Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Looking at this pile of ingredients, she really was a bit worried.

But since Jason said that no matter what she made, he could swallow it down, she might as well give it a try.

Yan Huan had no confidence in her cooking skills at all. However, she knew that Jason had her cook because he still needed to discuss things with Ji Chuan.

In the past, she had heard her brother say that the reason Ji Chuan had been single all these years was largely because he was so focused on his work.

Once he got into work, he practically forgot everything else.

It could be said that Ji Chuan was a thorough workaholic.

He had an extraordinary passion for medicine, not because of some noble ideal, nor for any particular reason, but purely out of love!

A person who could turn their passion into a profession is truly invested in their work!

Yan Huan thought about this as she slowly prepared the vegetables she had bought.

Even if she couldn’t cook, at least she could manage the simplest task of washing and cutting the vegetables, right?

Though she hadn’t cooked much herself, she had at least observed others doing it.

Yan Huan picked two relatively smooth potatoes from the vegetables, washed them in the sink, peeled them, and slowly began to slice them on the cutting board.

Her knife movements were very slow, afraid that they might not look good.

However, it was obvious that she overestimated her abilities.

Slicing potatoes is the true test of knife skills, and hers were uneven in thickness and length, messily scattered across the cutting board.

”It’s really frustrating, even with so much effort, I can’t cut them properly,” Yan Huan muttered to herself.

Suddenly, the knife slipped, missed the potato, and deeply embedded itself in her flesh.

Blood instantly flowed out, dripping and splattering onto the cutting board, staining the potato strips red.

”Ah! Blood! Blood!” Yan Huan screamed, her entire body collapsing to the floor.

Ji Chuan and Jason were discussing things when they suddenly heard the commotion from the kitchen, their hearts skipped a beat, and they hurriedly rushed in.

”Yan Huan, are you okay?”

”I’m bleeding,” Yan Huan tightly clenched her finger, eyes shut, her breathing becoming difficult.

Ji Chuan could tell that Yan Huan’s condition had worsened.

Previously, she would only vomit, but now there was no vomiting; she was completely paralyzed with fear.

”Ji, let me take a look,” Jason hurried over, seeing how terrified Yan Huan was at the sight of blood. While wanting to help her, an idea formed in his mind.

He wanted to test Yan Huan.

If she had indeed been violated before, then somewhere deep in her consciousness, she should also resist deeper contact with men.

Jason crouched down, looked at Yan Huan’s expression, and said, ”Yan Huan, open your eyes and look at me! Be good, I will help you overcome this fear!”

Yan Huan’s fear of blood seemed to be a transmission of fear.

”I don’t want to see blood. I’m not afraid, but I hate seeing it!” Yan Huan refused Jason’s help.

”Look at me. Can you look at me, please?” Jason said.

Yan Huan slowly opened her eyes.

”Come, give me your hand! I’ll help you up! You can do it!”

Yan Huan didn’t resist at all but reached out her hand to Jason. However, even holding Jason’s hand, she was still weak, unable to stand up by herself.

Ji Chuan felt a pang of heartache, he pushed Jason aside, gently holding Yan Huan’s hand, and said softly, ”Don’t be afraid! I’m always here. If you can’t walk, I’ll carry you!”

As he spoke, he bent down and picked Yan Huan up. Surprisingly, she acted like a child, wrapping her arms tightly around Ji Chuan’s neck, resting her head on his chest.

Listening to his heartbeat, she calmed down.

Jason wasn’t sure whether to feel surprised or frustrated!

Yan Huan’s behavior didn’t seem like someone who had been violated. If that wasn’t the case, then why didn’t she say anything?

Or perhaps she chose to deliberately forget?

For a moment, Jason couldn’t find much evidence. He realized that his assumptions today were indeed somewhat hasty and lacked explanations. But he believed he was certainly getting closer to the truth step by step.
