I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 211: Chapter 210: Unable to Be Certain

”Brother Xudong, when I first heard the bad news about you, I cried for several days. It’s so good to see you again!” Zhang Lianqiao said, blushing.

”I never believed that Brother Xudong would do such a thing. You are indeed innocent. Not only that, but you are also a hero!” Zhang Lianqiao showed admiration. She truly admired Luo Xudong.

Zhang Lianqiao kept chattering non-stop, and Luo Xudong’s brows showed impatience. He only wanted some time to think, yet this woman could talk so much!

Luo Xudong didn’t want to say another word and turned to leave.

”Brother Xudong, where are you going? Wait for me!” Before Zhang Lianqiao finished her sentence, she saw Luo Xudong walk away and instinctively chased after him.

Zhang Lianqiao had been waiting for several days just to have a few words alone with Luo Xudong. How could she let him leave just like that?

She couldn’t care less about being seen as not reserved; she just wanted to talk to Luo Xudong and bring up the promise he had once made to her!

Luo Xudong’s legs were long, and though he walked leisurely, each step was worth two or three of hers. Zhang Lianqiao had to jog to barely catch up.

”Brother Xudong...” Zhang Lianqiao was a bit anxious and was about to call out to him when she suddenly saw Beisitian coming out of the alley. She quickly changed her tune, ”Brother Xudong, you should go home. I’ll come to find you another day.” Saying this, she turned and left.

Luo Xudong saw Beisitian standing at the entrance of the alley and was entirely captivated, not hearing what Zhang Lianqiao had said at all.

He saw Beisitian holding two small jars in her hand and asked, ”Going to Doctor Yang’s?”

”Yes.” Beisitian nodded and glanced at Zhang Lianqiao’s departing figure.

Were they just talking? They seemed to be having a good conversation.

Thinking of this, Beisitian felt a pang of sourness in her heart. Although it wasn’t very obvious, she sensed it clearly, and thus became lost in thought.

Seeing him with other women made her uncomfortable. Could this mean she cared about Luo Xudong?

Thinking about Luo Xudong agreeing to help tidy up the west room at noon, she felt a slight loss, presumably because she cared about Luo Xudong!

Reflecting on their time together, Beisitian found herself happy every day, with a smile unconsciously on her face, all because of Luo Xudong?

Beisitian had never felt this way before, so she kept exploring her feelings through various things.

But she had always heard that once you have feelings for someone, it’s hard to remain rational. Was she being too rational now?

Thinking of this, she became uncertain again.

Being deep in thought, she didn’t notice what Luo Xudong said until he called her name, bringing her back to her senses.

”What’s wrong?” Luo Xudong asked, noticing her distraction.

”Nothing, what did you just say?” Beisitian wouldn’t tell him about these things.

”I’ll go with you,” Luo Xudong repeated.

”Okay.” Beisitian said little and walked towards Yang Wulang’s place.

There, they encountered a patient with acute gastritis. Yang Wulang couldn’t handle it and had to seek her help, but he hadn’t expected to meet Luo Xudong.

Luo Xudong thought she would ask about Zhang Lianqiao, but surprisingly, she didn’t mention a word, remaining distracted throughout the walk.

Luo Xudong stopped and placed his large hand on her head, asking, ”Is something troubling you?”

Feeling the warmth from his hand, Beisitian’s gaze shifted slightly. Yes, isn’t it you that’s troubling me!

Her feelings for Luo Xudong directly impacted her future decisions, so she hadn’t reached a conclusion yet.

She had no experience in this regard. In her past life, despite being engaged, she was divorced before even meeting the person, and her only thought was those people were scoundrels!

So she could only rely on constant analysis and observation to determine her inner feelings.

Beisitian didn’t know if what she was doing was right, but it was better than making a muddled decision she might regret later.

Unwilling to speak, Luo Xudong couldn’t force her either.

Acute gastritis couldn’t be cured immediately; the inflammation itself was tough to eliminate.

Beisitian handed two small jars of medicine to the patient. Drinking them could relieve the pain, but treatment was needed for gradual recovery.

Now Beisitian carried more weight in her words than before. The patient nodded repeatedly. He initially wanted to see Doctor Bei directly but heard that Doctor Bei usually didn’t take common cases. Since he didn’t know it was acute gastritis at first, he went to Yang Wulang, but still ended up being treated by Beisitian.

Even if the medicine was expensive, he was willing to buy it!

”Drinking again might cost you your life next time!” Beisitian warned the man as she left.

His gastritis was caused by long-term heavy drinking. He had suffered a gastric perforation before, and before fully recovering, started drinking again, leading to acute gastritis.

The man nodded repeatedly, now feeling nauseous at the mention of alcohol, realizing he’d been drinking too much lately.

”Xudong has changed, become more handsome!” Yang Wulang commented, having seen Luo Xudong for the first time. He had heard about him but hadn’t seen him until now.

Compared to when he joined the army, Luo Xudong’s spirit was different. Now, a slightly fierce look in his eyes could scare ordinary people, unlike his previous demeanor.

”Thanks, Uncle Yang, for all your care.” Luo Xudong expressed sincere gratitude.

He remembered well who treated him well and who didn’t.

”What care, what care, now it’s Little Tian’er taking care of me. Look, without her, I couldn’t have kept this clinic going!” Yang Wulang joked.

Though joking, he indeed owed Beisitian many favors. More importantly, he had learned a lot from her.

Although he wasn’t young, saying so might invite laughter, but he truly respected Beisitian.

After a few words, someone came for a shot, so Beisitian and Luo Xudong left.

”It’s this time already; looks like we’ll have to tidy up tomorrow.” Luo Xudong said calmly, but with a faint smile on his lips.

Beisitian glanced at him, and the smile had faded.

It shouldn’t have been intentional; today things indeed delayed them.

Beisitian felt very conflicted. Having gone so far with this, from her heart, she found it difficult to persuade herself to be with another man. In her past life, if not with Luo Xudong, it would have been either death or a life of solitary contemplation.

Though there were no such constraints in this life, they had shared a bed, and pondering over other possibilities felt somewhat pretentious.

Beisitian was always troubled by this thought. Having been in this new world for over a year, she had embraced many new things, but certain issues were hard to overcome mentally.
