Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2433: Chapter 2426: Fate’s Cruel Mischief

”What can you do?” Yan Huan glanced at him, ”You’re a surgeon. Holding a scalpel is your expertise! I’m afraid you’re not good at this, are you?”

”I’m indeed not very good at this. But I’ve already found someone who is!” Ji Chuan said with a smile, ”I have a friend in the United States. His major might be able to help you!”

”His major is related to breathing?”

Ji Chuan squinted his eyes and looked at Yan Huan’s hand and said, ”That also depends on your condition!”

”What do you mean by depends on my condition?” Yan Huan asked very puzzled.

”It means that after looking at your illness, we can determine if his expertise can come in handy!”

”What?” Yan Huan burst into laughter at once, ”You’re not joking with me, are you?”

”No. I’m very serious.” said Ji Chuan.

Long after, Yan Huan remembered, but she couldn’t comprehend, nor was she able to understand the deeper meaning behind Ji Chuan’s words.

”Alright then. Since you always mean well for me, I will accept your kindness. If your friend in the United States can really treat this strange disease of mine, I’m willing to cooperate!” Yan Huan decided.

”Mm. I’ll contact him to see if he’s available to help you as soon as possible.”

”Thank you. Ji Chuan!”

”I told you, between us, there’s no need for so many thanks.” Ji Chuan smiled.

On the fourth floor of the inpatient building, Cheng Yue stood in the corridor, watching the two people on the lawn, his heart clenched tightly.

”Does it make you feel bad seeing this?” Yan Ye’s voice came from behind.

Cheng Yue turned around and saw Yan Ye, not knowing when he had already stood behind him: ”Teacher Yan! Why did you come out too?”

Yan Ye smiled slightly, took out a cigarette from his pocket, and handed one to Cheng Yue: ”Want a smoke?”

Cheng Yue nodded and took a cigarette, holding it between his lips: ”Teacher Yan, since when did you start smoking too?”

Yan Ye shook his right hand and said, ”Since this hand can no longer hold a scalpel for surgery...”

”What a pity.” Cheng Yue said with regret.

”It’s okay. Although I can’t perform surgeries anymore, I can still teach students. Hmm, anatomy class... still barely manageable.” Yan Ye smiled at Cheng Yue and said, ”I really liked the gift you gave to the child! Thank you, you must have spent quite a bit of money, right?”

”It’s alright.”

Yan Ye patted Cheng Yue’s shoulder and said, ”Cheng Yue, you’ve always been one of my favorite students. Actually, I originally thought you and Yan Huan could end up together. Didn’t expect fate to play such tricks...”

”It’s all my fault.” Cheng Yue lowered his head, his long lashes covering his eyelids, his deep voice slightly hoarse, ”If I hadn’t left her back then, maybe, we wouldn’t be like this now.”

”You shouldn’t blame yourself too much. This isn’t your fault, don’t keep shackling yourself.” Yan Ye looked at the once rebellious yet clever boy, after experiencing the vicissitudes of life, becoming more silent and laughing less than before, he was troubled in his heart.

”Teacher Yan, please don’t doubt my love for Yan Huan. I truly had no choice at that time. You also know my family situation back then, I really couldn’t ignore my parents.” Cheng Yue’s throat choked up, his eyes hot, seemingly about to shed tears.
