I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 230: Chapter 229: Cloud and Rain

If Beisitian hadn’t suggested a walk to aid digestion, Luo Xudong wouldn’t have wanted to come out at all. This short time was truly agonizing.

Listening to the sound of running water in the bathroom, Luo Xudong’s eyes darkened a bit. The weather in October was relatively cool in the evenings, but he felt incredibly hot, a heat coming from within himself.

His lower abdomen felt like a burning fire, and his whole body was immersed in an unspeakable discomfort; he hoped the bathroom door would open soon.

Inside the bathroom, Beisitian felt dazed and anxious thinking of what was about to happen; even her showering speed slowed down.

”Want me to help you wash?”

Beisitian slipped nearly falling, her face flushed red as she replied in a low voice that she didn’t need help, her hands already cleaning the lather away.

Not coming out now was not an option. Beisitian bit her pink lips and turned off the water, only to realize she’d forgotten to bring in her change of clothes. Feeling a bit foolish, she’d no choice but to ask Luo Xudong for help.

Outside, Luo Xudong heard her soft request and raised an eyebrow; she could certainly come out directly!

But of course, he could only entertain such thoughts in his mind. It was their first time, and he didn’t want to scare Beisitian too much.

Suppressing the fire stirring in his heart, Luo Xudong got up and opened the wardrobe, discovering the clothes were still the few pieces brought from home. Though she looked good in anything, these clothes were truly unworthy of her.

As a result, his gaze fell on his army green shirt hanging neatly along with his military uniforms, which Beisitian had organized.

Naturally, Beisitian couldn’t open the door wide. She only created a narrow gap to take the clothes Luo Xudong handed her, then quickly closed the door again.

Because the opening and closing happened so quickly, only after she took them did she notice they weren’t her clothes but Luo Xudong’s; moreover, it was just a shirt!

This... what’s going on here?!

”Can you put it on? Want me to help?” As he spoke, one hand was already on the door.

”I can wear it myself, I’m coming out!”

She hurriedly put on the shirt, and just as she was about to pull it down, Luo Xudong pushed the door open.

”Did you report to the medical team yet?” His voice no longer had its usual clarity; it was low and slightly hoarse.

”Not yet, but I went for a visit today.” Beisitian softly recounted the day’s events.

Luo Xudong heard about Liu Yiming’s injury, though he hadn’t expected it to be this serious. Upon learning how Beisitian managed to stop the bleeding, saving his life, he couldn’t help but laugh, ”Big Mouth was lucky to have you around.”

Liu Yiming earned the nickname Big Mouth because you could hear him talking on the first floor even from the third floor; he was notorious at the base!

Despite being a bit loud, he was a decent guy, rough looking but attentive. He had real skills and connections, which was why he rose to become a regiment commander at just forty years old.

”I heard there are three medical assistants coming this time, not sure how many will stay, while the rest might be assigned to grassroots level.” Luo Xudong said.

Anping City is considered a major city, close to Beijing, which means conditions are relatively better. Some connected individuals come here to intern with divisional units, hoping to remain here since nobody wants to suffer at grassroots levels where medical facilities and welfare aren’t great.

The three medical assistants arriving this time all have some connections; otherwise, they wouldn’t have come to Anping City’s base. However, who will remain depends not only on skill but also on connections behind the scenes.

Of course, Luo Xudong hoped Beisitian could stay here. If she were eventually reassigned, he too would apply; being in a temporary post means any location works for him.

Upon learning she’d join the medical team, Luo Xudong had already made up his mind; this moment was just a reminder. When the time comes, there would certainly be competition, and he hoped she’d avoid getting disadvantaged.

He didn’t want to put too much pressure on Beisitian, so he refrained from saying more.
