Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Capítulo 2413: Chapter 2406: Déjà Vu

An Hao was busy helping Liang Xiuzhu cook, while Yan Huan wandered around the yard.

She looked east, then west, resting her chin on her hand, not knowing what she was thinking.

“Sister-in-law, that girl is quite pretty. Who is she?” Liang Xiuzhu asked while tending the fire.

“She’s Chenguang’s godmother! Maybe it’s her first time experiencing this kind of life? Everything seems novel to her!” An Hao said, “You don’t need to worry about her, just let her look around.”

“Alright.”

Yan Huan wandered around the yard, finding the place somewhat familiar, as if she had seen it before.

She couldn’t recall it for the moment.

It seemed like she had seen it in a dream, but the courtyard in her dream wasn’t like this one, full of sunshine and warmth. The one in her dream was gloomy, cold, and damp…

Aside from the weather, the general structure of the house seemed the same.

There were small details she couldn’t quite remember.

For many years, Yan Huan had been puzzled by the fact that she would occasionally remember this courtyard, yet couldn’t recall any memories associated with it.

The only thing she remembered was the feeling in the dream, which was really, truly uncomfortable.

The moonlight was cold, casting a sheet of silver glow on the ground.

It seemed as if she was curled up in a corner of the room, always staring at the silver glow in the courtyard.

Wait, why did she feel as if she was the one curled up in the corner of the room?

Suddenly, Yan Huan felt like her mind wasn’t working. What was wrong with her lately? This state was completely off.

“Yan Huan, what are you so lost in thought about? Come over and taste if the ribs are good,” An Hao called her, “My cooking skills are top-notch, try it first.”

“Oh, okay.” Yan Huan pulled herself out of her thoughts, turned around, and walked to the large pot, using An Hao’s chopsticks to take a bite of the meat on the ribs.

In an instant, the rich aroma spread everywhere, dispelling the gloom in her heart.

“How is it?” An Hao asked.

“Hmm, quite good!” Yan Huan gave a thumbs-up.

“Then eat more at lunch!” Liang Xiuzhu said as she extinguished the firewood.

With the meat stewed, Liang Xiuzhu left it in the pot to simmer, and went to wash the locust flowers the kids had picked, as she’d promised to make fried locust flower fritters for them.

An Hao had previously fried pepper leaves and Chinese toon fritters, but it was her first time using locust flowers to make fritters.

In some regions, people eat locust flowers, while in others they don’t. In An Hao’s village, they didn’t eat them, so seeing people from He Family Manor eat flower fritters intrigued her. She stood by like a curious little cat, waiting to try them.

“These are fragrant, sweet, and tasty!” Liang Xiuzhu said with a smile, dipping the locust flowers in egg batter and putting them into the oil to fry.

After frying, she let An Hao taste the first one.

Sure enough, the taste was indeed extraordinary.

“Delicious! Really delicious! Fragrant and sweet…”

“If you like it, take some locust flowers with you to fry at home when you leave.”

“Thank you, sister-in-law!”

He Fusheng’s home was bustling, with stewing meat and frying treats, the aroma of the dishes filled the air.

A gust of wind carried the scent from the courtyard beyond the walls.

Next door, Liu Qiaoqiao’s family had already started eating.

Her husband was usually not home, so she took care of their teenage son, whose name was Liu Chengcai!

However, Chengcai turned out to be a disappointment; he didn’t do well in his studies, so he simply quit. He did nothing all day, just eating, drinking, and laying around the house.
