Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Capítulo 2415: Chapter 2408: Sticky Fingers

An Hao was slightly taken aback, not expecting Liang Xiuzhu to stop her.

The couple was known for their kind nature, so if neither of them wanted Liu Qiaoqiao to visit, it surely meant that Liu Qiaoqiao was not a likable person.

“Listen to your sister-in-law, sit down!” Liang Xiuzhu said to An Hao, “I’ll go talk to her.”

Since that was the case, An Hao didn’t say anything further.

She sat back down, waiting for Liang Xiuzhu to handle the matter.

“Tsk tsk tsk!” Liu Qiaoqiao saw An Hao sit down and said with a pout, “These officials really look down on people! Is it because my husband isn’t home, or because my family is poor and can’t treat you to good food? Every time you come, you only visit He Fusheng’s house, never come to mine!”

“Liu Qiaoqiao, what’s so interesting at your place? Do they have any connection with your family?” Liang Xiuzhu walked up to Liu Qiaoqiao and said.

“How is that not a connection? Her son has eaten at my place,” Liu Qiaoqiao glared at Liang Xiuzhu, “Don’t get a bargain and act all high and mighty here.”

“He only ate a cornmeal bun at your house, and that was in exchange for white bread with your kid Cheng Cai. Last time, you took advantage, and we let it slide. How can you tell the same lie twice?” Liang Xiuzhu directly exposed her.

Liu Qiaoqiao did not expect that the usually honest-looking woman would speak so harshly today.

Angry, she stomped her foot and said, “What? Afraid I might eat up your family’s food? That’s why you’re stopping me at the door!”

“Liu Qiaoqiao, in the past, you did whatever you wanted. Now, I have guests at home, so you’d better head back!” Liang Xiuzhu said.

“Fine, fine, fine! I’ve figured you out… hmph! You all just look down on people with dog eyes! I won’t come to your house, and in the future, don’t ask for any favors from me, Liu Qiaoqiao.” Liu Qiaoqiao walked off in a huff after being rebuffed.

“Sister-in-law, what’s going on?” An Hao asked in confusion.

“This Liu Qiaoqiao isn’t a good person.” He Fusheng said directly, “Last time you gave us a lot of stuff, like cookies and bread which the kids love. Xiuzhu and I saved them for the kids, and you placed the items in the inner room. But whenever Liu Qiaoqiao visits, the items go missing, and I even caught her in the act once!”

“She was stealing?” Qin Jian frowned.

“Exactly! She often sneaks around, taking small things. Whenever our farming tools go missing, they’re sure to be found at her place!” He Fusheng shook his head, “I can’t stand people like that, so I don’t let my wife associate with her.”

Now Qin Jian and An Hao understood the whole situation.

“It’s better to be cautious in the future,” An Hao said, “People like that have wicked intentions. We shouldn’t harm others, but we must be wary of being harmed ourselves.”

“Indeed.” He Fusheng nodded and shared out the ribs in front of them, “Everyone, eat more! Please don’t stand on ceremony!”

The meal lasted over two hours, and the three children were so full their mouths were still shiny with grease, but they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

An Hao helped Liang Xiuzhu clean up the pots and dishes before preparing to take her leave.

The road was long, and if they left late, they’d have to travel at night, which wasn’t safe.

He Fusheng didn’t insist on them staying, and accompanied his family to see them off at the gate.

“No need to see us off, you all head back!” An Hao said.

“Let the kids say their goodbyes, it’ll be a month before they see each other again,” He Fusheng said.

As the families were saying their farewells, Liu Qiaoqiao sneaked out of her house, and seeing the others were busy with their goodbyes, discreetly slipped into He Fusheng’s house.
