Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2432: Chapter 2425: Avoidance Is Not the Solution

”I also hope they have a chance!” Yan Luquan sighed, ”Ji Chuan is indeed a nice young man. He seems to have a good temperament and character. The key is he can tolerate Yan Huan!”

”Exactly.” Feng Yuzhi was very pleased that her husband’s opinion matched hers.

”Such a pity...”

”Pity what?”

It’s a pity for Cheng Yue. This young man is also very smart and really likes Yan Huan. Yan Luquan truly likes him a lot.

”Pity what?” Feng Yuzhi asked again when her husband fell silent.

”It’s nothing to pity! Let’s see what fate decides!” Yan Luquan didn’t continue the conversation.

Ji Chuan walked out of the ward with Yan Huan, and they went to the garden downstairs.

The PLA Affiliated Hospital was vast, and the medical environment was excellent. Downstairs, there was a very large garden where inpatients could take a walk and breathe fresh air.

”What do you want to talk to me about?” Yan Huan asked as she walked with her head down, occasionally kicking small stones on the ground.

”How is your illness?” Ji Chuan asked.

”It’s okay.” Yan Huan replied casually.

She no longer cared about her condition.

After all these years, the treatment and medication had led to the same results. If fate had already set her destiny, no effort on her part might change anything.

As a soldier, she knew that having such thoughts was wrong and she shouldn’t.

But the harsh reality sometimes made her feel like she couldn’t change her ’preordained fate’.

”What does ’okay’ mean?” Ji Chuan was clearly dissatisfied with this answer.

”Okay means there’s been no major change. Everything is as usual.” Yan Huan lowered her head, her tone a bit dejected, ”Anyway, it can’t be cured.”

”Don’t lose heart.”

”Ji Chuan... I know you care a lot about me and are very concerned about my condition. But...”

Seeing Yan Huan hesitate, Ji Chuan looked at her with a puzzled expression: ”But what? Speak freely.”

”But I know my condition probably won’t get better and might be hopeless. You don’t need to worry too much about it in the future. Besides, the frequent discussions about it always remind me that I’m a patient. It makes me feel sad, and the pressure is overwhelming. Lately, I’ve been dreaming... the scenes in my dreams are very oppressive, and I feel suffocated...” Yan Huan hesitated as she finished speaking, then glanced at Ji Chuan.

”Am I the reason you’re feeling pressured?” Ji Chuan was slightly surprised.

”No. It’s not that... I just don’t want you to ask too much about my condition.” Whenever Ji Chuan brought it up, she felt very uncomfortable.

Initially, it felt like concern, but slowly it became a burden.

This burden, repeatedly reinforced and intensified, always made her feel uneasy.

”Why? I just want to help you,” Ji Chuan said.

”I know. But, this illness is hopeless! So many people can’t cure it, it’s incurable...” Yan Huan said with some anguish.

It’s not that she didn’t feel pain in the past, but that she deliberately suppressed it, trying to forget about the pain.

It’s precisely because of these deliberate actions that she felt comfortable and relieved.

”Avoiding it is not a solution!” Ji Chuan solemnly told Yan Huan, ”You’re still young, the road ahead is long, and you can’t stay in Nancheng forever! So, while you’re still young, let’s find a way together.”
