Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2417: Chapter 2410: Lazy to the Bone

”How come there’s still a bone on the floor that hasn’t been cleaned up?” He Fusheng muttered to himself and kicked the bone aside.

When he was ready to fill a pot with water from the water tank to boil, he suddenly found that the bottle of Maotai on the windowsill was missing.

That bottle of liquor is not just any ordinary kind.

He had heard that only wealthy people and high-ranking officials could drink it.

Brother Qin had always treasured it, and now he had given it to him. He couldn’t bear to drink it on ordinary days, and had only brought it out today because it was a happy occasion.

A few people only drank half the bottle, and there was still half left. How did it just disappear?

”Wife! Wife!” He Fusheng shouted loudly.

Liang Xiuzhu heard her husband’s call and hurriedly came out of the house, jogging to the kitchen in the yard: ”What’s the matter? Why are you shouting like that?”

”Where’s the wine? Where did you put my wine?” He Fusheng asked.

”Isn’t it just on the windowsill...” Liang Xiuzhu pointed to the windowsill, but when she looked, the bottle was gone, and she didn’t know where it went, ”It’s so strange, I clearly put it here at noon. Didn’t you see it too? How does something just disappear after a nap? Damn it!”

”You didn’t move it either?” He Fusheng asked, puzzled.

”Of course, I didn’t move it.” Liang Xiuzhu said ruefully, ”If I’d known it would get lost, I shouldn’t have left it in the kitchen! It’s all my fault!”

”Forget it, if it’s lost, it’s lost.” He Fusheng couldn’t bear to see his wife blame herself, ”Once the kids wake up, we’ll ask them to see if they might have put it somewhere by accident.”

”Could it have been the work of the neighbors next door?” Having lost things before, Liang Xiuzhu immediately thought of the neighbors.

”That... it’s really hard to say.” He Fusheng wasn’t sure.

”Sigh! Looks like we’ll have to keep our things properly from now on, not just leave them in the yard. Otherwise, I’m afraid everything in our house will end up in Liu Qiaoqiao’s possession!” Liang Xiuzhu sighed, ”If it weren’t for you stopping me, I’d really want to go to the village committee and tell the branch secretary about this.”

”Talking about it won’t help. People say catch cheaters in bed, catch thieves red-handed! If you can’t catch them in the act with the stolen goods, how can you say they’re the ones who took it? If they take your food and eat it, what can you do? If they take your tools and say they forgot to return them, what can you do?” This kind of thing has happened more than once or twice.

People next door aren’t very kind-hearted. If cornered, they might do something outrageous, which would be a loss.

They’re all neighbors. Given they’re neighbors, it’s best to just turn a blind eye and let it pass.

”Fusheng, you see, the country’s policies are so good now. If everyone is willing to work hard, everyone can have a meal. In the past, it was hard to even have a meal. Now every household can eat meat. How come Liu Qiaoqiao’s family is doing so poorly? Look, if they have a meal with meat, it’s like a festival with gongs and firecrackers.” Liang Xiuzhu said.

”Isn’t it obvious? When someone is lazy to their core, no one can save them!” He Fusheng said disdainfully.

He despised those who are idle and lazy, like Liu Qiaoqiao, who barely caught his attention.

No matter how beautiful such a woman might be, he wouldn’t care in the slightest.
