Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2426: Chapter 2419: Victory Rewards

The Liu Qiaoqiao household was echoing with sounds like ghostly wails, while Ning Chenguang and his little squad had already gathered in celebration of their victory.

A bunch of mischievous kids recalled the exciting scenes from moments ago, each one laughing so hard they couldn’t stand straight, their stomachs aching from the laughter.

”Brother! You’re awesome!” He Yue looked at Ning Chenguang, her big shiny eyes sparkling, and the little dimples at the corners of her mouth forming a sweet smile.

Even though she was young, she was undoubtedly a beauty in the making.

”Yueyue is awesome too!” Ning Chenguang smiled at her, his smile handsome and charming, much like a young Little Qin Jian.

”Captain, today was such a blast! We must join in on such actions next time!” Pang Di raised his hand high and said.

He Mu looked at him with an expression as if he was an idiot, ”I think you just like to join the chaos, don’t you? Wherever there’s trouble, there you are!”

”Is it any of your business?” Pang Di waved a fist at Qiao Mu.

”Tch!” Qiao Mu now realized that Pang Di wouldn’t dare hit him, and just rolled his eyes, turned around, and left on his own.

It was almost noon, and the sounds of parents calling children home for lunch echoed through the streets and alleys.

”Captain, can we go home for lunch now?” the children asked.

Ning Chenguang nodded, ”Of course you can! But... you should wait here for a bit!”

”Why?” Pang Di asked.

”Since our first mission was a success, we should celebrate! As the little captain, it’s my duty to give you all rewards! Just wait here!” Ning Chenguang said, grabbing He Yue’s wrist, ”Yueyue, come on, let’s go get the stuff!”

The two kids went back home, where He Fusheng and his wife were making steamed buns in the kitchen.

Ning Chenguang directly took He Yue to his room.

”Brother, what are you going to get?” He Yue asked, watching Ning Chenguang rummage through piles of snacks until he found a large metal box, which he opened to reveal small, dark squares inside.

The little squares were about the size of a modern day eraser.

”Didn’t Aunt An Hao buy this for you? Are you going to give them all to Pang Di and his gang?” As He Yue thought about these tasty treats ending up in Pang Di’s stomach, she felt a bit uneasy.

”Yueyue, I’m not giving them all away. But since our team won for the first time, I should reward everyone, right?” Ning Chenguang said as he counted the pieces of chocolate.

”But there are so many people, these won’t last long!” He Yue said unhappily.

”Of course, I won’t hand them out every time.” Ning Chenguang’s little mind calculated everything clearly, ”Since everyone looks to me as the little captain, I can’t always lead them into adventures, right? What if the other kids’ parents find out, and they get punished at home? These treats are also a reward and compensation for them!”

Ever since he was young, he had followed his grandfather to the barracks and his father on inspections, seeing many examples of clear rewards and punishments, and now he was putting what he had learned to use.

”But... won’t Aunt An Hao feel bad if she finds out you’re giving away so many things?” He Yue said, conscious of the fact that she had grown up in a household where her parents scrimped and saved to provide good things for her and her brother.
