaggered over, and seeing the two squatting on the ground picking locust flowers, the leading boy waved his hand and said to the lackeys behind him: ”Go, seize the spoils for me!”

Having lived here for some time, Ning Chenguang naturally knew them all.

Upon hearing that the boy wanted to snatch their things, he sprang up from the ground, pointed at the boy’s nose, and said: ”Fat Sweet Potato, are you itching for a beating again? You act up every two days without one! Here you are again to steal our stuff!”

”Exactly!” He Yue threw down what was in her hand and stood firmly beside Ning Chenguang, ”Fat Sweet Potato, you better watch out! If you dare bully us, I’ll have my brother beat you up!”

Fat Sweet Potato’s real name was Pang Di.

He was fond of eating sweet potatoes, hence the nickname Fat Sweet Potato.

Listening to the two little ones speaking boldly, he plucked a locust flower, stuffed it into his mouth, chewed fiercely, and said: ”Small in stature, but big attitudes! Tell me, when have you ever actually beaten me? Either you dig a pit for me to fall into, or you have that big yellow dog chase me! In a one-on-one, none of you can beat me!”

”So, you bully us everywhere, is that it?” Ning Cheng stomped his foot angrily, ”Come on! Isn’t it just a one-on-one? If any one of us beats you, you must bow down and submit in the future!”
