I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 247: Chapter 246: This Young Man...

These past few days, Beisitian has been leaving home early to deliver medicine to Yu Shufang’s dormitory.

Yu Shufang obediently got out of bed and moved around the next day. On the first day, as Beisitian said, she felt pain for a while, but it was mild enough that she could endure it without any medications and it did not interfere with her activities; she even had the mood to read a newspaper.

On the second day, after taking Beisitian’s clear water medicine, she once again felt that comfort because her abdomen hadn’t felt so light and comfortable for a while. So, even though she was slightly anemic from the bleeding, her pale face still carried a smile.

Seeing this, Ma Xiuli realized that Beisitian’s medicine indeed had an effect. However, whether it could make the tumor shrink still required examination with instruments.

”Start taking some tranquilizing and calming medications these two days,” Beisitian instructed on the second day when she came.

Ma Xiuli didn’t quite understand and asked what was going on. Seeing Beisitian’s look at her, she felt despised.

”Regardless of whether it’s traditional or Western medicine, as women, we should have a basic understanding of such situations,” Beisitian said with raised eyebrows.

Beisitian’s glance and expression made Ma Xiuli feel that her medical knowledge was really too lacking!

Without explaining what was going on, Beisitian left, making Ma Xiuli feel that she was disdainful.

Seeing this, Yu Shufang laughed, ”Doctor Xiao Bei is really interesting. Our knowledge is indeed somewhat singular. If I didn’t have this ailment, I probably wouldn’t know what’s going on either.”

”Sister Yu, what on earth is going on?” Ma Xiuli felt a bit frustrated after being disdained by Beisitian several times.

”Doctor Xiao Bei’s method should accelerate the decline of ovarian function so that it no longer secretes female hormones, leaving the tumor without a source of life and thus naturally shrinking. This means I will enter menopause early, and I don’t need to elaborate on the symptoms of menopause, right?” Yu Shufang laughed.

Ma Xiuli suddenly understood, realizing it was just menopause!

Yu Shufang occasionally felt a bit flustered and short of breath, and while her sleep quality at night hadn’t begun to deteriorate, based on this progress, it should start soon.

Modern medicine should also have drugs that accelerate ovarian decline, but such drugs must be very harmful to the body. The medicine given by Beisitian is fast-acting with no significant side effects, and her good mood is partly due to the relaxed and comfortable feeling in her abdomen.

Ma Xiuli twirled her hair with her forefinger, her face showing a hint of embarrassment, seemingly acknowledging the insufficiency of her knowledge.

Not only did she think this way, but Yu Shufang did too. If not for Beisitian, she wouldn’t know what she would have become?

”No wonder they say Chinese medicine is profound and extensive. Although specializing in one field of medical knowledge, as we do now, isn’t wrong, producing an outstanding Chinese medicine practitioner is an extraordinary achievement,” Yu Shufang remarked with emotion.

It’s unlikely that Beisitian specializes in gynecology within Chinese medicine; rather, she must have a certain understanding and grasp of general diseases to discern at a glance the cause and extent of her illness from her facial features.

Yu Shufang’s opinion of Beisitian had undergone a complete change. Frankly speaking, if Beisitian were to give them lectures, even old doctors like them would benefit greatly!

The only thing that puzzled Yu Shufang was that diagnosing illnesses doesn’t rely on acquired knowledge alone, but also on clinical experience. At twenty years old, where did Beisitian acquire such rich medical experience?

The atmosphere in the third consultation room was more harmonious than ever. No matter how others outside their circle felt about Shen Junping’s words, Shen Junping knew the truth.

Qi Xiu Hui indeed had a somewhat weak nature, but she wasn’t easily influenced by others’ words and always treated Beisitian as she did initially.

What surprised Beisitian further was Tian Lei, the newly arrived Medical Assistant, who displayed obvious curiosity and seemed somewhat concerned about her, which left her slightly bewildered.

”Xiao Bei, can you really tell what illness someone has just by looking at their face?” Tian Lei, at twenty-three years old, looked like a big boy, with delicate features and, with a pair of glasses, appeared genteel.

”Of course, this time Sister Yu was diagnosed by Doctor Xiao Bei,” Shen Junping chimed in with a smile.

There weren’t any patients at the moment, so the consultation room was quiet, making the atmosphere lively.

”Then can you tell what you see from my face?” Tian Lei tilted his face and shuffled it from side to side towards Beisitian.

Beisitian looked at him, feeling rather speechless, seeing that he was intent on getting an answer. She sighed and said, ”Indeed, I can see something.”

Tian Lei perked up, ”What did you find?”

”Foolishness!”

”...”

Pfft~

Qi Xiu Hui was listening attentively, not expecting Beisitian to give such an answer, and couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

Shen Junping did the same; he not only witnessed Beisitian’s skill but also delved into it, so he too had his ears perked to listen, though now he found himself laughing and crying at the situation.

Tian Lei was good-natured and wasn’t at all annoyed at being said that way. He awkwardly scratched his head, ”Xiao Bei is really too mischievous.”

Too mischievous...

Beisitian silently observed him, thinking that the boy’s way of speaking seemed rather informal—no, it wasn’t informal, it was without care!

Whether he spoke by accident or intentionally, Beisitian was unsure, making it hard for her to respond. She could only pretend not to hear; if there was a next time, she would have to address it clearly.

Qi Xiu Hui listened with a pleasant smile. Shen Junping never looked down on her, and with the absence of gossipers like Er Zhang and Ma Xiuli, she felt the environment was extraordinarily harmonious.

While the four of them were chatting, a mother and son entered. The boy seemed to be of high school age and slightly listless.

”Doctor Shen, could you prescribe something for my son’s cold?” The woman seemed just shy of forty, with graying hair, indicating she had been under stress for a while.

”Ah, it’s Sister-in-law Zhang. What’s going on with Ai Hua?” Shen Junping asked with a smile.

Zhou Aihua sat down, lightly coughed a few times, glanced at his mother, and said, ”Just a bit of a cough, feeling low-spirited, and dreaming a lot at night. I don’t think it’s serious; probably just a mix of heat and chill. But my mom insisted on bringing me here.”

Beisitian had already noticed that here, they called their mother ”Mama” instead of ”Niang.” She later learned that most rural areas still used ”Niang,” while most others had switched to ”Mama.”

However... this young man...

Beisitian stared at Zhou Aihua.

Zhou Aihua, sitting right across from Beisitian, sensed her gaze and looked over, only to find a very beautiful elder sister, which caught him by surprise.

”Let me prescribe...” Shen Junping was about to prescribe some meds to clear his mind and stomach to dispel heat and some cold medicine, but then noticed Beisitian’s intent gaze.
